  • what do beacons do?

  • "Beacon" means a radio transponder that you wear while in areas of avalanche risk. In the event you are buried, others can switch their beacons to receive mode and locate your approximate position under the snow.

  • Nice riding. Where was this exactly? Hike-to terrain? Looks like fun. We are headed there in Jan and hope to find some spots lime that.

  • Yes, it was hike-to terrain just a few minutes (~30) off the upper left of a lift (lift 15 I think). Need beacon and equipment for avalanche risk.

  • Nice lines, 15 is the Revelation Bowl lift. Did you ride the Gold hill area, or was this on the back side of the mountain via the BC access gates?

  • Yes, that is definitely the one: Revelation Lift 15. It was the backside of the mountain not the Gold Hill Chutes. Once on the ridge facing the backside, we traversed high right to some nice pitches.
