  • Definitely in my top 10 of all time greatest songs.

  • take a load of fanny take a load for free ha ha ha the chance would be a fine thing

  • if this was in sync it would be the greatest rock performance of al time. does anyone have this in sync?

  • Just noticed that Levon's has his snare stick reversed...hitting the head with the blunt end. I've seen this video a gazillion times on youtube and on DVD, first time I've ever noticed that.

  • The Staple Sisters are some fine looking women!

  • best shit ive ever seen

  • Three people need to take a load off.

  • Must have mp3! Where in the world can I get it?

  • @spencergellsworth buy the fuckin' album

  • The Band AND the Staples Singers?! Yeah!!!!!

  • This and "It makes no difference" still blow me away. The band, god they were great!

  • Why is this video sped up? It's so fast compared to the actual video from The Last Waltz.

  • Don't forget forget props to Martin Scorsese for directing this before the "music video" was even invented.

  • Amazing Mavis... That voice could soothe angry gods.

  • That woman's voice is absolutely beautiful.

  • @mfrong He's not dead... he recovered. He was in the movie 'Shooter' a few years ago. He's still drumming and he holds bi-monthly shows in NY State. They're called 'The Midnight Rambles', a quote you might remember from 'The Last Waltz', during an interview.

  • Levon Helm* miss him

  • @mfrong Why? He's alive.....

  • Richard Manuel's harmonies are so fantastic

  • Does Danko fucking rock? Just brilliant!

  • Don't get better. Maybe just a little too polite to each other. Soul to soul rocks, though.

  • Mavis Staples... she sings like a sweet black angel...

  • Everybody is into but Robbie. go figure

  • is it Fannie or Anny??

  • Damn!! Pop Staple sounds good Thanks GreatOldiesDJ Watched The Last Waltz the other night on a cable channel called palladia

  • You know those songs you heard now and then growing up but never knew the title but you liked the song, this is one of those songs and after all these years now I know, it's The Weight. It stumbled when I played Dixie. Thank, greatoldiesdj. It'll go in my "post nam 68to70" you tube catagory. Gotta go, I just noticed "midnight rider"

  • Actually, I'm most impressed with Rick Danko. Take a good look at his solo, that's a fretless bass he's playing. Sounds good in his hands. RIP Rick, you helped make rock history.

  • No beds in Nazareth, what's that all about.

  • @kidynamite58 maybe "no room at the inn"

  • I think Levon is from Helena, Arkansas. Could be wrong. But I love the Night They Drove Ole Dixie Down.

  • Pops, what a beautiful voice.

  • Mavis is Beautiful!!

  • Waltz me!

  • Damn, Mavis Staples gives me chills..... PLAY THIS AT MY FUNERAL.

  • @jordanHmitchell

I don,t know you, but I will play Mavis at your funeral. She is beautiful. I can dig it. Love Pops.

  • The Staple Singers.....the best

  • NICE

  • Actually, abeaify is correct. Levon Helm was the drummer for The Band and lead vocalist on many of their songs. He was diagnosed with throat cancer in the late 90's.

  • @GreatOldiesDJ Howdy, Levon was treated for his cancer and is still performing in his seventies in his own theater in NY state.............he isstill inspiring many!! Rock on Levon!!

  • nope... that's not it :/

  • Levon Helm

  • I always loved hearing the band on the radio...just something about the guys voice ...all these years when i hear or read about the band it "robbie robertson ,robbie robertson!!so..all these years ithought robbie robertson was the singer!!lol...so who is this guy that sang all those hit s with no credit?

  • @beatlestoneful

The guy who sings is Levon Helm. Used to be the drummer for The Band.

Robbie did write most of the songs back in the day

  • @adary757575 Robbie did not write most of anything.

  • goosebumps

  • your turn! Rick!!

  • @time625 JR played a great guitar, , and could write, the singers were Levon, Richie, and

    Rick .

  • Well met ladies and gentlemen. Well met. So right on the right on. I still love it after all these years. It is so great to hear. Mrs. Sepulveda

  • whos the backup singers awesome

  • @db95018 The Staple Singers

  • @badalnighter thanks

  • "Pulled into Nazareth . . . feeling bout half past dead."

  • Great Vid! Robbie was the best writer as they all were and had a part writing it but never received credit. Robbie's mic was allmost never hot. The Staples Singer's are just a gas. I do this song at bluegrass festival's with my band The Mississippi Rever's and it alway's is well recieved.

  • I may be in the minority here, but the guests ruin the song for me.

  • Tune! X

  • seeing that there is only 6,952 views shatters my hope for mankinds future !

  • the best ever, The Band!!

  • Fantastic song, me love The Band! But... I'm sorry I can´t hear when she says "Beautiful" in the end!

  • @eridam1972 can't hear it on this one but watch the movie you can see it there
