@PetraFan97 part 2: to rewrite secular songs does not eliminate the origin version which everybody knows. And the money for the copyright of the original song goes to the authors. But the most importatnt fact is, that it is a disobedience to God's Word in Romans 12,1-2. We should fear God more than we do currently and cast out everything of our life which is a contardiction to His Word. I didn't say anything against the use of electric guitars. You can also play sober music with it. Most do not
@MarkOpee1 Romans 12 1-2 is talking about not getting caught up in the world and not living to please ourselves As for rock, and this song, does it focus on God and the blessings he's given us? Yes. To be sober is to be serious and we should take God seriously but God is a God of joy and He wants us to be happy Trials may come, u take those soberly, but God's unspeakable joy, a synonym for ecstatic is overjoyed btw, comes in the morning. If you respond to this comment I wont reply so dont bother
@DarkBluRaven48 You confuse joy with ecstasy. Your argument is poor. You still want to do what YOU want to do: listening to music which does not honor God - even the lyrics claim so. Happiness in Christ has nothing to do with wild and wordly behaviour. We're living in the very end times. Christ is coming soon, so we should be prepared for His return and not do what we want.
@PetraFan97 This is atypical postmodern statement. Of course the Bible tells not what you mentioned in detail. It speaks about sobrietey. Apostle Paul did not use pagan music nor exstatic rhythm pattern of the Dionysos cult (comparable to Rock N Roll). If you were more familiar to the Bibles meanings you would look more for the context and not wif there is any phrase. The Bible also does not speak of machine guns or atomic bombs but says: don't kill"! So the Bible says "be sober".
I remembered the first time I saw Petra. They came to my church, North West Assembly of God. They shocked so many of the elders with the vibrations of thier music. I personally thought the whole building was going to fall. I was hooked then and find myself still listening 27 years later.
@MarkOpee1 i guess the fact that KISS didnt play it until 91, and PETRA did it in 84 might have skipped your memory...lol plus Argent did it first in 73. not mocking you, just do a little research please =)
@eastmaggie@MarkOpee1 And don't forget that this was a remake for Petra. They originally released this in 1977 on Come and Join Us. That version is on YT too. Check-out 1 Cor 1:27.
???? not a cover song from Kiss...Kiss did it several years after them.....Petra was 1984...Kiss was 1989...but they did cover it from the original by Argent ...but who care? ..its awesome!!...THAT should b the focus
Classic Petra is back!! New album out and tour starts this year!! If you like classic Petra please vote for them in the reader choice awards .com poll
I think the origanal by argent was better it flows better, this version is choppy and Kiss' was excellant more like the origanal but a tad heavier, too many keyboards on the other two versions. I love Petra, when I heard Beyond Belief I was blown away. Excellant, their best album ever.. That's what I hate about doing covers everyone comes along and rates the performance of it comparing it to others that have done it. This is a good song, the only version I really dislike is Brides.
Not gonna lie I personally think KISS did a way better job on this song when they covered it. But then again, this song is a great idea and they beat KISS to it so you have to give them credit...
Kiss didnt do it for the same reason Petra did it. Petra is a Christain band, and kiss isn't. Kiss's meaning behind the song totaly destorted the real meaning to the song. Besides that, Kiss sucks. lol.
I just stumbled on this video after not hearing this song for years and its got me moving around my apartment like I was inspired. It brings back so many memories of where I was and where I have come. Good music never goes away we just get older. Ha ha ha ha...
