  • This song is what really brought me to Sabbath... as well as the cover pict.

You can really hear Metallica or even Rage against the machine in this song.

  • Being stoned out of his mind, tripping on shrooms and thinking about some "skinheads looking like some fairies with boots" probably fucked up ozzy so much that he actually saw REAL FAIRIES THAT WORE BOOTS. It's just a hypothesis.

  • Many people say this song is about some skinheads... other people say it's about being fucked up on hallucinogens. I'm thinking about the two things combined. Ozzy got into a quarrel with those skinheads, he managed to escape the fight or whatever and then he smoked some bowls and tripped on some magic mushrooms. While being stoned and tripping he was still thinking about those skinheads who, as he was saying, looked just like some fairies wearing boots.

  • well, smoking and tripping all that i fucking do :D

  • Another excellent song by the fathers of heavy metal. And i've noticed it kind of has a blues-rock groove to it.

  • They were influenced by blues

  • deathvalkyre, i know that black sabbath were influenced by blues. Prior to sabbath, they were in a heavy blues-rock band called Earth.

  • fuckin' cool ;)

  • Sick song.

  • fucking sick

  • "Geezer and Ozzy were smoking outside and witnessed fairies in the park, running around wearing boots. As far as Tony knows, it didn't come from an attack from skinheads."

  • What would I have done without big brothers to turn me on to this stuff. Sitting in their room with the black light posters jamming to We Sold Our Soul for Rock and Roll.

  • Smokin and trippin is all that I do.

    Alright now...

  • this song i frekkin awesome ^^

  • classic song, man!!! ^^

  • It reminds me of when I used to ride the bus back from school, stopping at the comic book store on the way home.

  • dee da da dee da da dee da da dee da da... as the song fades away into eternity.

  • Someone once asked Ozzy what he was doing. He replied, "Drugs."

  • @001Bigred

in his book he said geezer just was fucked up and wrote whatever came to my mind and all of it was geezer's idea

  • Freaking awesome,I swear I saw it with my own 2 eyes,ha this song is heavy and awesome all at the same time,Damn Tony Iommi soubnds like he's beating the hell outta of his guitar on this 1,just awesome!

  • Trippy album cover. How long did you stare at the cover to try to figure out what it "meant"?

  • 1965 California Motorcycle cop helmet.

    Pink baggy cotton sweat pants.

    Blue diapers.

    Cardboard shield and sword.

    Shower curtain slung over shoulder.

    That's what it means.

  • That's literal. You're no fun!

  • Making a timeless work...priceless.

  • Solo from for whom the bell tolls, wtf Metallica fucked up the song or what? Black Sabbath and Metallica are still unstable haha

  • troooooooooooppppo beellllaaaaaaa

  • Black Sabbath tunes stir the soul and mind into blissful fury and understanding.

Very under rated Band. Shit...All you really need to do is listen to OZZY. He is the BEST ever. The Band is undateable these tunes are just as relevant today as yesterday.

Smoking and trippin is all you do....YEAH

  • hey doc your quite right but why do you think that they are underated today? ps I saw them in 1979 at the birmingham odean (england) and when they played this song the entier place went crazey!

  • I meant that when BS first came to the US in the early 70s they hardly got any airplay

I msaw BS in Milwaukee WI when Van halen opened for BS... Ozzy and crew were super excellent Best concert EVER!!!!

  • yep.

  • Comment removed

  • No thats NOT WHAT I SAID

When Black Sabbath first came to th US they were very underated until they got more and more airplay. I have been a Black Sabbath fan for 40 years. In my opinion they have ALWAYS KICKED ASS. What is SAD is the fucked up critics who had their collective heads up their asses.

Black Sabbath My name is Lucifer please take my hand

  • Oh yeah, you are right then.

  • best song

  • Metal hurlant!

  • i like the them together(jack and fairies)..it how is supposed to be...yup

  • I know that most people consider Black Sabbath a METAL band. But at this stage, they were really a heavy rock band. I really think of metal as a lot more high pick squeals, shred picking and more repetitive. Sabbath, at that time, was more like a precursor of metal. They were astonishingly inventive in their riffs and directional explorations, both thematically and sonically. Few, VERY FEW, bands did I repeatedly play the same LP sides over and over. But Sabbaths tunes were just that great!

  • @philipatoz

Metal is considored (or wtf its spelt) heavy sounds, which is one of the creators of heavy metal, along with Led Zeppelin created heavy metal with heavy tones and solos of heavy riffs. LP is Nu metal, a type which mixes rap and metal. A type that is a good example of slow kind of tone is tool, Alternative metal which is slow but DARK. After sabbath, is Metallica one of four bands to create Thrash Metal would be your constant picking.

  • @doomtheguitarpwner - what I meant by "LP" was a Long-Playing album (vinyl record). Guess this is a generational misunderstanding. What my point was, AT THE TIME this tune came out (1970), ALMOST no one referred to it as heavy metal - it was considered HEAVY or Hard Rock. "Born to be Wild" makes one of its first references: "...Heavy metal thunder.." Sure, it later morphed into "heavy metal." And the guitar solos of the period were typically MUCH more melodic than "metal" of the last 20 years.

  • lawl "LP"

  • who care on the genre? important thing is.....they rock and nothing else can touch them!

  • no they r the 1st metal band period

  • damn right and still the best.

  • @crunkalac Deep Purple?

  • @Camelsarse - Deep purple ain't even metal!?

  • @Jonsk12394 heavy blues rock

  • Funny thing would be to look for The Stooges. Different record stores would have them in different genres. It was a trip each time I hit a different store. :)

Genre, schmenre. I heard a grinding song whose title was "REM is Air Supply."

I guess it's really all down to who harks back to what these days, eh?

  • Great as always, you gotta see them fairies man trust me they wear boots,I just put this as one of my fav Sabbath tunes.

  • hell ya

  • papa might have something special in mind for people like you....

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah he does, that stoned girl's REAL special.

  • Sabbaths anti skinhead song ..

    seems they hated skin heads

  • Supposedly Geezer was mugged by some skinheads or something and wrote this tune in a pissed off state, some say this songs is quite simply about tripping...

  • HE SAID SON YOU'VE GONE TOO FAR...CAUSE SMOKIN AND TRIPPIN IS ALL THAT YOU DO...ya goddamn right.

  • my neighbors are hardcore Jehovah Witnessess...so on those days when they get ready to harrass us sinners,I play this loud as fuck and smoke my ciggy outside in a Slayer t... and I KNOW the daughter has a thing for me! LOL

  • @tropicalpimp Haha!

  • fuck er dude

  • she will be mine. oh yes,she will be mine.

  • well... is she hot then?

  • I keep my standards pretty low so I'm never disappointed.

  • When will you and her get it on with Sabbath playing?

    You pimp. ;)

  • awesome dude put it on the daughter and put 1 in it and get her stoned high as a kite and send her home to papa jehova

  • yeah that's crazy and I also can't find the intro for Black sabbath Black sabbath,WTF youtube????

  • METAFORM did an awesome remix of this on Medicinal Purpose Mixtape.

  • awsum song but you cut out the whole beginning, dude. the intro makes the song. very VERY uncool.

  • Great tune!

  • I like it, I like it, I like it..

  • This is 1 of my favorite songs by them!

  • Sabbath were so heavy for their time and this song shows it.

  • The tempo switch at 2:21 blows my mind

  • I learned this song when I was 16. I'm 50 now and still love playing it. It's a kick ass song.

  • Man, you can't start the song like that. It needs the intro, really, really, really, badly. For shame! This video is totally offensive.

  • there is another version up with the intro. i just wanted to separate those two for some reason

  • yeah man i was like WTF where is the begenning... i cant find any other studio version on youtube with the intro...

    weaksauce

but thx for posting this anyway. im just a whiney picky asshat i know! peace

  • To put it BLUNTLY..."that's some good shit man!

  • smoking and triping is all that you do..yeaaaaha

  • The song is simple....nowadays the solo is freaking crazy to play. Thats why kids are giving up on guitars and turning to rap!

  • They are giving up on rock and turning to rap because they are fucking tools haha

  • dude u are wrong i know alot of people and they all hate rap theres no talent what so ever in rap. rock n Roll has all the talent and KICK ASS SONGS. fuck rap. its fuckin gay. Long Live Rock.

  • Actually early rap such as Public Enemy, NWA, Rakim, Cypress Hill, and Wu-Tang Clan aren't rap at all. It's called hip-hop. It's socially conscience. It never got played on the radio. Do your homework kid.

  • This is a great great song! End of Story!

  • fucking class!

  • this is the best music u can here....

  • NO INTRO???? WTF?

  • I was in 3rd grade when this came out, but I dont think I could top the music at that time.

  • you moron, all Ozzy era Black Sabbath's covers are wonderfull, look at the Black Sabbath artwork, Paranoid, Sabotage... you didn't do your homeworks ;)

  • They just don't make 'em like this anymore. Where's the creativity? Where's the balls to step out on a limb and try something different? Sabbath copied nobody!

  • lo mejor de lo mejor!!!Fairy boots were dancing with a dwarf!!!!!!!

  • que buen video

    sabbath es de lo mejor!!!!!!

  • black sabbath were first with everything in the metal genre, there are like thousand examples

  • Don't forget about Blue Cheer....They were pretty heavy in their day and they predated Sabbath by two years....

Just saying BUT HELL THEY BOTH FUCKING ROCK!!!

  • heck yeah, the only lead guitarist for sabbath and he's never left the band,so of course it's him.

  • just to be sure this is tony iommi on guitar right?

  • There has never been another guitar player in Sabbath, Iommi IS Black Sabbath

  • I love this old-school sound!! It's unique.

    Drums, bass, guitars. It's perfect!

    I bougth this album, it's remastered. A must-have album!

  • Bill Ward and Geezer Butler kick ass in this song!

  • metallica lifted the closing riff on this song and put it on "For Whom the Bell Tolls"...

  • Ever heard of musical scales? No band owns rights over them, and since there aren't unlimited ones, it is just natural some riffs seem similar to other ones. Take a look at the guitar riffs, they are not the same. Do you play an instrument at all?
