  • Dunno but in Hawaii we pronounce it correctly UK ulele NOT like YOU kulele.

  • i used to use this tuning but i found it easier to play songs if i changed some strings around and tuned it as the 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th strings on guitar, way better

  • Very helpful, thank you!

  • Good

    Cows

    Eat

    Apples

  • @Mrjordan1586 hahahah i will remember that xD

  • Wow...this was not helpful at all.

  • Is this a baritone ukelele? If not, can u post one of a baritone ukelele

  • I can get everything after tuning the second chord... but uhh I can't tune the second chord sooo like it's all tuned to whatever the arcing chord is tuned to :P and I know it's not right... I'm a lefty too so it's kinda hard

  • All tuned now, thanks a bunch.

  • @GamerGirlPs3 I am a lefty too and I just got my ukulele. ANY advice you have for me would be super helpful, :)

  • @Have2havemusic96 lol same >.<

  • does it matter if I am a lefty?

  • so simple, thanks

  • i'm sorry but i am a beginner i don't understand any of these words what the hell.

  • that was so fuckin confusing.

  • awesome....my life savior. lol. i had a hard time tuning mine with an auto tuner until i found you.Thank you thank you.:)

  • Lol gay chickens eat anus lmfao

  • Good way I remember the string names. GCEA ...gay chickens eat anus's. your welcome

  • Holy shit, thank you. I couldn't get mine tuned for shit until I watched you. :)

  • this is not G C E A tuning!

    its F# B D# G#

  • @wychki35 good...i'm not the only one who noticed that then...

  • wow ukelele is supossed to be chill u guys sound like abunch of video game nerds.

  • @Jackfrost181 Ukulele is for anybody who wants to play it, nerd or not. Instruments are not limited to your social status.

  • Oh lord. Mine is way off...

  • @CrayonsNWafflecones his tuning is a half step down. ignore his tuning -.-

  • when you're showing a lesson to beginners you can't just say "get this second note here where it is there" Retard. Where is here and there? -.-

  • but what if they are all out of tune and you cant even tune 1 of the strings?

  • This has helped me so much - I bought it, and it was tuned in store (professionally) got home, and everything I plyed sounded weird, so I looked at this video and now they sound great! Thanks!

  • This is how i learnt to tune my ukulele, and now three years later my friend is learning uke so i sent him thsi video ;)

  • omg the person whom i bought my ukelele from told be its F B D G instead of G C E A. no wonder it sounds different when i got it.

  • @prana888 It should be a Bb if you start from F. The other notes are well.

  • D: i'm still having difficult time lol..

  • hmm, are you sure you've tuned to G, C, E, A.. Sounds more like F#, B, D, G#! (half a tone down)

I'm not trying to be a jackass, but if people are tuning with sound from the video, they will get the wrong tunes and their chords will be incorrect!

    C -> B

    B Major -> A# major

    And so on!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong!

  • @norwayserik

I think he's just showing the basic's on how to tune it regardless, you can use this to tune it regardless of what tuning it is!

  • @norwayserik You are right.

  • @norwayserik I heard it too...I was going to say something then I read this lol

  • @norwayserik yeah you're definitely right, this guy's off tune... lol and it's a tutorial on how to tune. how ironic :P

  • Thank you for helping me. Tuned it by ear in just a few seconds! :D

  • i got my ukulele from my grandpa when he died. its from nineteen dickety-two or something. a roy smeck uke. pretty nice!

  • @loveoutloud17 wat i did is i listened paused the vid then tuned then went to the next string.

  • Oh man, I just got my 1st ukulele today and this video was uploaded on my birthday. :D Awesome!

Thanks for the upload and help!

  • buy a ukulele tuner for like 30 bucks easyer i think

  • what about the second string? the C string? its really hard to tune that string on mine and you didnt show me how to do the C string!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • thanks so much! looked for a good video for a while, im glad i found this

  • what is this even good for ????????????

  • I didn't get this at all! :(

  • Hrmmm, I did this and each string sounds in tune to the one below it like in the video but when I strum all four stings, my ukulele sounds like its in minor instead of major...any suggestions? :)

  • MrsKeepRockin: Same here! I got mine yesterday and although I can barely play yet, I still want it to sound good!

  • So arrogant and purposely misleading of this joker to deliberately leave his video up, knowing full well it's completely out of tune. To beginners: avoid this clown. He doesn't know how to tune his own ukulele, so what chance he can teach you to tune yours?

  • @loveoutloud17 DUDE, have you ever heard of pausing a youtube vid?

  • To the Person who posted this video: Maybe you should have your own instrument in tune before you teach others!!!! Horrible dude. WAAYY out of tune. Maybe you were in tune with yourself, but nowhere near true concert pitch. NOT A GOOD VIDEO TO CHECK YOUR TUNING AT ALL!!! Other than getting the names of the strings then using your own tuner to tune to those proper pitches.

  • uh..you need to go slower. I can follow this

  • I cant get to tune it to C its driving me nuts cos when I play songs it sounds awful D: :/

  • Is it just me or is this guys ukulele out of tune? The first note is like F#, then B, then D# then G#... or at least that's what it sounds like compared to my Keyboard. Maybe my keyboard is out of tune?

  • Its scary to tune a ukulele. D: haha

  • I've been doing this for a good hour using the tutorials on Youtube alone... I'm just gonna tune it with my piano, that's how I help my brother tune his guitar anyway.

Thanks for the tip on how to do it without a reference, though. I can't get the C tuned right, so that obviously throws everything off haha.

  • is this for a 21' ukulele?

  • i got my ukuele the other day, and when i tuned it so it was near the pitch, the bridge started to come off. it's g c a e tuning as well, i'm just stuck with a half broken uke in an octave lower than it should be -.-

  • Comment removed

  • so I don't necessarily need a tuner?

  • I'm a beginner and I suggest to other beginners to learn the Banmal Song. There should be a tutorial on YouTube somewhere:)):$:):):):):):(:

  • Omg this video helped me tune my ukulele so that I didn't want to break it! Seriously though, best ukulele tutorial EVER!

  • where the hell can i get one

  • whats the strumming pattern again?

  • You are high! your uke is not even tuned to what you show on the screen...LOL

  • youkoohlaylee

  • low

  • ok is every ukulele tuned liked that? I mean there is a tenor, sopran, bariton usw. ukulele.

  • Whoa! Waaaay flat. But I guess that's okay if all strings are equally flat. Good instruction otherwise.

  • pronounce it OOKOOLEHLEH no worries i from hawaii not haole either

  • very helpful, just bought a uke today and tried to tune it like my guitar, sounded like shit, thanks for the help

  • Can i tune it with a guitar tuner?

  • Comment removed

  • except if you dont tune one string correctly, then the rest are out of tune too.............

  • 0:10... repeat over and over and it helps

  • @kirstybubble1 you have probably tuned it an octive lower keep going higher to find the higher A if yours is MAHALO it's probably a good Uke :)

  • Yayy, thank you, thank you, thank you :D

  • I have a brand new uke and to tune it I use my electric tuner that I use or my guitar, all the strings sound in tune apart from the A string that just sounds really dull and is really loose but according to my tuner its in tune :/ It also goes out of tune really quickly but I guess that's just because its new and a cheapie?

  • awsome dude

  • I just want to know if you can use a guitar tuner for it, the G,C,E,A strings on a guitar correlate with the G, C, E, A stings on an uke right? Or am I an idiot, I'm not very musical lol

  • @moonywap I wanna know this too! Because when I tune mine even though my tuner says it in tune it doesn't sound it to me :/

  • @moonywap A guitar doesn't have a C string, but if you have a tuner which recognises the notes it'll work fine.

  • Dude this is an amazing tutorial from an awesome local! Keep it up and please post more instructional videos man!

  • THANK YOU. SO SIMPLE.

  • same one as mine!

  • Thanks :D

  • Comment removed

  • If you happen to have one you can also use a simple electric bass tuner with a microphone. guitar tuner won't work with my uke for some reason

  • Thanks

  • thanks a lot.

  • didn't really help !

  • I NEED HELP! does anyone know how to tune a soprano uke with plastic strings?? i've got no idea how - just got it for christmas and i keep watching tuning videos and i can't get it right! :(

  • @TNMEBDlove me too! It's so annoying. :(.

  • @TNMEBDlove easiest way is to use an electronic tuner or software, makes life EASSSY! download Pitchperfect tuning software and you're ready to go!

  • That helped SO much, great vid!

  • is it the same if my ukulele is a soprano ?

  • Good lesson but youre flat

  • When I did this when I strummed all togeather it sounded low..

  • Thumbs up if you got a uke for Christmas too

  • @Guss654 I so fucking enjoy with you :D I got a oscar schmidt ou12

  • @Guss654 ohoooooooooooooooooooooooooooo yup I so DID!

  • @Guss654 I wished it so hard....

  • Thank youuu!!! This helped alot.(:

  • I don't get it. I just got my ukulele today and I have no idea where to begin with tuning it? Help? I'm kinda clueless :(

  • best tutorial ever!!!!!!!!

  • I tuned it to G C E A, but to check i did the manual tune just to see if its right and it doesnt sound anything like that.

  • thank youuuu

  • thanx dude! im trying to learn without a teacher and this helped a lot :D

  • @0mfgitzramzi he is a teacher, so... you fail

  • aaaaaaaaa thank you, i've never known how to tune an uke, dont ask me why, tried so much times and couldnt get it...THIS IS MY FIRST TIME TUNING MY UK!!!

  • arent ukes supposed to be tuned in G-C-E-A?

  • thanks, now i know how to tune a uke!!

but dude you are not tuned to A=440

  • My G string doesnt go that high..it'll snap.. -.-

  • @lalorockz Hahahaha.G String.

  • thank you so much! :D

  • it's tuned correctly in terms of intervals. But the whole thing is flat by about a half step. So it's tuned to a Bb6 chord. Just sayin'.

  • that really didn't help :L

  • Thank you so much!

  • what advice would you give for getting the 1st string in tune, when i say first string i mean the 2nd, i mean it as first string in the process of your method of tuning.

  • Nice. Clear explanation and video.

  • dis is low....

  • does this work with a baritone ukulele too?

  • @TheUkuleleplaya I think so ;)

  • @TheUkuleleplaya No, it doesn't. Bari ukes are tuned D-G-B-E, like the four highest strings of a guitar.

  • this helped me a lot thanks!!!

  • this is retarded

  • ohmygooooosh, i can't understand it ._. i just got a ukelele

  • Thank you!

  • WHY IS IT SO HARD TO TUNE IT -_-

  • well, actualy is tuned in your 18 fretted ukelele and with 4 strings, there are 15 fretted with 6 strings, 12 fretted 4 strings or with six, well in other words there alot of difternt sounded and tuned ukeleles

  • what if mine is 6 strings?

  • @zer0statusYT the its a guitar.

  • Warning-- tuning technique is sound but the his Uke is way off key!

Go to DEANDARUBEN tuner for the real thing.

  • I don't believe this is tuned correctly.. As far as the pitches for each string go and how you tune between them, you're right. The pitches that you're actually tuned to, on the other hand, are not.

  • I have a Hilo soprano ukelele and im trying to tune it but it sounds nothing like what your playing and ive tried online tuners but it wont work!! someone help me

  • NOT HELPING. too fast. -____-

  • @FruitsLikeMango Pause it . ?

  • There is a youtube of a ukelele being tuned which doesn't match your tuning. Are you sure you are tuning in 440?

  • can u drop d it ? HAHAHAHA . play metal with a ukele . how weird .

  • ;'( i cant tune at all.

  • Thank you! I tried other tuning videos but my ukulele still sounded awful!

  • can you at the very least say it right

  • are your strings metal or nylon ? aha

    - Victor C.

i hav plastic strings i need to get new ones

cus it cant hold a tune

is it for the fact that there plastic or is it my tuners arent strong to hold the tune ?

  • are you using metal strings? The strings my Uke came with are plasticy.

  • @ThatDawsonThing they generally come with plastic strings but don't worry that's the way it's suppose to be. riffeo01 just has one with metal strings.

  • It would appear i have snapped the g string while fingering a minor

  • thank you so much!

  • thanks a lot bud! really helped :)

  • That helped, thanks.

  • This is REALLY flat.

  • UKULELE not ukuleeleee

  • thanks for this tutorial, it took me a while to get it right but got it in the end with patience (:

  • Thank you so much! I just got my ukulele today and have had the WORSE time tuning it, so thanks :)

  • hi guys! My G string is always getting out of tune!! I had my Lanikai 21T yesterday, and I tuned it. and then start playing the C chord, and then I go to F chord and the G string is already out of tune... I've tuned it 30 times... Can somebody tell me what's wrong? Thanks!

  • @TiagoMcCready Have you tried tightning the screw?

  • @WorldGenoside yes I did. but it stills the same... :\

  • this sounds wrong to me, i use this page : bit. ly/ m8Ifh

  • cheers man im a bass player but just tuned my mate's ukulele and almost bust a string or 2 lol. done it ok though not perfect but it sounds as close as i can get it, again man cheers.

  • wtf are u talking abttt????????

  • i can't tune any higher on my A string

  • you lost me 00:29

  • I used to play a guitar and am now just switching to a uke, and the fact that the strings don't tune from lowest to highest threw me off a looooot.

  • It seems like mine goes out of tune rather quickly. What's up with that?

  • @BasementChampions Well if it's a new ukulele you just need to break it in..

  • my dog has flees

  • @ilikegoatmilk

    How does that work?

  • please ! First tune the video, and then tell something about g,c,e,a ;-)

  • Thanks! My ukulele is tuned perfectly.

  • @DarkLancer97 Depends on where you're from, darling =]

  • Best video of tuning a uke I've seen.

  • hahaha dude you tuned it a semitone flat!

  • Dude your the best

  • the old fashioned way is the best!!!

  • thank you!

  • is that a tenor ukulele or a soprano??

  • I probably needed new cords cuz they suck lmao

  • Arr I have just snappe
