I ancient Rome people were cremated & had tombs. The tombs were nothing more than monuments where the cremated rich & powerful remains. In later time they became columbariums. Remeber Suetonius & others wrote many decades after the event. Unfortunately texts from the Historia of Asinius Pollio the founder of the first public library in Rome at the temple of Liberty haven been found. The truth was contained there for Pollio was a witness. The reason of their disappearance.

Well actually the word Christ means Anointed Savior, it is a title of head priest like Pontifex Maximus LATIN, in Greek is Archiereus Megistus. Iulius Caesar was the archiereus megistus who was sacrificed on March 15th 44bce.He was viewed as a GOD son of Venus ( Maia, virgin Mary, Isis etc)
