To be fair Joeys got talent, but the only reason he's so fast is because he has his beaters set close to the head, and his bass drums are triggered, i'd know i have those pedals + roland triggers, he hasn't got rhythmical talent, his talent is hard to explain :S but yeah, double bass at his speeds with his pedal set up and triggers is easy, if you ever get the opportunity to try, give it a go you'll see.

I just want to let everybody know that many drummers that people compare JOEY JORDISON to are death metal drummers. Joey doesn't blast beat through every song. He's a Heavy Metal drummer. Slipknot is HEAVY METAL not DEATH METAL. He doesn't have to blast beat in every song. So STOP comparing him to every DEATH METAL drummer you hear. GOD!!!
If you'd actually listen to a lot of top death metal drummers you'd know that they do a lot more than blasting. George Kollias and Flo Mounier would like to have a word with you, specifically.
Actually Flo and George are my two favorite drummers. They are better than Joey in DEATH METAL DRUMMING! All I'm saying is that Joey's name gets thrown everywhere comparing him to drummers that are not in his genre of playing. People need to quit comparing him to every rummer they hear. Slipknot, Nile and Cryptopsy (previous material) are all great bands. Its all about the music not who's better than who.
The reason people get annoyed is you get all these kids who think Joey's the greatest heavy drummer of all time, that's why death/black drummers get brought up because they ARE faster and more technical than he's able to play.
And I say that as a guy who thinks Slipknot's first two major label albums are kickass.

@mkstreets He's good, but I still would have to say Neil Peart, The Rev, Travis Barker, and Keith Moon all easily top him. Those people are just right off the top of my head.

Too much leg motion - his needs to work on ankle motion technique - it would make his drumming cleaner and he'd have more fun playing.

To be fair Joeys got talent, but the only reason he's so fast is because he has his beaters set close to the head, and his bass drums are triggered, i'd know i have those pedals + roland triggers, he hasn't got rhythmical talent, his talent is hard to explain :S but yeah, double bass at his speeds with his pedal set up and triggers is easy, if you ever get the opportunity to try, give it a go you'll see.

@lolatmyaccounts i know but because of the triggers he can put the beaters closer to the drum head, and still get the same volume, which results in him playing faster

I just want to let everybody know that many drummers that people compare JOEY JORDISON to are death metal drummers. Joey doesn't blast beat through every song. He's a Heavy Metal drummer. Slipknot is HEAVY METAL not DEATH METAL. He doesn't have to blast beat in every song. So STOP comparing him to every DEATH METAL drummer you hear. GOD!!!

If you'd actually listen to a lot of top death metal drummers you'd know that they do a lot more than blasting. George Kollias and Flo Mounier would like to have a word with you, specifically.

Actually Flo and George are my two favorite drummers. They are better than Joey in DEATH METAL DRUMMING! All I'm saying is that Joey's name gets thrown everywhere comparing him to drummers that are not in his genre of playing. People need to quit comparing him to every rummer they hear. Slipknot, Nile and Cryptopsy (previous material) are all great bands. Its all about the music not who's better than who.

The reason people get annoyed is you get all these kids who think Joey's the greatest heavy drummer of all time, that's why death/black drummers get brought up because they ARE faster and more technical than he's able to play.
And I say that as a guy who thinks Slipknot's first two major label albums are kickass.
