  • When you name a band after a method by which to take pure L.S.D., the music becomes a trip...

  • Einar u suck...

  • The Sugarcubes filled the gap in the sagging American/Icelandic relationship. Until The Sugarcubes, we thought Iceland was Greenland. Thanks, Bjork.

    Sincerely,

    Uncle Sam

  • "I just want to say one word to you. Just-- one word." "Yes, sir?" "Are you listening?" "Yes, sir, I am." "Plastics." "Exactly how do you mean?" "There's a great future in plastics! Think of that. Will you think of that?" "Yes, sir, I will." "OK, 'nough said. That's a deal. Oh, and Benjamin--" "Yes, sir?" "Try playing 'Glim Glim To Ta Ta" (also on Youtube) simultaneously with the Sugarcubes' 'Dear Plastic.' It's dadalicious!" "O, I shall, sir." "Solid. Word to Mrs. Robinson."
  • "Thank you, sir. I will."

  • She's really Punk!

  • why do i like this song so much?! i don't even know what she or he is saying, but it doesn't really matter.

  • this song is awesomeee

  • Anceint pagan rites rendered in an ancient toungue. Behold, the troubodors open a portal laying their muse skyclad as an offering for the willing overlord.

    Portal gain me a wish.

    Read the "Kaelvela".

Then take these words to heart.

  • Blessed Be and Now please stop opening portals, you don't know what is going to come out of the otherside.

    Read the Elder Sagas....

  • If Bjork came out of the portal, that would be great. She's so hot. I would like to navigate her river.

  • hay guys what's going on in this inline?

  • THey are relating Alchemy to financial credit. "Plastic, don't do anything that you aren't programmed to do." is one line. On the recording anyway.

  • I mean she always looks good... but especially here - this cool short hair... it's pretty - pretty sweet.

  • okay are there any other bands from around then that sounded like this? i really would like to check them out. this is great.

  • I love the lyrics! They´re so cute. :D

  • You gotta love these crazy scandinavians.

  • icelandians?

  • Iceland is part of Scandinavia. They all share a simalar heritage. The Rus. Known to Europe as the river kings or Vikings.

  • Really...I thought that Iceland was an independent country when did it become part of scandinavia? or is it Norway

  • Scandinavia is more of a nation indentity not a territorial boundry.

It has a convulauted history of many peoples in a wide dispersion.

Scandinavians were one of the first civilistations to use writing and have a published religion.

  • oh..

So Groenland is part of Scandinavia too? After all, the inuit population entirely descends from Erik le Rouge...

  • I am not going as far as that. Like I said before, Scandinavia is a nation indentity. A nation is composed of it's people not a physical boundry. The people in Greenland now would not qualify as Scandinavia. The Inuit can't be entirely decended from Erik Rougue. There were other nomands than the Inuit in the region. The Inuit just could hang tight in the winter. Upics and others had contact too.

  • Icelandics*

  • normally Scandinavia is shared by Norway Denmark and Sweden (Iceland and Finland are not included).

  • Iceland was part of Denmark for years. How can it not be included. The people in Finland share similar heritage. People always adhere to these arbitrary rules. Does it come from a provincial attitude? Most likely.

Bjork claims that she herself is Scandinavian in the song 'Hunter' from 1998's "Homogenic".

Bjorks sings, "I thought I could organize freedom. How Scandinavian of me."

    Ruminate on that.

  • Fine, fine they are Scandinavians, you win! sheeesh!! now can we go back to enjoying the music...can we all agree now let me have a hell yeah!!!

  • Hell yeah.

  • thank you

  • just because she says .how scandinavian of me, doesn`t mean she consider herself scandinavian, this is obvious

and about this comment she says in an interview"we don't like scandinavians, icelandics don't like scandinavians because they are so organized... "and so on something like this

  • Oh, she is speaking from an understood third person point of view. That is a valid claim. Bjork could well be making an statement of the conjectured sentiment of a person who is Scandinavian.

I can get that, I a will consider it a good possibility. However Bjork may not share that sentiment with the whole of Iceland.

    I like you, you're a thinker.

  • Whyyyyy?

  • I love this song so much! P-p-p-plastic N-n-n-nylon T-t-t-terylene Made of atoms by tender fingers and determined heads of inventors tickling, perfection P-p-p-plastic R-r-r-rayon..
  • amazing !

  • Are the lyrics song in Icelandic?

  • yes, sure, pure icelandic. Einar shouting: ég vil bara... = I just want to...

    kæra plast = dear plastic

  • Read on Wikipedia that Icelandic is a very ancient language, little changed since the Vikings. Cool.

  • :P wikipedia the encyclopeida of disinformation.First off vikings are not necesarily a national identity but a term used on certain profession carry out by norsemen which was:......tadah! piracy!!!

  • Technically it was the klinker built longships that could navigate rivers that gave them the moniker 'river kings' or 'wik kings' that eventually changed to the cap. Vikings. It was based on the mode of transport not the occupation. Norse people called themselves 'the rus'. Norsemen were traders first. They had there own alphabet and numerals long before the rest of Europe.

Pirates, raiders? maybe. Most likely the 'Rus' were a victim of bad PR. They did know the sword, spear, and bows well.

  • They certainly were traders, and their initial relations with Europe in 7th century were commercial, but they also pillaged half of Europe and eventually conquered/occupied part of it during the 9th century, staying there till the middle of 11th century. They even passed Gibraltar to go in Mediterranean Sea as far as Sicilia and Pise. The boats of the viking seamen were called snekka. These viking invaders were the elite aristocracy of the scandinavian people, the rest weren't warriors.

  • I don't know if I have Rus heritage or not.

Some time during the 10th century, Inner European ruling families placed monarchs in Scandinavia just like every where else in Europe. It's hard to say no to people with so much gatherd wealth.

The ruling families had a great influence. After this era, longships diminished, nomadic living diminished, along with much of the original Rus culture. Most moved East and founded Russia. What was left in Scandinavia was not much different than Europe.

  • :))

  • I love funny crazy unique faces, like Björk and Einar. ^^

  • Eunir Is the male version of Bjork trust me his voice is goodd

  • You will learn to love Einar.

  • Thank god Bjork went solo.

  • Uh huh. Bjork is one of the most original artists in the history of popular music. The Sugarcubes were a fun band the proceeded the genius that was soon to follow.

  • Where is this from ? "The Video/DVD" ?

  • i don't like Einar...

  • Oh come on The Cubes are fine with just Bjork, but the exchange in vocals made it so interesting and unique. The dude hates lobster which is a minus here but added to the campy sound I loved. Icelandic or English.

  • P-P-P-PLASTIC! HAHA THAT IS COOL

  • insane plastic! around me!AAaAaAAaaA! :D kochana bjork !awesome!

  • Thank you soooo much! It brings me back in time. Great footage.

  • Plastic, plastic, plastic...

  • ''They said that there was possible to change shit into glod...' Says Einar in the first verse...Check out ghostdigital with Einar and Curver if you like his creative bullshit.

  • i like einar

  • Oooh thank you for putting this gem up! I have the cd, like the song much, but the real greatness emerges when watching Björk and Einer interact. I never knew they were so flirty together! Very fun video. I love Björk's solo work, but I will probably always prefer her Sugarcubes work. WoW!
