Anceint pagan rites rendered in an ancient toungue. Behold, the troubodors open a portal laying their muse skyclad as an offering for the willing overlord.
I am not going as far as that. Like I said before, Scandinavia is a nation indentity. A nation is composed of it's people not a physical boundry. The people in Greenland now would not qualify as Scandinavia. The Inuit can't be entirely decended from Erik Rougue. There were other nomands than the Inuit in the region. The Inuit just could hang tight in the winter. Upics and others had contact too.
Iceland was part of Denmark for years. How can it not be included. The people in Finland share similar heritage. People always adhere to these arbitrary rules. Does it come from a provincial attitude? Most likely.
Bjork claims that she herself is Scandinavian in the song 'Hunter' from 1998's "Homogenic".
Bjorks sings, "I thought I could organize freedom. How Scandinavian of me."
just because she says .how scandinavian of me, doesn`t mean she consider herself scandinavian, this is obvious
and about this comment she says in an interview"we don't like scandinavians, icelandics don't like scandinavians because they are so organized... "and so on something like this
Oh, she is speaking from an understood third person point of view. That is a valid claim. Bjork could well be making an statement of the conjectured sentiment of a person who is Scandinavian.
I can get that, I a will consider it a good possibility. However Bjork may not share that sentiment with the whole of Iceland.
I love this song so much! P-p-p-plastic N-n-n-nylon T-t-t-terylene Made of atoms by tender fingers and determined heads of inventors tickling, perfection P-p-p-plastic R-r-r-rayon..
:P wikipedia the encyclopeida of disinformation.First off vikings are not necesarily a national identity but a term used on certain profession carry out by norsemen which was:......tadah! piracy!!!
Technically it was the klinker built longships that could navigate rivers that gave them the moniker 'river kings' or 'wik kings' that eventually changed to the cap. Vikings. It was based on the mode of transport not the occupation. Norse people called themselves 'the rus'. Norsemen were traders first. They had there own alphabet and numerals long before the rest of Europe.
Pirates, raiders? maybe. Most likely the 'Rus' were a victim of bad PR. They did know the sword, spear, and bows well.
They certainly were traders, and their initial relations with Europe in 7th century were commercial, but they also pillaged half of Europe and eventually conquered/occupied part of it during the 9th century, staying there till the middle of 11th century. They even passed Gibraltar to go in Mediterranean Sea as far as Sicilia and Pise. The boats of the viking seamen were called snekka. These viking invaders were the elite aristocracy of the scandinavian people, the rest weren't warriors.
Some time during the 10th century, Inner European ruling families placed monarchs in Scandinavia just like every where else in Europe. It's hard to say no to people with so much gatherd wealth.
The ruling families had a great influence. After this era, longships diminished, nomadic living diminished, along with much of the original Rus culture. Most moved East and founded Russia. What was left in Scandinavia was not much different than Europe.
Uh huh. Bjork is one of the most original artists in the history of popular music. The Sugarcubes were a fun band the proceeded the genius that was soon to follow.
Oh come on The Cubes are fine with just Bjork, but the exchange in vocals made it so interesting and unique. The dude hates lobster which is a minus here but added to the campy sound I loved. Icelandic or English.

Scandinavia is more of a nation indentity not a territorial boundry.
It has a convulauted history of many peoples in a wide dispersion.
Scandinavians were one of the first civilistations to use writing and have a published religion.
