Amelia is not a bad little girl. She just didn't like people teasing her father, but went about it wrong and held it against him for his weight problem. I think they both had to learn something, as Amelia should've loved her father for who he is, and she did, but went about it all wrong. Then her father went about it wrong too to think that he wasn't needed by anybody.

If you all watch carefully from 9:23 to 9:32 you will realize that every blind kid has bright blue-sky eyes. Adam and Mary have also clear blue eyes. It is been scientifically proved that people with blue eyes are more propense to develop eye-sight problems than those with diferent iris color. That has a simple explanation: Blue eyes have very little melanin (the clearest they are, the less melanin), melanin, being in our skin, eyes or hair, protect us from damaging espectrums such as uvlight..

i don't think the girl is too ungrateful, she loves her Dad. This all seemed to start when Laura and the others laughed at her Dad. It's not that she's a bad kids, she just wants to it in. She's still pretty young, kids get some weird notions sometimes. I wonder though what i would do if that was my Dad, i know what i would like to do...but saying and doing are two different things....
So Mr Bevins, a lovely man, ends up with a broken back because his daughter is ashamed of him. And she is ashamed of him because of the way in which other people treat his physical condition. This is so sad and heartbreaking, and also ridiculous. He is the adult and the parent, and however much he loves his daughter and doesn't want to embarrass her, he should be laying down the rules, and not putting himself through this.

Not once did Charles think about going to get Dr. Baker who was in another town dealing with their illnesses. That is until Charles thought Laura had came down with what Mr. Edwards daughter had. Then he off and ran to try and get Dr. Baker.
