The AOW pertains ONLY to firearm related type weapons under both the NFA and more specifically, the 68' GCA. Now, not every state proscribes this type of conduct. However of he's in Ill, or NY or some other progressive controlled state, then yeah it's prolly illegal- because they only proscribe law abiding citizens from protecting themselves. @cjeffe007 straight shooting. I don't see how carrying a construction tool is a crime, even if it's "concealed". I can carry screwdrivers, flashlights, car keys, and bike locks "concealed" on my person, and its easy to kill someone with any of those items. Some draconian regulations in nanny-states worldwide may regulate the carriage of concealed "weapons" such as this, but it's a hammer. If I want someone (or lots of people) dead, I'd rather use the most effective means: fire and explosives.
Just so you know, in almost every state in the US, this type of "concealable weapon" is illegal without a permit. It's classified as a "club" which is meant to inflict serious bodily injury or death. If you had to use this weapon for self-defense you would be held liable for manslaughter. We have laws in America to protect citizens from people carrying illegal weapons. This is a clear violation and it's a Class A misdemeanor with a sentence of up to 1 year. Know your laws!
I've always been looking for a a holster to carry a hammer, awesome thanks man! One piece of advice: drill a hole through the end of the hammer and attach some chains or leather string so you can wrap it round your wrist. Out of experiece I can tell you that people will try and grap your arm and pull it out of your hand. Also sweaty palms can make you loose your grip and your "tool" flies away leaving you unprotected... I might make a video and post it, show you my modified hammer.
Well done! Check the custom knives subforum on bladeforums. Look for a WIP thread I posted today. A 3%er is having me make him a non metallic knife (CF and fiberglass) with a blade length of 11" and a total length of 17"
@FTWCM I just checked it out, Thats gonna be wicked!! Cant wait to see how it turns out. I have a video up of my strider LM nail and lately I have been thinking about making the exact knife, but out of carbon fiber. I have to find a good source to get some first.
They would probably classify this as any other deadly weapon, so if you do not have a ccw odds are it would be just as illegal to carry a hammer as it is to carry any other deadly object concealed ie baton, brass knuckles, slingshot, blow gun, etc. Nice set up though.
@kayak17 The law in my area specifically ban things like brass knuckles, batons, etc.. However, nothing is mentioned of ball peen hammers. As for the deadly weapon classification, If anything is used in an assault besides body parts, they can be considered deadly weapons, Anything from cars, baseball bats, or even dog shit. Thats just the way the judicial system works. Thanks for the compliments on the rig!
@UrbanSurvivaIist it would be classified as any other weapon, unless you can come up with a reason to have a ball peen hammer in a kydex holster concealed you would most likely get in trouble.... Your welcome.
Unless you keep it in your car, and say it's for work, I like the guys idea about drilling a hole and putting a strap through it, but then it looks suspicious.
you people have issues
