  • Joe Shamwell (R.I.P.) with the writing credit on this one!

  • STYLIN' & PROFILIN'! Woooo!

Who knew Ric Flair was a Bar-Kays fan?

  • this has ohio players sound

  • Maybe one day some record company will get around to producing a BarKays box set. Let's hope so.

  • Hi awwfunkm:I'm surprised that POLYGRAM records hasn't done it since the the BAR-KAY brought a lot of money to that record company since a lot of their albums went gold except for the As One album which contains Boogie body land.

  • I'm not at all surprised. The industry is now driven by personal taste--not entirely, but largely. Look at what Cameo's label did to them a few years back...released nearly the entire catalog for about a year; then pulled nearly all of the early stuff. It's the same people who put together these incomplete compilations: they don't know what the f*ck they're doing.

  • descending1...Oh yeah...I can dig it! LOL

  • Can somebody PLEASE find and post the song "Unforgettable Dream.".this was a Bar Kays ballet hit...Larry Dodsons voice really was all that in this vocal cut.....if someone can find it...Larry if you read this....post it PLEASE---PLEASE..e-mail me if someone can.........LOL

  • thats what im talking about, i like the 70s, i can take synthesizers, not too much though lol , gotta have that hot buttered soul

  • I can dig it.

  • Used by Dilated Peoples off the Rawkus Soundbombing LP.

    Peace

  • The barkays were the ultimate Funk machine! I loved them. Man they don't make it like this anymore, and if they did, everything would be as cool as it twas in the early 70's. Can ya'll dig it!?

  • Sho' Nuff.

  • The music reminds of The Ohio Players Far Esat Mississippi and the end sounds like Songwriter/Pet by Sly Stone. Great song.

  • Soundbombing

  • "She's a bad thang--with a lovin' game

    ...it's a new dude everyday

Until she starts using what she's got upstairs

it's gonna always be that way"

Too true. Thanks for the post.

  • Cool you're welcome, awwfunkme..."Ha da da dee da hada hada da da"...(lol)

  • Nobody wants to see THE BAR-KAYS inducted into the rock n roll hall of fame more than I do.....I mean nobody!

  • As sampled by Dilated Peoples... Soundbombing.

  • Cool.. Thanks Roboshuffle.

  • I'm trying to find this LP or CD. I purchased it when I was 19 and I'm 53 now. It's still as nastily funky as the first time I heard it! Please help me!

  • (lol) Man... I'm going to try and help a fellow music lover find or get this. Hey, you are absolutely right. It's as funky as it was the first time I heard it too.. My older cousin had it back then, I grab a copy of the album in 83 and found another in 90-91..something like that. I still dig it.

  • This is TOO FUNKY. Thank you for posting this album....I have posted all over the net about finding this vinyl "Cold Blooded". I really hope to see THE BAR-KAYS inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of fame in the future because I am really pushing for them.

  • Your welcome,

I think they should, but you know the politics behind that.. but you would think with their body of work during the earlier years as one of Stax house bands(they were a big part of the stax blueprint for the memphis sound) then as Stax recording artist...that should be enough right there, then to add on the Mercury years..

    The Bar-kays future R&R HOF.
