  • I want this video on my A760 unit.

  • One more thing. Go on any chevy truck forum and see all the people that are blowing these g80's apart. Most are replacing them with a auburn or regular limited slip because the g80 is shit. Put more power to the truck , or larger tires or just use it as a truck and that piece of shit will break. Eaton failed on this one

  • The f150's come with electric locker in the rear that will put the crappy g80 to shame. The fag that made this video didn't want to compare to that truck

  • That guy needs new clutch packs!

  • first of all I just wanna say this is a retarded test and the driver prob owns a a prius so he knows nothin about drivin trucks. Secondly if ur truck is truly in a situation where one side is losin traction then usually slow and steady with breakin at the right times works wonderfully

  • How stupid and fake I'm a die hard jeep guy but my father has a 05 cummins and that dodge never gets stuck and it's stock. He works on the pipeline so there are some nasty ruts

  • @MICHAELLEEKLINE i have a 2002 jeep tj and even with 31 inch tires the truck couldant get out of a snowy uphill driveway... 3 of us had to push..this eaton G80 soulds expensive but very very good

  • OMG! Odd responses for this video once again.

  • I have a z71 and my motto is..."never go where a jeep has been..."

So far y'all jeep guys rule

  • something people should know, PICKUPS ARE NOT BUILT FOR OFF-ROADING,

    buy a Jeep or LandRover

  • Comment removed

  • @cb7pwn or a power-wagon

  • @cb7pwn i know dude. they should make a law.

  • You notice when they showed the second Ford with the Limited Slip differential when they cut to it the tires were already spinning. The driver was probably flooring it and overcoming the limited slip with to much torque input from the engine. I bet if they started slow it would have made it.

  • or they cud just actually put locking diff's in...but that would be to much of a thought process

  • so what would be better 4x2 that locks or a 4x4

  • @CaseIH232 if the 4x4 doesn't have a locker then get the 4x2 with the locker, however if the 4x4 has 1 locker(rear axle) and 1 open differential(front) then get the 4x4.

  • WHAT ABOUT TRACTION CONTROL?

  • you're right it's bullshit... i don't sell GM...

but everything else I said is true... I carefully researched it before I posted it so I know it's right.

  • Fact.... the 4x4 demo... the GM vehicle was a 2WD... mistake yes but it proves that a 2wd GM beats a 4x4 ford or dodge under the roller conditions.

Fact... Z71 has NOTHING to do with 4x4 or 2WD GM trucks... it IS A FREEFLOW option available on either configuration

Fact... any Z71 GM truck WILL HAVE a G80 locking differential

Fact ... G80 locking differentials CAN BE on GM trucks that do NOT have Z71

Fact ... G80 is a REAR locking diff ONLY

I sell GM = trustworthy source for info.

    Thanks

  • @abi4life You saying your a car salesman is like telling us that your a lawyer... We all know bull shit when we read it.

  • its kinda funny how withh all the trucks except the chevy that when they started on the rollers the floored its and the tires spun like no other... and well next time i see rollers like that when im going up a hill ill remember to go around it

  • The nice thing about my f250 is that comes with solid 4x4 axles standard. If only turning corners wouldn't be such a pain in the butt. I found the advantage of the lock feature when I was going up a 4 inch curb, once I locked the hubs it went smoothly with no gas applied.

  • LOL It's the retro-encabulator guy HAHA

  • @fuckth3h035

go look on chevys site you can get a z71 in 2wd ,

and silverados do not have front locking diffs from the factory, they have an optional rear locking diff, which i believe is standard with z71 if i remeber correctly

  • Or just get a Torsen LSD. That should have better effect than Ford's LSDs.

  • I could buy a decent truck for under a thousand and get two locking diffs for another thousand. What makes this so special?

  • Ford's LSD are garbage

  • Maybe the other fucking trucks don't work, cause you will never be climbing a fucking hill and the highway department all of a sudden decides to put fucking rollers in the middle of the

  • I can't wait to go up a fucking hill with rollers all over the passenger side now. What kind of fucking stupid test is this? This'll never happen in real life.

  • why dont they just go around the rollers...

  • @kingof4rings Because you touch yourself at night.

  • @kingof4rings hahaha!! Good stuff...

  • @kingof4rings Because its a test smart guy

  • @afghanmanyeah

It very much depends on the LSD.

Also, some can be adjusted to transfer more torgue as the RPM's increase.

LSD's are better than open differentials, but in a case like this, with complete loss of traction on one side, a fully locking differential is best. Offcourse, you often have a mix of traction, and you also have to factor in the increased turning radius you get with locked differentials.

It's all about finding the right compromise for your situation.

  • @Jesus45U that Eaton G80 is a LSD you know LOL. It just has a much stronger lock, many stock LSD's dont lock very much purposely.

  • @popatittyshit

The Eaton G80 can lock fully, which makes it a locking differential, not a Limited Slip differential. A LSD will always have a little slip, hence the name. And yes, most LSD's are a wee bit on the "sloppy" side on purpose, since it reduces tire wear and allows tighter turning circles during normal driving.

  • i got a 2000 gmc sierra with the locking rear diff is it normal to feel it jerk when it engages please answer

  • @joeldude76 Yeah, You can even see it in the video.

  • And what about traction control? Hmm?

  • gmc wins!!!!

  • So whats the difference between a Posi rear end and limited slip? I always thought limited slip alternated power between the two rear wheels, and posi both spun no matter what the conditions were

  • Hey dumb ass Z71 is a suspension package not a 4x4 package just because it's a Z71 doesn't mean it's a 4x4

  • @bagginz130 until the nnbs (2007) trucks, z71 was a suspension package only offered on 4x4s. dumbass.

  • the red sierra they said is 2wd is a z71, their lairs.

  • @kyle17428 however not all time 4x4

  • @Gus297130 True, but its just the fact that they make the claim that it is a 2x4, which is a lie.

  • @kyle17428 You can switch between 2 and 4 wheel drive you know!!

  • @kyle17428 You can buy 2 wheel drive Z71's. Sad but true, they now put Z71 decals on 2 wheel drives from the factory.

  • great demonstration i am getting this !!

  • @rockinfaceplant0000 - if i was you i would look for something like a detroit locker if you do any offroading. my truck is on its second g-80 in just over 43000 kilometers. i should really mension that my truck has never been offroad and the worst its seen is snow on the roads. even the new one bangs like crazy. a grenade looking for a place to explode

  • 4 low??

  • stupid gm propaganda

  • hell yeah noting beats GM and the badass g80 locker ahhahah

    fuck the rest

  • G80= co-co clock locker. mine only works half ass half the time

  • Comment removed

  • happy family

  • Decent vid, but they're not telling you the whole story on four wheel drive versus a locker on the rear. If you're in a situation where there is no traction on one side of the vehicle, as in the video, yes a rear locker is going to help more. However, if you have no traction on one axle, as if the rollers were on both rear wheels, the locker isn't going to help, while four wheel drive could use the traction on the front axle to move the vehicle

  • Was I the only one that noticed that they used the 4WD Silverado ECSB Z71 for the 2WD comparison and the 2WD Sierra CCSB for the 4WD comparison? Haha!

  • @NFSGamerUSA umm no.

  • @NFSGamerUSA

lol... just cause its z71 doesnt mean it's 4x4

and just cause its not a z71 doesnt mean its not 4x4

    .....

  • @TBSSAWDLS2 Z71 Was only ever made in a 4x4 hence the name Z71 OFFROAD and if the second truck wasn't four wheel drive It was missing the 4x4 decals. So NFSGamerUSA is right prob just a goof up with the making of the video or a mess up in editing

  • @TBSSAWDLS2 No shit Sherlock, but it's pretty obvious the clips were mixed up. Furthermore, 4x4 models have a "4x4" decal on the rear fender and sit higher in the front; that Sierra CCSB is clearly a 2WD.

  • @NFSGamerUSA so what's the point? the Z71 don't make any difference, té donc ben épais toé crisse!

  • I don't know why all truck manufacturers don't put this in. On the chevy's sticker it lists the locker at 280 us dollars, If I remember right. Well worth it.

  • @dieselweasel69

Everything else is coming standard nowadays and its a shame! Air conditioning, power seats, etc. But no one seems to care about lockers. If you do anything off road you should have a locker. Even just one can get you out of a bind.

  • You gotta know how to drive a limited slip.. this video is point less!!! If you start spinning with a factory lsd then put your foot lightly on the break. That usually will cause it to grab posi....

  • remake this video with a Toyota a Honda and a Nissan just to shut the idiots up.

  • can i get those diffs for my 97 f-350. got limited slip and sucks

  • Open is shit, but they could've gotten up with limited slip... less gas, slightly apply brakes... but if I had the money I'd still just get a locking diff.

  • Locker > LSD > open diff.

LSDs have their uses though as do lockers, open is always crap

  • A jeep in 2wd would of made it up the hill with no issue ><

  • and notice how the chevy/gmc is used as the good ones, the ford is not as good, and dodge is the worst, and if toyota and nissan was here, they would be behind the dodge, GM FTW!!!! and the locker is awsome also.

  • @296jayce wow you cant even tell that the G8 was put in aftermarket.you sure are a sad case.

  • @robby844 read it again, i know that it was put in, im not a sad case, your just a retard.

  • @296jayce hate to burst your "GM FTW" bubble but ford has lockers on their big trucks (the ones that should have been tested) and werent cuz they knew it would win

  • @robby844 well if you hate bursting my bubble, then good news, you didn't, because GM is still better than ford, we have more strength, better quality, have diff locks on almost all S.U.V.'s and trucks, plus we have better safety, so just accept the fact, GM is better.

  • @296jayce hahahhaahah that made my day. is that why your engine are only made to last 70-100k ? transmissions only 45k?

  • @robby844 well if thats the case, than it must be sad for ford, because we out last ford,

  • @296jayce really? you cant back that up.my dads ford taurus just turned 285000 miles with the original engine and trans.my neighbors impala has already had 6 transmission in it at just over 120k.oh i also forgot to say hes on his 3rd engine.my buddys HAD a malibu with 65k and 4 engines.my neighbor HAD a chevy with a durashit the when he got rid of it it was on its 3rd trans and 2nd engine.now he drives a ford and has put over 300000 miles on it never had any trouble.

  • @robby844 All automakers have produced lemons, period. None, however, are as sour as Dodge.

  • @mahmahmonkey hahahaha true true

  • @296jayce all my vehicles are fords except for my jeep (which was willed to me by my grandfather) and ive never had any trouble with any of them

  • @robby844 ok, u might not have had trouble with them, but they still cant be compared to a chevy, thats the reason ford is around, so that chevy looks even better humiliating u with dodge, toyota and nissan. and read the highest rated comments, apparently 48 ppl voted and said so, plus people are telling u that fords suck. dude, just stop, your only embarrassing your self. its not even funny anymore.

  • @296jayce lol wow my fords have outlasted too many shittys for your comment to have any shred of truth

  • @robby844 ok, well chevys out last fords, your just lucky,

    Found

    On

    Road

    Dead

  • @296jayce i would rather be the Driver that Returned On Foot than to admit chevy is great.admit it.you know they are pieces of shit.it has been proven time and time again.why ford transmissions out last chevy? why do ford engines out last chevy?

  • @robby844 i dont know where u get your info from, but chevy's have always out lasted ford, ford trannys are shit, there engines are garbage, fords look like ass, and are not as reliable as chevy, ill give you this, they are better than dodge in some ways, but even then, still wont be able to beat them, i had fords, and dodges, and chevys, and the chevys have always ran hella better than fords, its proven fact, and personal experience. GM - FTW!

  • @296jayce wow then why do people i know have shitloads of trouble with chevys? why do new chevys develop a knock at 30-45k? why did chevy admit that the engines are only made to last 100k so you come back and buy another one? why are chevy engines made in a gook plant? why is the cobalt and aveo built by kia? why is the equinox and traverse built by suzuki? and my persopnal experience has been that chevys bend in the middle and fords dont.why do chevy tran's explode when they get weight on them?

  • @296jayce the company i worked for had all chevys and some fords.all the chevys broke down.the engines are junk and keep dropping turbos and injectors.not to mention the oil lines plugging up if you dont change the oil every 2000 miles.and dont even get me started on dodge they are pure junk.test drove one and the oil pump in the trans broke out of the casting and the trans seized up.on 2 different trucks one right after the other.and why did our chevys front ends fall out and roll

  • @296jayce under the trucks? we had 8 trucks that it happened to.chevys excuse "oh well its just a characteristic of the suspension" WTF is that BS? same excuse with the turbo problem.i mean jesus christ when are you gonna admit that your product is fucked up?

  • @robby844 chevy is one of the top companies made, wut about when ford had the ignition problem, look at the facts, i got better things to do than argue with some ford fan. im done chevy will always be better, accept it or not, my life goes on, and chevy will still be better. if u accept that or not is on you, you make your self look foolish trying to defend ford on a vid that makes chevy look good, but wut ever thats u, and your life. god bless u, ur going to need it when ford kills u in a crash

  • @296jayce fuck you and god asshole.always some asshole has to ruin somebodies day.oh and what about chevys ecu problems where the cars burst into flame for no reason?

  • @robby844 dude, your ruined your own day, i said nothing to ruin any day, there is alway an ignoran ford fan fag fuck who always takes thing the wrong way, obviously chevy is better, if your a ford guy, then fine, i got better things to do then get mad over a damn video and post shit up about it, can u not see that im trying to end this, i got a life, if your life is arguing over youtube, well them leave me out of it, so good day/night, and burn in bitch ass cock sucker.

  • @296jayce WTF i cant even read what you typed cuz its all fucked up.

  • @robby844 a couple of typos, really, u cant read that still, god damn you r so sad, its a shame to all men. Im done talking to you, go learn to read and figure out stuff in school or some shit. its over

  • @296jayce typical chevy pussy.

  • @robby844 typical illiterate ford red neck inbreeding cyber tough guy, get a life and stfu already, chevy isn't pussy, YOUR pussy, i get pussy, theirs a difference, go molest your cousin or gay partner or some shit, and stop talking shit.

  • interesting .. just weld the spider gears or get a run at it ..

  • FUCK YEAH CHEVY IS THE BEST FUCK THE REST!!!!!

  • @sxlgame is that why it didnt come with the G80?

  • oh fuc I'm losing teh traction, better lock my differential, fuck yeah!! later bitches

  • Test the non-comparable trucks, good work my friends.

  • chevy biased wtf

  • @diesel5355 its not really chevy biased, chevy put these in there trucks as a opption, and standard on the Z71 off road. Dodge and ford didnt.

  • @tom58c not the year of one thats in the vid tho nice try.

  • @robby844 nice try? what is this a band contest agian? Do you have proof of that.

  • @tom58c this one is the one of the years before they had the locker.this year (in the vid) the only option was a LSD not a locker.

  • @robby844 my friend has a 1997 z71 off road and it came factory with a locker in the rear. So i dont know what to tell ya.

  • @tom58c lsd not a locker my dad had a the same truck had every possible option on it.

  • @robby844 is a locker, it would slip just a bit then lock, and he is the original ouner and has no mods on it. And ive read on many forums that these trucks had lockers in the rear.

  • @tom58c uh lockers dont slip.thats the meaning of the name LOCKer

  • @robby844 dude now your being stupid! the diff slips a bit untill the locker knows it has to lock, JUST LIKE in this video!

  • @tom58c this isnt even a full locker its classified as a LSD learn your shit

  • @robby844 now your just being a fucking troll, shut the fuck up, i know my shit just fine.

  • @tom58c if you did then you wouldnt be defending it like you are now would you?

  • @robby844 wtf??? now that was stupid. Nice way of trying to get the last word in.

  • @tom58c but yet you commented back.all you chevy guys think you know everything and you dont.

  • @robby844 when the fuck did i ever say i was a chevy guy? Im a Dodge person. but i oun 2 fords, and dont like them lol. So seriously guy, WTF are you going off about? LOL now it just got funny.

  • @tom58c you just fucking said how great chevys are.shit you cant even remember the last lie you told

  • @robby844 The newest chevy ive found with the g80 option is 2006. So the one that is in the vid is the right year to have one. But agian, i dont know what the "nice try" phrase is ment for. This isnt a contest.

  • @tom58c um try this ones early 2000's not after 05 2006 had the nee rear lights since gmc was first to get them

  • I'm putting a true trac in my truck that is incredible!

  • well, i´m not saying eaton locking diff is good or bad, but, any of the other trucks equiped with a rear locking diferential will go as well as the chevy.... the key is the Locking differential, not so much the truck, but anywat, the video is a nice demonstration of the real need of a locker.

  • If you don't have a locker you don't really have a 4x4.

One front and one rear wheel is still only two wheel drive :)

  • I know i'm probably stupid for asking. but i would like to know...

if the diff locks up? how can the car turn corners afterwards?

    forgive me for asking haha

  • @Davidbirtles1 You can turn quite a bit at very low speeds with a little bit of tire wear and squeal, but any speed higher than 10 MPH or so, and it might deactivate while turning or just by a speed moniter.

  • @Davidbirtles1 The locker will engage when there is excessive wheel spin.

The speed difference between the inner and outer wheels is rarely enough to trigger the lock.

From time to time while making a shape turn like you would in a parking lot or other very tight area mine will lock.

But it quickly unlocks as soon as I straighten the truck out.

  • I have the eaton G80 in my truck and love it.

No reason to rag on the ford or dodge, both of those companies also have available posi-traction differentials, obviously the trucks in the video didn't have that equipment though.

  • jaja why them don't try with one toyota... ?? ..

  • @supraman19 I'm a toyota enthusiast and I absolutely love the Tundra.... but the newer ones will fail miserably in this test...

  • the z 71 chevy is a 4 wheel drive

  • @oneiooknurhookd It used to be - now you can get Z-71s that are 2WD. Pathetic, isn't it?

  • omfg uve gotta b kdding me they purpously floored it on the other trucks and slowly went up the grade with the seira... btw seirra sucks dddddddd

  • the regular lsd which use in drifting compatition does work on this test

  • This may be a good product if you have a stock truck but once you put power through it it grenades itself, no many things to go wrong, whats wrong with the run of the mill off road locker? seriously they work great and cost a hell of a lot less.

  • @natep246 Thank you man :-)

  • thats why u just weld the rear end lol

  • DUDE! I never knew that 4x4 isn't all that it's cracked up to be. Well...at least I learned something today LOL!!! But that GMC Sierra looked sexy climbing up that hill, haha. I want one!

  • Can som1 plz tell me how fast can u go with rear diff locked in 2WD F150 year 2003? really appreciated.

  • @andydmaan in 2 wheel drive regardless if its locked or not you can go any speed.. only when its in 4 wheel drive you have to watch your speed because of your transfercase

  • why the lsd differential works like open? and why it said limited spin, and make unlimited spinning?

  • yea I cant argue with that. if you can lock all four wheels, then you can drive basically anywhere...

I was just replying to marco, the comment below me. 99% of all 4wd vehicles come stock with open diffs...

  • Anywhere 4x4 with open differentials can go maybe. I will bet that my front and rear ARB Air Lockers will take me places you could only dream of going.

  • nothing how about 2 arb lockers you fuck fuck

  • I don't really see where the Ford had a problem. I have an '02 with a factory installed LS differential, and I've never witnessed only one wheel spinning. I go anywhere and everywhere with my truck. The only thing thats limiting where I go is the ride height. I scrub frame before I get stuck.

  • only idiots buy 4WD trucks...?

with a locker on my 2WD truck i can go basically anywhere a 4WD can (aside from crazy mud slinging or rock climbing) and there are less mechanical components that can break...

  • @GamePyro well ya but if you buy a chevy z71 then you can put it in 4 wd low and it locks all of the wheels automatically so you can do all that crazy stuff and then if you do put lockers and a lift on it you will have a badass truck

  • @redneck3913 plus they are pretty fucking quick for truck my 99 gmc sierra hit 70 in about 4.5 secs.with a couple of bolt ons of course

  • @YoungerPrice supercharger or turbo? lol

I'd believe you'd be in the 7s though....

  • @geoBM818 well if i had a better camera i would tape it.its a 99 gmc sierra with custom exhaust,k&n air filter, racing plugs and wires and 3.73 gears

  • Two things. First, only idiots buy 2WD trucks. Second, Ford offers in it's F-150 an electronic locking differential, not the ancient G80 Detroit Locker you see here on the Chevy. I owned both and let me tell you the F-150's electronic system is far, far superior. No wheel spin and no drama.

  • yes the e locker may have its advantages...but thisone seems a bit more user friendly in that it is AUTOMATIC....................GM was first with LOCKERS bub...ford just came up the rear......nothing agianst fordd though

  • my ford has a locking diff i can apply myself that stays on permanently - no waiting for it to kick in. good thing i didnt buy a chevy, huh? raptor ftw

  • how would a locker do?

  • go chevy

  • agreed... my truck at the end :P

  • @redneck3913 YEAH!!! (except its a gmc) but im a GM GUY ANYWAYS!

  • Ive replaced a hand full of these! Everyone of them tore out everything at about 55mph! The idea is great. Though I have to agree with the Swiss watch internals. I dont want it locking too hard!!!

  • damn that ford is a peice of shit.

  • @YoungerPrice explain how the ford is a piece of shit? cause they put a locker in the silverado. if they put a locker in the f15 and ram it would do the same but even better. chevy makes the worst line of trucks. look at sales and reviews from the past 20 years .

  • @skaterboy520c even if the f150 and the ram put in the locker i would still say they are a piece of shit because they copied off of GM which wont happen because its patent by GM so the only way is for the owner to do it.Which requires ALOT of mechanical experience

  • @YoungerPrice please explain how they copy GM?

  • @skaterboy520c no trucks have copied eachother....

just bs... every truck is different... Best American truck is GM... imo

  • @YoungerPrice so is the chevy because they put the G80 in as aftermarket.

  • My solution would be to install two more wheels at the middle of the car and give them open diffs .

  • My solution to all this diff bs is an engine for each wheel.
