I've often wondered why the shooter, Kristin in this case, did not move in closer for a point blank kill shot after the first two shots immobilized JR.
Excellent episode and obviously, an iconic moment in television history..
I've always noticed that Hagman really slimmed down toward the end of this season after being quite heavy early on. He must have gone on a hell of a diet/exercise regimen.
I think the thing about Who Shot JR is that it was an afterthought. It came about because the rest of the season was such a huge hit that CBS begged Lorimer for extra episodes and stuck for ideas they just decided to shoot JR and work it out later. The season was meant to end with Jock being arrested for murder.
JR Ewing- the only man on earth who doesn't bleed when he's shot. And he was shot, what, four times during the series? I never saw him bleed from any of them!
It wasn't so much the ending but what it led to. The episode itself is brilliant showing us all of the suspects and their motives. But who knew that after that there would be speculation, hysteria and bets on who the shooter would be. This was also where Larry Hagman took the art of contract negotiation to another level. A very famous storyline that has been copied ever since. I can't tell you how exciting it all was, you just had to be there.
I didn't know that. Probably the best piece of advice Hagman ever got. They could have just killed the character off but there was such a media frenxy whipped up around him that when producers in America saw how big JR was becoming around the world they must have thought 'we need to get this guy back quick!'
I wouldn't doubt that O'Connor advised Hagman. I didn't realize it, but after O'Connor died, when Hagman was on Larry King with other colleagues/friends of O'Connor, he had revealed they were close friends when he was alive.

LOL! What a crappy ending. Was that ending act supposed to be one of the greatest of US history? Man when the bullets went off it sounded like he farted and when he fell to the ground it looked like he had a bad stomach disease.. pathetic..

I'm up to season 7 on the dvds and there are so many better episodes than the whole Who Shot JR saga.

JR made Dallas for me. He was so deliciously evil. Of course, a bullet is nothing to him. He'll get up, just dust himself off and keep on goin'. :D

If you like to see the gag reel to the infamous Who Shot JR, then please check my youtube page.
I'm not shilling, I just think the gag reel is very funny, when you see the people who shoot JR are.
