Why won't the BBC learn anything from US comedy? Generally, I don't think you can be sure about "anything", period. Religion was created as a set of guidelines to follow to become better human beings. If you look at the times that all religions were created, they were at a time when war and corruption were rife and people needed something that gave them hope. Prophets were never asked to become prophets, they were made so.
I'm not saying people should believe anything. But what they should do is respect each to their own.

The BBC acts this way with anyone. If someone is not so easily offended then jokes made about them are fine it's all cool but if someone is sensitive about such an issue they should be respectful enough not to persue the subject.

I remember watching an episode of South Park a few years back and they showed Muhammad. Nobody really cared about it. Some American Islamic organization complained about it but it was relatively unnoticed. Ever since the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan, Muslims have been more radical. Why won't the BBC learn anything from US comedy? Shows like "Family Guy" and "South Park" have all went for hilarious hardcore Islamic jokes, which some may find offensive, but because these shows (and even comedians such as Russell Peters) let no cultures escape from ridicule, singling out Islam doesn't happen so people let it slide.
And to all the "Islam is violent" posts out there - all religions are basically the same and you can take them to be as violent and stupid as you want.

Oh come on dude. You can single out any religion you want and take certain customs that might've been normal back in the day but not now. I can try defend Mohammed, but none of us will ever REALLY know what prophets were like, same way we don't really know the real truth behind Buddha. Interpretations of text can change a lot, you know.
Religions should be judged as guidelines, not by the prophets. And all those guidelines point to being the best human being you can be. Nothing else.

Generally, I don't think you can be sure about "anything", period. Religion was created as a set of guidelines to follow to become better human beings. If you look at the times that all religions were created, they were at a time when war and corruption were rife and people needed something that gave them hope. Prophets were never asked to become prophets, they were made so.
I'm not saying people should believe anything. But what they should do is respect each to their own.

Sorry, what I meant was that prophets didn't ask to become idols. They never asked people to follow EVERYTHING that they did. Followers took that on for themselves. Anyhow, back to the main argument. You can't single out Islam as the one religion with problems. If you do, you're as bad as the Islamic fundamentalists who are singling out the West (NOTE: not Christianity) for all the problems in the world.

People are always going to believe what they want to believe, and even if everyone decides to believe in the same thing, they'll still find some petty excuse to fight. Before the influx of voluntary immigrants, the British Empire made their fortune by plundering the riches of other countries, playing the 'divide and conquer' card so that conquered lands could kill themselves and abusing Africans into the slave trade.

in quran it is clearly written that Jews and Christians are referred as pigs and apes. It is in the quran you can read it, it is there. Islam calls Jews and Christians as PIGS and APES. It is in their holly book. Anyone is getting the message? It is clearly written to chop heads, legs and arms of nonbelievers, it is in the book (5:33), in the books it says chop their heads, make their arms and legs cross and cut them, or hang them. Yes, and every religious person who says Darwin's theory of evolution by natural selection is wrong always suggests Darwin didn't believe in his own theory as they quote the sentence about the absurdity of the eye, but they fail to add the last part which explained the setup.
If the Koran is constantly being taken out of context, how can you tell that what you believe is actually right and true? How about all the other Muslims? I suggest this is why terrorists believe their actions righteous.

Do you deny the atomic theory? The heliocentric theory? The theory of gravity? No, you don't.
The theory of evolution by natural selection comprises many lines of supporting evidence. It's backed by hundreds of billions of pieces of evidence.
Why attack the theory of evolution, but not string theory which has less evidence?

You're free to have your own opinion, by all means, but given the evidence to support evolution - taken from multiple lines of evidence across various sciences - evolution HAS happened and it is true. Your opinion, if it doesn't match the evidence that has been examined by multiple persons over many years, must be simply your opinion (or theory, but not a scientific theory) until you provide evidence for it.

Iran has executed 4000 gays and lesbians since the revolution. This is the furthest you can possibly get from 'perfect'.
The trouble is, one person's innocent is another's target. The 52 innocent people killed on 7/7 were the target of the four Muslims who decided to kill indiscriminately in the name of their religion.
Whether they were 'real' Muslims or not is not the issue. The issue is that they were Muslims, doing it for Allah, as they had been taught.

i am not comparing the religions it was an example. many of Irans laws are man made like the law to execute single people who have sex. In sharia execution is only to be used in very drastic cases not in the way the Iranians use it also when you look at iranian muslims they are shia which only constitutes about 5% of the muslim world. Basically ur judging a religion by what 5% of its population does. Its like me judging americans by looking at the gangsters within.

This isn't about attacking Islam. The law was there to protect all religious beliefs, however unprovable. Whenever someone takes the mickey out of Christianity, do you see Christians up in arms protesting through the streets of London with placards saying "Freedom go to Hell" or "Jihad in the West"? No.
Islam won't tolerate criticism, and uses violence to get its way.
