  • They did this so well. But I just don't get the choreography, lol. It's just very unnecessary - the song is powerful enough.

  • immer diese hach xDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • Very well done. The choreography is kind of weird and unnecessary.

  • omg i sang this with my choir in freaking new brunswick canada! small world haha

  • @caissiexx it was created for choir singing

  • CHECK OUT PRESENTATION SCHOOL CHOIR SINGING THIS SEE WHAT YA THINK:)

  • Omg this is awesome...I get chills

  • we are singing this in choir..... no offence but we sing it better

  • I love when u can hear the altos sing. Soprano have the melody, but altos have the soul.

    (And im a soprano(= )

  • la choré simple mais efficace et impressionnante

  • good arrangement.. i wonder where i can get its sheet music..

  • they did a great job

  • ya re vrav eo!!!!!!!!!!

  • Very good song

  • The BBC seems to have abandoned this show. I wonder why?

  • the alto's tooo loud.

  • theyre the only version who got the "aya-Ko AY-EH!" right so far

  • Wonderfully different and equally good as other performances of this song.

  • The orchestra is too loud and is drowning out the softer notes.

  • someone's mic is turned up waaaayyyy too loud... as a matter of fact, they all are.. this was really horrible...

  • My year sang this at the last year of Primary school :D

  • Look at Presentation Choir Kilkenny singing it - the diction and overall tone is better although some of the moves are kinda stolen from this...not as shouty!

  • Who else thinks this should be in the lion king??

  • @ezzibbes more Avatar

  • @ezzibbes yeah it could be in that i think its more suited to Avatar thise is the kind of song the Na"vi would sing

  • Wow, this is terrible. WTF is this? The pronunciation is bizarre and way too aggressive, and for what purpose? They sound more like they're yelling than singing. And what's up with the movements? They make no sense. Terrible.

  • this is WAY too aggressive. Sounds like they are shouting german. too much pronunciation of the letters. it's not even a real language, they didn't need to put so much emphasis on the Hs and Ws.

  • Not bad

  • I loved the Rhythm of life version but they cant quite do this. This song requires deeper richer voices

  • i love them singing this song!!!!

  • The Ladies Choir at my school did this! It was absolutely amazing!!! I actually liked it better than this version!

  • Love it!

  • this group did this song no justice

  • @1gamoguy and by that i mean its not flowing and seamless it is to choppy and sounds like they are pushing to hit the vocals, which may be outside of their vocal range, the original version is almost angelic and seamless, this in a way to me has a opera kind of sound with male vocals at times drowining out the female vocals at points where it should only be the females vocals being heard, iam not a vocal couch just love music and this particular song, they should have picked a different song

  • Hi, I am the condutcor of the Sunbury Divas/Sons of Sunbury choir that competed with you guys at the World Choir Games.

You guys are so great - I could listen to you all day! And yes, this interpretation is splendid - just the right mix of consonants with resonance on vowels. Marvellous. And yes, the solo should have a certain 'yell' to it. In this case, the yell is beautifully supported, so great job!

  • Not so good

  • they're not good...they're screaming. ha ha and putting such a heavy 'h' sound at the beginning of the phrases is such bad technique, it's not stylistically correct...

  • @singactplay123 When are they screaming, because I must have missed it? And I'd rather have the heavy "h" and absolutely perfect diction than to hear nothing but a load of mumbling. You have to remember that this is a school choir with no professional training at all. This is a song that many adult choirs would fail at and these guys sang it beautifully.

  • @singactplay123 this song is affrican originated wich means a kind of shout sing is necessery

  • @RyanD1862 Karl Jenkins music has South African styles...south african music is much more choral based, east and west african yes, there is often times more shouting because of the need to sing over multiple percussion instruments. think of it in terms of The Lion King. Lebo M, a south african native wrote most of the music for the Lion King movies and musical. there's no shouting in that music. if you listen to He Lives in You from "Simba's Pride" that's Lebo M singing, no shouting there.

  • @singactplay123 displaying a fair bit of ignorance there sunshine. Do you often have your foot in your mouth?

  • pmg thats so good they shouldve one mmm

  • they should've won! <3

but really... they should be in a "real contest" not a silly TV-competition judged by the public. they deserve to be judged by professional judges!

i've been to, and competed Llangollen (over 50 year old festival!) in their really big competition. strange they haven't been to it!

  • @snorgrotta It was always going to be a fight between them and Only men aloud. Personally I think these guys were better technically (O Fortuna sung by a school choir - epic!) but the Cardiff lot were better performers (Don't rain on my parade just one example). However, I found Glanaethwy more consistant on their singing and think they should have won.

You're right though, the public shouldn't have got a vote in this competition.

  • i know that theres supposed to be a little standing out voice i think it sounds good

  • Some of the voices are a tad too harsh, they stand out a bit too much, especially at the chorus. Shows a lack of balance in the choir.

  • Some one are too loud...It's seem broke the harmony

  • My choir sings this song! I made it to the center in the square preforming!

  • Amazing!!! wish there was something like this in the Netherlands

  • Echt wel :D

  • There is, hm...

    Jij spreekt vast nederlands...

Maar we hebben zoiets gehad, dat heette Korenslag!

  • Wow. For young people, this choir has some of the most powerful voices I've ever heard. As a group, the vocalizing is a bit harsh for my taste. But I think they were just doing their own unique interpretation of the piece. Awesome.

  • Omg, they sound nearly identical if not better than the original Adiemus!!! Amazing talent this group has!!!

  • AMAZING!

  • a nice new addition for my playlist Who's got talent :)

  • I've got goosebumps. Really, this is a good display, mainly because it sounds so complete, not just something quickly fixed

  • Do they speak english or other??

wats with the clothes, they r different to the other ones

  • that songtext doesn't mean anything, the words are without meaning

  • Not really. The language was made up, however it is meant to call the rain. :)

  • I cant help myself... but ... Karl Jenkins is pure genius.. next one to Martin Lee Gore, Beethoven, Bach.

  • Goosebumps all over. WOW!

  • yo i cant wait am going with my school to sing this at the men arena on december 7

  • This is outstanding!!!!!

  • Best what I have ever heard....

  • I love the strength in this performance. Atypical for this song, but I think it worked well!

  • my friend from GBS are goin 2 sing dis for der choir concert!!!!

    they are so GOOD!!!

  • There's nothing better than hearing this song being sung live by a choir :) I was at the Eisteddfod in Bala a few days ago and passed by the pavillion and heard this song being sung and I just wished I was inside!! :(

  • Enya never sung this cantate !!! Miriam Stockley is her name.

  • @Canoukje your joking right? enya has NEVER sang this!!!!

  • @chrisford82 she did ;)

  • @hsbobo1 Actually it was composed by Karl Jenkins and the actual main singer is Miriam Stockley

  • @Canoukje Actually, Enya never sang this song. That was Miriam Stockley. (she does sound like Enya, though, so it's an honest mistake)

  • Sorry, but I am sure it is!!!

Search for 'Adiemus- Karl Jenkins' and you will find it.

The core of the concept of 'Adiemus' is that the voice only has the function of an instrument.

    (Sorry about my bad English)

  • Your English is better than many native speakers I know...

  • I realize it's a taste thing but for me it's a little screamy from the women

  • Each version of this song is still brilliant. Gives me chills!

  • It is not a real language, they are separate sounds (invented by Jenkins).

    So, it is a self-invented language ;-)

  • this is not a "self-invented" language mate!

The Language itself goes back 350years, and its the same language as Enya sings in, hence Enya also covered and made her own "version" of this great song!

So its wrong what ur saying that its somehow "self-invented", i beg ur please that i cant name the language myself, because it slipped out of my head while writing this Wall-O-Text!

But just check any google site for Enyas Song Language ! =)

  • Mate...Karl Jenkins states that the text is an invented language. look it up.

  • Its just vowels - not a real language. Read Karl Jenkins experiment of it.

  • Not just vowels. Whole syllables, with lots of consonants thrown in for definition. The opening "word", adiemus, is a Latin word for "We will come together" (colloquially), but Jenkins says he didn't know that until after he'd released the work; he uses voices as musical instruments.

BTW, Jenkins is Welsh, so there certainly is Celtic influences in his music. This particular piece has African rhythm and drums, but it's roots aren't there.

  • What language is this?

    Very wonderful job!!!

  • well, i really, really love the song! especially performed by this choir. they sound really great and they make a special, but great atmosphere.

i think the text sounds a bit latin even if it isn`t... ;)

  • oh my god - I'm getting goosebumps each time I listen to this version of Adiemus - exactly at 00.59 when the men are "mmm" ! It's so beautiful!

  • love iT! :D i swear when i'm watching it i just sit there and smile...love the waistcoats too :)

  • yay im doing this song for choir and hearing this choirs interpertation of it well .......IM SOO EXCITED TO PERFORM NOW!!!!

  • I love the interpretation of the song..well done.

  • I sang this too,

    I'm in a choir too.

They realy sing it with feeling!

    They have a great sound.

  • It this the 'cool aid' song?

  • i feel like this can be a 1000 B.C. theme song...

  • This is completely made up language. The composer wanted to showe the privine beauty of the voice, so he chosed words that show it best.

It's not supposed to be sing nicely, most of it have to be sang with throat rather than with full body.

  • Their voices sound harsh, maybe its the recording but I've heard this from an amateur choir live and it was a lot more beautiful in tonal color.

  • I don't like how they pronunciate... This wonderfull piece is very sutil....

    is too strong....

  • is this in a different language?

  • language???

    lyric isn't any language

    pronunciation is different

    :)

  • it's not a language, it's just sounds.

  • have you tried google my?

  • Does anyone know where I can get the music sheets ?

If anyone has please write me :))

  • This is great.

  • love Ysgol this is my favorite song

  • Who Cant Likee It ! ??? xxx

  • They sound good but i have to agree with some of the reactions i have seen. This is not a great rendition. Sounds a little more like Last Choir Shouting than Last Choir Standing. Also the comment about dynamics i agree with. They just didn't connect somehow. That's my opinion, i don't expect everyone to agree with it but please respect it.

  • Were signing this song in choir.

    We are good :D

    But probably not like them.

Im singing the Ya Ka ma Part with other people :D

  • worst version so far..

    there pronouncing sucks.

  • this is not how it's supposed to sound. i hate this version

  • I wasn't being mean! I just thought they were rubbish and the other choirs were way better! ACM or Revalation shud have won! Everyone is entitled to their own opinion!

  • Karl Jenkins is probably hugely proud of them all, superb, exactly right...

  • So ummm, someone forgot to tell them what dynamics are.....

  • i thought that was seriously amazing! i really did want them to win, but it was hard coz all three of the last choirs were great

  • No offence but i think they sound really bad! We sing this song in our school choir and in my opinion it is better than theirs!

  • haha bore off, don't you reckon

  • i don't like this version very much either, but i think they did very nicely.

  • I adore this song! they were amazing!

  • They enunciate quite a bit don't they...and scream. Bit too forced I think.

  • this is amazing. i've heard it before, is it in the lion king or something?

  • it gave me shivers:) beautiful.

but there's something wrong...i dont think they're blending well. They're not listening to each other enough, so it sounds like many individual parts combined.

but it still sounded amazing :)

  • Incredible! Not my ususal style of music but it still took my breath away. I got shivers!

  • my school choir is doing this for our christmas show :]

  • We sung this in Italy a couple of months ago, this lot are excellent, it sounds brilliant wherever, Dwi'n Cymraeg a dwi'n llawn balchder of fod yn Gymraeg!

  • Arbennig o dda!

  • Ysgol Glanethwy Rocks Im Welsh sy mae! Lol Just Fod Yn Wirion

  • Wow this is really good

  • we sinG that in my school choir

    theyr amazing

and it sound really nice i loove it

  • wow, another song sung excellently by them, Fantastic!!! xxx:)

  • It is so hard to create that amount of sound when your stood that far apart from each other... let alone stading that far apart AND being separated from your sections! You did it awesomly!

And i know how hard the alto part is... well the bottom F... its so hard to get a big crescendo through that note so whooo go altos!

    xxx

  • voices get lost in large choirs

that's why i prefer smaller ones

(even though i appreciate large one's like this)

But think of how honored you would feel to get a solo competing against so many talented voices in a big choir like this :)

  • fantastic ,great ,magic,wonderfull

  • beautiful...:)))

  • arent the welsh beautiful

  • @blondemax Indeed, and magical,too!

  • Well done YG, rydych wedi wneud Cymru'n gwlad balch iawn, yn enwedig ni yn y Gogledd!

  • @HeyHeyKRJ

    please in Oxford English ;)

  • i must agree with ser2129

theres no neeed for all this i mean there talented kids but so are the other choirs obv us welsh r going to be very proud to see them there representing wales as im sure the english are of thier choirs.

reading down ppl saying about the song can i just say its all made up words in this song and originally written for sweedish/finish/norweigan voices and shud have almost a nasal quality about it

ysgol glanaethwy did awesum with this dont belittle their acheivements

  • Jesus Christ, Welsh nationalism doesn't ever get old does it. Frankly I am disgusted with some of the comments I have seen on these videos from Welsh people attacking the English, are we that insecure? And before you call me a 'Sais Uffar', I am Welsh.

Dwi'n gallu siarad Cymraeg yn iawn hefyd a fedrai'm credu agwedd LlinosHeledd93, tyfa i fynu nei di y hogan wirion. Tybed bysa fo'n syniad i ti deithio chydig bach a gweld y byd. Pobl fel chi sy'n creu niwed i'r wlad a'r iaith.

  • ser2129 - It's not necessary for ANYONE to be disrespectful in ANY way and please do tar all 'nationalists' with the same brush. I believe the 'foolishness' on this thread was instigated and perpetuated by 2 young people from both countries, which was totally uncalled for. Please see my previous post.

YGA - you performed brilliantly last night - so take heart and onwards and upwards from now on and thank you for giving us so much pleasure. xx

  • sorry previous post should read "please do NOT tar all..." lol

    Da iawn YGA xx

  • Haha, I was freaked out when they started singing this.. 'cause a few minutes before I'd been talking to my sister and I was like 'They should sing an Enya song!' and I'd been humming Adiemus all day :P

This made me love them even more, 'cause it's such a brilliant song and they sang it amazingly :D

I hope they win.. they've definately been the most consistent.

And what on earth is everyone arguing for? Who cares what 'English' people call them? At least they're supporting them!

  • They're alright.

  • This is amazing :D

  • this choir is wonderful and i hope they win (altho i would like the other remaining choirs to win aswell)the welsh language is wonderful as well

    ps I'm english

  • This choir is awesome and I do hope they win!

Gair bach o gyngor - 'does ddim angen fod yn anghwrtais tuag at y Saeson. Mae llawer ohonynt wedi pleidleisio i YGA a diolch am hyny.

(Translation : There's no need to be disrespectful - YGA have received many votes from English people, and I'm sure they're very thankful for that.)

  • Don't make a fool of yourselves English people, DON'T call them 'Ysgol'. That, in Welsh, means 'School' ... call them Glanaethwy, cause it has no translation, and it makes sense in Welsh. haha. lol

Cos atm, you are all there shouting 'Go Ysgol!' meaning 'Go School!' instead of 'Go Glanaethwy' .. which means the same in both languages as it has no translation. Stupid idiots, but you weren't to know. =P

  • haha wotefyr nick clapton, obviously you do or you wouldn't have bothered to write that comment! idwal! .. ti myn dalld hyn beth bynnag so dwi myn gwbo pam dwi'n sgwennu hyn. lol a dydw i ddim yn bod yn 'disrespectful', dwi'n trio helpu nw i ddalld dipin o'n iaith ni, a wedyn ma'r ffocin Sais yn llichio fo nol i fy ngwynab i!

don't kid your self either NICKCLAPTON,we don't give a shit about your language either. i mean, at least we can talk about you behind your back. chwerthin allan yn uchal!

  • no offence meant here but if english ppl are shouting anything in support surely we should take that gracefully so what if they don't know "ysgol" is school in welsh at least they are supporting ysgol glanaethwy and to be honest thats all that matters!!!!

  • yes i know that, and very thankful for that, but i thought i'd better tell you, so you could know abit about the welsh language, and then an english idiot comes and says he doesn't give a shit! if he didn't give a shit he shouldn't have commented on it should he!

  • Cau dy geg a tyfa i fynu. Mae gen i gywilydd fod yn Gymro os mae fy ngyd Gymru yn ymddwyn fel hyn. Gwarth.

  • Llinos Heledd. Glanaethwy will will only if they get votes from across the UK. Showing such a disdainful and disrespectful will only cause offense and could potentially cost Glanaethwy votes. I found it mildly amsuing that Ysgol Glanaethwy was being shortened to ysgol - but that's all. Do you know the meaning of every English word? Or even, come to that, every Welsh word? Bydd dy agwedd anghwrtais yn gostus ac os llwyddi di i droi'r Saeson yn erbyn Glanaethwy, bydd yn gostus iawn iddyn nhw.

  • this song rocks! Libera should do this one on their next album :)

  • this is tight. AndI absolutely love thsi song. They used the stage very nicely. Yall better saaannnng!!

  • THEY ARE BLUDDY AMAZINN !

  • Da iawn, bois! dal ati :D

    gobeithio bod nhw'n enill. :)

    Cymru am Byth! xx

  • They're my favourite choir on the show but I do know that Only Men Aloud are better really...... And AMC. But their members are older. I just love the number of boys this choir has.

  • dwin carur can me! ma mor amazing y ffor nath pawb canu fo fairplay ye Go Glanaethwy!

  • Bravo, this is not an easy one, and they did it amazingly well. Merci pour une belle performance!

  • I personally think that their pronunciations were to harsh, and I wasnt a fan of the breathy noises at the begining of the lines. Its good, but i have heard better versions

  • im sorry but thats how its supposed to sound its tribal and the 'breathy noises' are part of the song.

  • Well I still think they over did it, I have never heard an interpretation which was so pronounced, even on the ones conducted by Jenkins.

    No need to apologise

  • fuck the pronounciation, they're welsh. tit

  • HAHA oh PLEASE...

They are doing this show in a DIFFERENT LANG!!!!

Give them a break with your "knowledge" of this song...!!!

Everyone has the right to and opinion and i'm fully aware of that- but they did a damn good job... you can clearly see that the pupils are like 14-18year old... give them RESPECT for effort....!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • my favourite song and they did it amazingly!!! i love it! I got goosebumps.

  • wow, this is amazing!!!

  • FIERCE

  • Goosebumps every time I watch this..amazing, I love it!

  • I love this song

  • the choir is so good!

They sing this song almost that good like a different choir sings it on Karl Jenkins CD.

    You are very good :)

  • I've been singing this all week...not nearly as well as them.

  • really like them, however, the md on the show let them down. he does not like the remotest bit of critism, which can be healthy. for the group dynamics alone i will not vote for them. it is called last choir singing. Not the md with the most self importance.

  • these r the only lot worth listening to (in my opinion) this was flawless

  • How I wish Libera too can sing this song because it will sound more unique when Libera will sing this but this choir too is AWESOME!!! GOOD JOB!!

  • This show must be amazng!

  • my mate was sinnig in that!!

    he's soo cool now!! lol

  • I love this song, sung so well! Though I have always wondered, is it in a different language, or are they made up words to give a good effect? Great song! :D

  • Karl Jenkins made up the words for his whole Adiemus series, they have no meaning, similar to scat.

  • Thank you! Ah yes, they are similar to scat aren't they? It's great that they fit so well in the melody! Thanks for telling me again! :D

  • OOOO thanks :D
