It's so funny, the controversy about babies crying. I have photographed children for years and It was never difficult to get the child to cry. I worked hard to get them not to. It's clear I missed it all those years.
Everyone has the right to express their own opinions... but she's betrayed the trust of her subject and exploited her position as the photographer in doing those McCain shots. That's what pisses me off, the ramifications her actions will have for other photographers. It discredits the profession and makes people (rightly) wary. What a shame, cos I really love her style.
She gives professional photographers a bad name. Her "anything goes" attitude, resulting in betrayed trust of photographers, to get a shot (making toddlers cry for "art" BS!) or make a political statement (bush, mccain) are totally unacceptable and unprofessional. Go back to canada!
I don't see how anybody could call this child abuse. Its an exploration of human emotion. The children weren't made to cry through any form of harm - just trivial things like removing a toy or denying a treat - which is something that millions of parents will do everyday to their own children. The children's parents all consented to this and wanted to be part of it - the parents were the ones who made them cry for the camera, so saying it is child abuse is a ridiculous accusation.
If we all were acting in a completely "professional" fashion nothing new or compelling would ever be produced. I, personally, am delighted to hear what Greenberg did. She's a forward thinker, at least in the art world. And save the politics people, the magazine should have actually researched Greenberg's work before they hired her. Their mistake.
Greenberg is a subtle and crafty child molester. She doesn't actually rape a child physically, She rapes them emotionally and this will live with these children throughout their lives.
Hollywood does it all the the time in the name of "ART" and could care less about the ramifications and the harm they do to impressionable children.
This poor fool doesn't realize that she just helped push McCain into the White House. Obama will lose even more voters if he refuses to condemn Jill Greenburg's action.
You're absolutely correct!! The sick manipulated photography of McCain which Greenberg created is a disgrace and she should personally apologize to McCain. I wouldn't hire her as a photographer if she was the last one on earth.

Ok Larkydozer so he confused a mass media policy as a government policy. He still brings a very valid point about MEDIA, which if your so set on facts countless books are available on the subject (rally around the flag, circle of silence theory, change agents...etc) But it was proven that the hirings and firings @ the STATE DEPARTMENT were politically motivated. Thats kinda related to what hes saying, don't you think?..you know "us VS. Them" stuff?. =]
I was defending the other guys point and since ur so good at knowing books and everything else for that matter maybe you can school me on how great it is that undeserving politically driven state department employees are now getting tenure. Which was my main point, but you chose to ignore it (i assume because you had no credible argument). Go Bush! And giant executive branch... maybe you support the Kelo decision.
You might've gotten a response to your questions about the State Dept., had you bothered to substantively respond to one of my very first questions......
That's interesting. Which particular international laws are you concerned about?
Are you concerned about the numerous international laws, which are in conflict with the Constitution, which, if followed, would be a "betrayal" or the Constitution?

Where and when and whom "threw out Habeas Corpus" ?
Sounds like you stand with the same 5 Supremes who brought us the reasoning behind the Kelo judgement.
My point was about NATIONAL SOVEREIGNTY and the US going in there unlawfully. Don't Twist it to be about some awful dictator that Saddam was (no argument there). Because if that was the case then we should just police the whole world. No?. Are you kidding who threw it out? what about people who are detained indefinitely. Uh Guantanamo Bay... etc. for a great specific example read up on the osama bin laden limo driver. Kelo is in no way related don't group me into shit like that.
You've yet to answer a single question I've asked you.
Again, in what way is Georgia equivalent to Saddam Hussein's Iraq?
Your responses to these questions have been of the sort I've heard countless times from the anti-war crowd. Rather than answer direct questions, you dissimulate and offer un-serious retorts like "police the whole world".. which nobody has suggested here.
Are you ready to act as an honest parter in inquiry, or will you serve up more of the same?
I tend to view al-Qeada like the Mafia. And if you look at the history of the mafia, the "drivers" of the big dons usually turned out to be big shots themselves. Why? Because they got known by the other big shots and were trusted enough that they would sit there and could listen while the big shots discussed business.
The Kelo decision is relevant, for the 5 who reasoned it, reasoned that Gitmo is a U.S. territory, much like one time private property was re-assessed as state property in Kelo.
Wow really? you brought the mafia into this? haha. I don't see a parallel between religious fanatics and drug pushing gangsters. I hope your not suggesting that Bin Baden's driver would 1 day become a big shot. Anyways you can't just do what you want with prisoners, theres a thing that used 2 be called due process. but hey thats just childish and tired retorts u've heard b4.
