The pocket is for putting your ipod/phone in, you're right , it's so that the wire can go up your bag and put the earphones in from behind your neck rather than getting caught in the front when you're running :) best of luck with the fitness kick, I'm on one too at the mo! X

The pockets are also for your keys, Fleur :) Hardcore runners like to put electrolyte packages (those hydration replenishment stuff) in there as well, I believe.

Haha I'm quite keen on exercising and you can stick anything in those pockets (although I don't tend to use them much) but a house key and a little phone or an ipod you can keep in there.

why not try doing pilates? i'm very idle myself (which translates into sitting in bed all day with my laptop on top), and i do pilates to not get my muscles atrophied, basically. :D depending on the exercises, it either gives you very lean muscles, or also slims you down. all this, in the comfort of your home. i'm sure you can find enough videos uploaded on here.

Hi Fleur,

The bottom pocket is characteristic of running shorts because pockets on each side would misbalance the runner. It isn't usually used for an ipod but more for a key and some money. You can tell if they are running shorts because they will have them rather than 'training' shorts won't.

You put your ipod in the back pocket on the shorts, then feed your headphones up the back of your top and put them in your ears from the back of the neck. This is so you don't have the wires down your front, so when you run you hands don't knock them etc. Also, it's a more supportive pocket, so you could put your phone in it! :)

hey, about the wierd short pocket haha, its used for like you said, ipod/mp3's/phone etc, then the earphones go up your back and into your ears backwards if that makes any sense ? haha, just so the front is kept clear of wires that your arms may get tangled up into etc xx hope that helps and made sense to anyone :') <3

I think the pocket can be used for many different things like keys, etc - but for runners who are running longer distances, they'll usually put energy gels or an energy shot (it's this weird goo stuff) to use while they are running to get electrolytes and some quick carbs in their system.
