@jeracci I think it's because the beliefs in that document were being stomped all over by the Union, acting like it was a worthless piece of paper because the gov't wasn't following the Founding Principles of States' Rights. It's still a little confusing still to me.
I am from Maryland and our state would have left the Union if not had been for the tyrant President; now we have Yankee invasion destroying my state I let people know that we are and always will be Dixie
@gadget956 So since the racists out there also will wave the American flag does that mean you lose respect for Americans also? I think that's just an unfair assessment of a symbol that means Southern pride to a majority of Confederate Battle Flag wavers because a small fringe of people use the flag inappropriately.
@gabrielevans999 It was mostly about States' Rights, they thought the Union was unfairly pushing industrialism through gov't policies and unfair tariffs towards Southern exports. slavery was also an issue but it was more from the view point of letting the States decide and not having the Fed Gov't force them because it wasn't Constitutional (at the time)
Well i'm back from war (Afghanistan) ready for the debate to continue, so keep the comments coming (but please read the "more info" section before doing so)
@dslgunner1977 Good points, another one is the Confederate Battle Flag never flew on a slave ship, the American Flag did and you don't see me going around calling everyone that waves that flag a racist
The Civil War was not over slavery, the union could care less about them. It was over money, rights, and wealth. The South should have been allowed to leave peacefully. Now people are fighting in a different civil war. Rights are getting taken away from us now. War is coming. The pot can't hold much more boiling water.
@letshavemorefun.....WELL SAID AND THANK YOU, YOU RETARDS NEED A HISTORY LESSON BEFORE YOU START TALKING ABOUT SOMETHING YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT!!! Slavery was just one of many catalyst that fueled the civil war. You southerners claim to be so religious, well then read the bible again! Slavery is immoral thats why Moses lead the jews to freedom by the hand of god. Im sure there's an animated version out there, narrarated by tobey keith thats easy for you guys to follow!
Someone argued that the Confederacy is “white heritage!” Hogwash. It is white thug racist heritage! And there is a difference. The Confederacy’s founders announced in the "Cornerstone Speech" (Google it) that they had created a republic whose “cornerstone” was the principle that “slavery, subordination to the superior race,” was the “natural and moral condition” of black Americans. The flag, much like the Nazi flag, makes a mockery to what the USA stands for and freedom.
The C.S.A., the Southern Conservative, we are Americas insurance policy weather they know it or not. We have the guns, the bullets, the balls, and the constitution. We remain calm while everyone else screams hate. While they are destroying our country we only vote and hope for a change. We pray to good hope, to succeed, to live. We pray that we will not have to raise our guns once again to defend America's honor and liberty. God Bless America...a Texas Confederate.
If southerners could read they might know what the civil war was about and it was not states' rights we are one country and with slavery america would have been nothing but a failed experiment you people NEEDED us (negros) to build this country
I am not a racist I am a southern born and raised I am a redneck but even not being a redneck this country was founded on democracythe south voted to seceed from the yankee ass holes but we were refused the right we voted and the voices of the south were silenced

I think the Confederate States of America should be independent because they have their opinion and the United States of America never respects the freedom and liberty of what the say.
We are not a union. Secession was legitamate. After losing the war and being forced to be ruled by a foreign government, the southern states are by definition merely colonies. We have to read history books, written by northerners that say A. Lincoln was anti slavery while sending men to kill and die in order to enslave millions of people to a govt. they want no part of.
The lyrics of this song is historically wrong and logically incompatible with the secession of the southern states and it says "I hate the Declaration of Independence too." The legality of the secession can be referenced, and it was indeed by southerners, in the Declaration of Independence. Remember, Thomas Jefferson was a southerner, and in principle, I believe would be much in favor of southern independence. There are a lot of things is this song that is just not right about the South.

*R.E. Lee DID NOT OWN SLAVES, yet U.S. Grant DID!
*The constitution of the Confederate States of America banned the slave trade, so regardless of who won, slavery would have died out anyway.
*If Abe Lincoln could have won the war without freeing slaves, he would have done so.
*Abe Lincoln believed Africans to be "inferrior" to the white man.
*The K.K.K. flew the "Stars & Stripes" NOT the Confederate battle flag.
Keep this in mind when you hear people bash the "Rebel flag"
