  • Hmm basically japanese are Chinese(proven from the hist)however u can tell the diff of a jap as they have a common features.most had double eyelids, skin colour extreme fair, and similar face shape.but there are lots of Chinese immigrants there now, thus some donot look like jap.I have features of jap,and many japs thought that I am jap.basically their features are sharp and unique.their eyes colors are mostly brown.

  • peliculas japonesas..

  • Still my favourite movie... and it's been years!

  • STEVE TERADA (: <3

  • could someone please tell me the physical differences between Chinese and Japanese?

  • Ahh, but you can easily tell the difference between a Chinese person and a Japanese person by their accents (although I may be bias considering how I grew up in Singapore and Japan)

  • Steve (:

  • Dude, Steve looks so wierd with his heair like that!

  • STEVEN TERADA!!!!!

  • Ive seen parts of the movie and Im halfway through the book :) I am in love with the book and I know the movie will be just as amazing! <3

  • I watched this just because of Steve Terada XD

  • Steve Terada on the bike :D

  • d best movie ever ive seen..

  • Whats this actually about? :)

  • i spy steve teradaaaaaa....

  • I love this movie..... And I also love the book!!!!

  • Yeah i was driving and i saw.. and then i...

  • too bad they speak english :(

  • What age would you recommend this book to?

  • She does have gray eyes in the movie.

  • I love this movie, these girls are so beautiful!

  • I am a ballet dancer and for our dance this year we are using 3 songs from this movie the songs are soooo pretty

  • Until now, this was the best movie I have ever seen in my life.

  • @Rimfaxe96 Have you seen Inception? (just so i know if im gonna watch it)

  • @Sdgkiller No, I haven't seen Inception and I'm not going to watch it.

  • Oiran > Geisha

  • <3

  • @HipHopJun Accoriding to the book, anyway. A real geisha is not a prostitute in the least. The very word "geisha" means artist. No need to reply.

  • One of the most amazing movies I've ever seen.

  • just finished reading the book. this trailer is quite different from the image i got whilst reading, especially in terms of how dramatic this seems.

  • that was steve terada riding the bike right?

  • @viet017 Yes!

  • @lovergurlz10001 i agree the grey eyes is an important part of the book but in the film her eyes are much greyer than the trailer i think they hid the eyes on the ad for a reason :)

  • There are many better films about life of geishas. Zhang Ziyi and Gong Li, they are fantastic actresses, but I think it was incorect to chose chinese actresses to play geishas. First of all their facial features really differ from japanese women. And they have little understanding of Japanese culture, mind, way of life and so on. I think they were chosen only because their names are better known for western viewers. There are many actress in Japan who could play geishas much better.

  • @PlasticFrog well no one can tell the difference. you put and chinese and a japanese person together and 98%of the world wouldn't be able to tell the difference. you should be happy they didnt choose a white person.

  • @gugugaga55 Actually I can tell the difference and I know a lot of people who also can. Even my mother can tell Japanese from Chinese although she doesn't have a slight interest in asian culture. I don't have any reason to be happy or sad with this film, all I say this film could been better and Chinese actresses is one of the aspects that didn't work.

  • @gugugaga55 Well thats a bit weird... considering more than 20 percent lives in China...

  • fuck... stil cant find the movie i want

  • Arthur Golden is brilliant! This book is my favorite book of all time. The writing, the plot, the entire experience was sublimely amazing. Although the movie didn't quite do the book justice - as is most cases - it did do a good job. Gong Li who played Hatsumomo was my favorite character.

For those interested in young romance, check out the video trailer for my book, "Soul in Love." The book will be released in a few weeks.

Feel free to rate and comment. :D

  • I L OVE THIS MOVIE~

  • the main actress in chinese. fyi

  • she does have grey eyes stupid pay attention

  • @some1sgurl lmaoo

  • you people are silly. the actresses are chinese, not japanese.

  • the dude on the bike is steve terrenda!

  • One can not comprehend the film, unless he has previously read the book. The combination is excellent. Great story!

  • GOD I LOVE JAPANESE GIRLS!!!!-They can bomb my Pearl Harbor anytime they want to!!!

  • @Peter43John Oh my god man, she's Chinese. :D

  • I just finished the book. And after a conversation with my sister about the movie. (she only watched the movie) I dun know if I want to watch it... but it's interesting watching books come to life. :o

  • A beautiful film.

  • i want a Japanese girlfriend :o)

  • Comment removed

  • yeah, my mistake. No need to get angry. its not like i was talking about your mom or anything.

  • whoo Steve Terada!! I forgot that he was in the trailer.

  • Maybe I'm dumb, but could someone explain geisha to me..are they like prostitutes?

  • @ThreePockySticks Geisha means artisan or artist. Rich men would hire them for partys to entertain them and their guests. They weren't allowed to sleep with anyone other than their danna. A danna is a man who would pay for her training, classes, and buys her expensive gifts for the privilage of having her as their mistress.

  • @ThreePockySticks Uh no :D hah they like Sold their skill Not their bodies More like they were entertainers but not in that way and they were highly respected (:

  • @ThreePockySticks im not completely sure.. but in ancient japenese time ..they were prostitutes..now they dont do that anymore. Geisha means "art" or "artist" but like i said im not completely sure. Bascally, they are artist..they do painting and dancing now ah days.

  • @iluvpandas18 You are completely wrong. They were never considered as prostitutes. Geisha is translated from japanese as 'an artist'. They could have sexual relationship with their clients if they wanted to, but that was no part of they job. There were prostitutes in Japan at that time, but they were called differently, lived in different quartals and had nothing in common with geishas. I dont think you could find any Japanese at that time that would consider geisha as a whore.

  • @PlasticFrog HEY!.. i said i WASNT sure.. o.o gosh..

  • @iluvpandas18 Thats why I corrected you.

  • ive just finished reading the book :D

im gonna watch tis with my friend !! the actress look nothing lyk i expected tho where can i find a man lyk chairman lol

  • one of my favorite movie ever!!!

  • I heard that this movie has Mako.

  • I'm reading the book "Memoirs of a geisha". It is very beautiful and better than the movie.

  • @myruna95 Same here! (:

but the movie helps me visualize.

  • Didn't the mother (the owner of the geisha house) turn the girl's eyes blue? I don't think that they were naturally blue. I never saw the movie. I'm too scared to see it.

  • best drama...

  • What is the name of the song that plays during this trailer?

  • wait, so ziyi speaks english in this film?

  • The most beautiful movie ever made.

  • that's steve terada from quest crew at 0:20-0:24!!! LOL

  • this is a great movie! i watch it over and over and over again!

  • I love this movie!

  • this movie is sooooooooooooooooo good!! its won 3 academy awards!

  • why doesnt she have grey eyes it was such an important part in the book

  • she has blue in the movie instead of gray. just a guess is that they couldn't find any actresses they liked with gray.

  • They used contacts, they could have used grey lenses. I guess that's a good point.

  • @lovergurlz10001 well..she has blue eyes^^ i think western people (like me:)) wouldn´t see much of a difference if they were grey.

but when the eyes are blue, even we can tell, that that´s not normal for asian people. (my opinion^^)

  • blue is more standoutable than grey

its more common to have a chinese girl wit blue eyes.

    i think.

  • @lovergurlz10001 I haven't read Memoirs of a Geisha yet... Why are her eyes an important part? I mean, I read that it was unusual, but...?

  • @bombdiggitybomb its an extended metaphor throughout the book, in japanese culture gray eyes are considered watery, and like water she flowed and ebbed around many difficult situations. They made a pretty big deal about her having grey eyes so the least the movie people could do was go out and buy a pair of grey contacts.

  • @lovergurlz10001 its also what sets her apart and what interested the man who took her from her village and forced her into the teahouses.

  • @lovergurlz10001 ooooh, thank you!

  • @lovergurlz10001 The actor that played Sayuri is alergic to contacts so she couldn't wear grey contacts.

  • @cho24 If she's allergic to contacts then why does she wear blue ones?

  • @lemonvalkyrie I think it's the stuff in grey contacts that she is allergic too i'm not too sure.

  • @lovergurlz10001

She actually does have grey eyes in the movie, but I guess you can't see it.

  • @lovergurlz10001 That way she can be white and asian at the same time!

  • @dragoons9009 How can she be white if she has brown eyes? Its just that they made such a big deal about her eyes being watery coloured like her personality and the entire story revolved and obsessed about it. Its a litle strange to leave it out.

  • @lovergurlz10001 Aw. Guy, where's your humour! :/

  • @lovergurlz10001

how was it important that she had grey eyes

  • @studtimmie

    "eyes like water"

it describes her character and is really special for japanese people, so it is quite important actually

and she does have them in the movie btw

  • @lovergurlz10001

    She did...

  • @lovergurlz10001 in the book it was blue-gray

  • @lovergurlz10001 She has blue grey eyes which will look blue most of the time. The actress had to wear contacts for the movie i think. Even in the book it will say blue grey at times.

  • @lovergurlz10001 That's what I thought too, but you can see them when they have close ups of her face, and at the end of the movie they're more clear.

  • @lovergurlz10001 They tried, but apparently, zhang ziyi was allergic to the contacts

  • @lovergurlz10001 she does have light coloured eyes in the movie lol

  • @lovergurlz10001 I know! It said that at every possible moment!

  • i love the book and move..I read the book so many times already

  • i really want to see this video

  • this was such an inspiring movie, all of the actors did a great job. 2 thumbs up.

  • Best movie EVER

  • cool, gotta see it.

  • i lufffffffffff this movie !!!!!!!!

  • this was a good movie but the dancing was totally freaking me out

  • it was really quite weird :/

  • This is a really good movie! Thanks!

  • gaaah...the dancing part is scary ^O^

  • It is the most beautiful movie!!

  • the music at 0:14 sounds like the music from the echo game scene in house of flying daggers

  • chiyo doesnt have light eyes in the movie!

  • @Jessieebeex3 she does...she has blue eyes. (not grey, but they are light.)

  • they used LAST SAMURAI and The House of Flying Daggers Soundtrack for the trailer

  • i like one sentence from this movie very much

the heart dies a slow death, shedding each hope like leaves, until one day there are none

  • were can i downlaod the audio

  • Anyone know where i can watch the movie?

  • good camera, techniques and good lightning but costumes, acteurs, hairs and story are so bad, many information are not good or false

worst and false movie ever about geisha cultures

  • they mentioned it's not a documentation.

so they don't have to present the geisha cultures exactely the way they were.

In addition I like the story and the actors are also good.

  • 0:56

  • was labert der da am schluss!?

  • There are beautiful women in Japan :<

  • @drakkis Yeah there are but, the main actress is Chinese xD

  • @drakkis those actresses are chinese, ziyi zhang and gong li.

  • @drakkis zhang ziyi and gong li are chinese

  • @gcmack01 My comment was a reply to another comment by Murmedon, where he claimed there was not enough beautiful women in Japan so they had to use Chinese actors.

  • @drakkis There may be beautiful women in Japan, but these actresses are Chinese. Asian women are beautiful; let's leave it at that.
