What a talented musician. If I ever become a famous Christian musician, I want to be like him. I don't want to care about what I wear, or what others think about me. I am so conceited and I think I'm so good looking. I hate who I am. I Love God and he has blessed me. But I don't want to care about worldly things. Rich Mullins is an amazing Christian influence. I would love to see him in concert. I will see him in Heaven, I trust : )
God loves you so much despite your imperfections. There's no reason to hate yourself, because God doesn't hate you. When you find yourself worrying about what others will think about you, just ask yourself what God would want you to do in that situation.
@PraiseTheLord08 Thank you very much. I don't hate myself, I just hate the person I was and the person I am when I sin. But thank you nonetheless! : )
Now if there was any person who can play ANY insturment that person would be Rich Mullins! First part of the concert he plays the dulcimer, piano, guitar and now in this one he plays a lap dulcimer and who knows what else in later parts of the concert!
Oops wasn't at this concert but one in Atlanta . Great concert. Well - thanks for posting the concert- it's a gift to be able to pull it up right on my iPhone and enjoy the amazing music and let the lyrics remind me of God's incredible grace and lavish love.
"...did you ever make angels in the Winter snow?" I think this line has the most irony of almost any words ever penned by man. Great song written by a great man of God.
"Dad could make a garden grow out of Indiana clay, Mom could make a gourmet meal out of just cornbread and beans and they worked to give faith hands and feet and somehow gave it wings."
a verse from one of the best Rich Mullins song ever...
oh i love this song but my favorite that he wrote would have to be my deliverer even though he didnt get a chance to sing it its a wonderful song full of great memorys
The co-writer of My Deliverer did record the song - I didn't even know this until recently. It's very different from Rick Elias's version on The Jesus Record - a very interesting interpretation. Mitch McVicker co-wrote it and it is on his first CD. It came out in 1998 - amazon had some last time i was there! (I'm suddenly the MM cheering squad lol) And it is a beautiful song, I so agree with you!
When a person or group strays from the Words of Christ that is division enough. but to exort, encourage, and teach and preach the word and bring back the lost brother to the faith. Sitting back and letting the church believe that their is no tribulation and that Jesus only saves the righteous, and makes those who trust Him automatically wealthy because there should not be divisions, so let's all be quiet, is not doing anything to save the church that is quickly exchanging the gospel for a lie.
Why are you guys debating this? Are we not brothers and sisters in Christ? Is Rich Mullins not gone from this earth? Come on - if you knew Rich at all, you gotta know he'd hate this. Let's just enjoy the gifts he left us and see him when we get to Heaven? 'Love you, Rich - thanks for using your God-given gifts to help so many of us. And Lord, may we see past things that don't matter ("stuff of earth"!) to the things that do - the "Winds of Heaven" that your child Rich sang of! Amen.
sorry for discouraging you. I was just trying to relay the truth to this man about Rich's life but you are right he'd get real mad if he knew we were making a big fuss about his life. I see a guy who knew no boundries in denominations too.
Rich Mullins was extrodinary, and even though Im an adventist, and in some things we would disagree, he is my number one example, of what a good christian is supposed to be.
@kristimjlove - it sounds like a spinoff jam on the beginning of Who God Is Gonna Use, one of Rich's songs from the album "The World As Best As I Can Remember It Vol. 1"
I don't know for sure, though. That's just what it sounds like.
p.s. I was one of thouse babys that doctors said that I wont survive.I was less than 1kg when born.cant help wondering how,and why did God take care of me and my twin brother. We were born in a muslim country but about 2 years ago Jesus desided to find us,His lost lambs and now we belong to God!=) God is truelly beautiful in every way.Amen.
Why's that? You might want to do some research yourself. Just simply watch videos about him on here...
People like Tom Booth can tell you that he was attending Mass very often, had completed RCIA and had called a priest friend of his saying that he was finally ready to come the rest of the way into the Church and receive holy Communion. Just look it up. He had a great devotion to St. Francis too.
If it's true that he was coming into the church fully, then he did come to settle those differences. One video said that his biggest hangup was that he thought it would turn protestants away from his ministry if he was Roman Catholic.
You said "same reasons for me" do you mean that you think you know what took him so long to decide to enter?
again he never entered he decided not to and yes I know the reason have you read An Arrow Pointing Towards Heaven his biography and as I look at my book shelf I can't seem to find it probably in the last place I was reading it from its by a author friend of his its great if you like him so much read it its a good read his was never fully a catholic but he was better 100% christian and fully devoted to God.
"but he was better 100% christian and fully devoted to God."
Ummm that wasn't very nice.
This is from a 1997 article:
The artist who had been studying the Catholic faith for several years was reportedly scheduled to be received into the Church on Monday morning at the university's Newman Center by Father Matt McGuinness. Father McGuinness, who was unavailable for comment by press time, had been assisting Mullins in his investigation of the Catholic faith.
sorry for that I did not mean to punch a nerve just meant that It did not matter whether he was catholic, or protestant that he was saved by Christ and God was able to use him and like I said He got close but He just could not do it read the book I said its a biography of him it will tell you all about it.
Father Matt spoke at the Memorial for Rich in Wichita. I really liked Matt a lot. I SO WISH that people would stop this debate! Richard lived and attended many churches. Now he's with Jesus where there is no difference in what church you went to when you were alive! Yay! Believers - ALL Believers in Christ are the Bride of Christ. One body. We all have the same desire - love & obey God. I'd love to see unity in the Body - might have to wait for heaven, but who says we can't catch a glimpse here!
James Bryan Smith is the author of the book you mention (Rich Mullins: An Arrow Pointing to God). It's a wonderful book, Jim was one of his very good friends. Rich lived with the Smiths for a while up in Wichita.
Rich was a youth minister in a Methodist church, grew up Quaker, went o a Quaker University... I really saw a man who didn't see Denominations, and that's awesome! This is a Baptist Church where he was performing. <3
Rich took training (I'm not sure that's the right word, my Catholic brothers and sisters, no offense intended) in the Catholic Church, but was oft-quoted as saying he just didn't think he could (I'm way paraphrasing now!) handle it - in a good way. Being that devout, maybe? But wow, Rich loved church! He didn't seem to care what denomination. There won't be any in heaven, so hey, good to get a start here! :) I love that man - he made such a difference in my life. Still does!
Jesus said, "Whatever you did unto the least of these brothers of mine, you did it unto me". I believe Rich did just that. He cared about homeless people and the people who are downcast.
It's neat and weird to think that at this time Rich was on his way to being in full communion with the Roman Catholic Church. It's too bad that his worry about what would happen to his ministry kept him from this for so long.
Super music. Great to see Rich Mullins with his God-given gifts of lyrics and music so shortly before he was taken to the Lord. Thanks very much for this terrific video.
I actually met Rich on a couple of occasions, other than his musical genius he really wasn't an impressive figure to be honest. But I don't think he really tried to be either. He could get under your skin pretty easily but he had a good heart and I am fortunate to have met him.
Thanks! - I didn't ever think I'd get to hear 'Madeline's Song'. It's now just short of 10 years since Rich died - good time to stop and look if we're really applying what we learned from him.
I wanna be like you someday.....Jesus!

Wow, he seems like he was such a simple down to earth man. He doesn't even have shoes on! Haha! Maybe it's an Indiana thing. (i'm from Indiana too!)
I love his music... his songs have so many instruments in them.
