The god in the O/T was a reflection of mans brutality & tribal warfaring ways in these biblical times. An angry, wrathful, bloodthirsty tribal god was what is portrayed in the O/T. @rightlydivide Jesus only claims to be God in John's gospel though. How do you know that this wasn't a later evolution of Christian theology since John is so different than the canonical gospels. It's also the least likely of the cannon gospels to contain historical Jesus saying. Mark only claims that Jesus was the son of man and the son of God. The term son of God is often used to refer to Israel and earlier saviors and Jewish Kings like Saul. Thanks for this material by the way.

He says He is God, others say that He is God, there is even a verse in the book of Hebrews where God the Father says that Jesus is God. If you read the Bible for what it is saying to us, you will clearly see that it points out that Jesus is God over and over again.
@rightlydivide I think you missed the point. I'm not arguing that the Bible doesn't contain claims that Jesus is divine. I'm saying that certain authors don't hold that view such as Mark and some sayings seem to contradict the idea of Jesus as divine even when they disagree with the author such as the psalms quote in Hebrews "You are my son. Today I have begotten you." So that we know that many early Christians did not accept Jesus as either Divine or they did but he wasn't God.

The apostles made it clear that they understood that Jesus Is God; and early Christians understood that Jesus is God also, not sure where you are reading from, but it is very clear to me that they understood the point that Jesus is Lord. @rightlydivide I'm getting it from Biblical scholar Dale Martin of Yale. In his course which you can watch online he claims that the divinity of Jesus was not found in the earliest traditions. I also find it offensive to claim that a Divine being would punish people for finite crimes for all eternity. Surely if a Divine being existed he would consider such doctrine blasphemous. Look at the Hebrew bible and Judaism, their God doesn't punish people for eternity why should the Christian God?

He voluntarily left the heavenly realm and "became of no reputation", although He maintained His divinity. During His mission to redeem mankind, as a man He kept in perfect communion with the Father. He demonstrated how a man should entirely live as according to the will of the Father. It was thus necessary for the Father to give Him (as a man) all authority.

The Father/Son relationship began at conception. As a man, Jesus did what was required of a man (e.g.:prayed to His Father). Yet He had the same authority as God to forgive sins. He said He and His Father were One. He willingly went to the cross to fulfill the requirement of sacrificial death as the Lamb of God.

Allah created you. He fed you throughout your whole life. He gave you your family and relatives, so that you could be happy. He gave you the chance to live happily with Him, in Paradise, for eternity. But the only thing He asked for in return was that you associate nothing created with Him, the Creator. Jesus agreed to be a substitute for you and me by taking our penalty upon Himself. Jesus had to be sinless otherwise He would have been under the death penalty Himself. Since all humans have sinned only God's Son, who being sinless, was worthy to pay the penalty on behalf of mankind. This was the greatest act of love God could ever have bestowed upon mankind.

I am confused, the law which God has told us to follow on earth is contradictory to the law of his judgement in the hereafter? So if one commites sin on earth he shall be put to death. @rightlydivide Jesus only claims to be God in John's gospel though. How do you know that this wasn't a later evolution of Christian theology since John is so different than the canonical gospels. It's also the least likely of the cannon gospels to contain historical Jesus saying. Mark only claims that Jesus was the son of man and the son of God. The term son of God is often used to refer to Israel and earlier saviors and Jewish Kings like Saul. Thanks for this material by the way.

@smithjustinn The Bible is full of verses that talk about the fact that Jesus was God in the flesh. And I guess I dont understand your comment about "later evolution..." ??? He says He is God, others say that He is God, there is even a verse in the book of Hebrews where God the Father says that Jesus is God. If you read the Bible for what it is saying to us, you will clearly see that it points out that Jesus is God over and over again.

@rightlydivide I think you missed the point. I'm not arguing that the Bible doesn't contain claims that Jesus is divine. I'm saying that certain authors don't hold that view such as Mark and some sayings seem to contradict the idea of Jesus as divine even when they disagree with the author such as the psalms quote in Hebrews "You are my son. Today I have begotten you." So that we know that many early Christians did not accept Jesus as either Divine or they did but he wasn't God.

@rightlydivide I'm getting it from Biblical scholar Dale Martin of Yale. In his course which you can watch online he claims that the divinity of Jesus was not found in the earliest traditions. I also find it offensive to claim that a Divine being would punish people for finite crimes for all eternity. Surely if a Divine being existed he would consider such doctrine blasphemous. Look at the Hebrew bible and Judaism, their God doesn't punish people for eternity why should the Christian God?

He voluntarily left the heavenly realm and "became of no reputation", although He maintained His divinity. During His mission to redeem mankind, as a man He kept in perfect communion with the Father. He demonstrated how a man should entirely live as according to the will of the Father. It was thus necessary for the Father to give Him (as a man) all authority.

The Father/Son relationship began at conception. As a man, Jesus did what was required of a man (e.g.:prayed to His Father). Yet He had the same authority as God to forgive sins. Jesus agreed to be a substitute for you and me by taking our penalty upon Himself. Jesus had to be sinless otherwise He would have been under the death penalty Himself. Since all humans have sinned only God's Son, who being sinless, was worthy to pay the penalty on behalf of mankind. This was the greatest act of love God could ever have bestowed upon mankind.

@hish0071 It is vital to God's plan of salvation that His Son be born of a virgin who is in the lineage of king David because Jesus Christ is Saviour and King of kings. Jesus was not born through man but through woman by an act of the Holy Spirit Who implanted the child Jesus in the womb of Mary. Sin came by Adam, so Christ could not be born of man but only of God and the woman. A pure Sacrifice for man's salvation had to be sinless. Bod bypassed man and brought Christ through a woman.

Romans 5:12 "Wherefore, as by one MAN sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all MEN, for that all have sinned:" Eve repented in Eden. I am confused, the law which God has told us to follow on earth is contradictory to the law of his judgement in the hereafter? So if one commites sin on earth he shall be put to death. But on the other hand he will be forgiven in the hereafter because he believes in the salvation. @M45H11 The 'Law of sin and death' was brought upon all of Adam's descendants through Adam's rebellion against God in collusion with satan. The Ten Commandments and Mosaic Laws PROVE that all are sinners and no Law can make them righteous. Salvation is to admit this about yourself; that you are a sinner and cannot make yourself righteous; you need to be SAVED by SOMEONE WHO IS RIGTEOUS-GOD Who came in the form of Man, Christ Jesus, to pay the price none of us could pay. @M45H11 The new birth comes about the moment we truly acknowledge our helplessness to pay for our own sin or to change ourselves from our sinful state. It honours God for us to admit that we cannot EARN His forgiveness, but must cast ourselves upon His mercy. It honours God when we receive through faith that HE came to us as a Man to pay for our sins to save us, because we are incapable of saving ourselves or gaining His forgiveness. THIS is true humility. Let God be true and every man a liar.

@M45H11 If we in truth acknowledge our utter helplessness and receive God's forgiveness which He offers us in Christ's redemption through giving His Life so that in Him, we were crucified and in Him, we were raised from death by His Life, His Spirit, we are then true children of God and we DO NOT desire sin as we once did. Christ's Spirit in our spirits teaches us righteousness so that we learn not to sin. But if we do sin, we know to repent of it and that in Christ, we are forgiven.

@M45H11 The desire to sin is gone. The sin nature has been crucified with Christ. So 'the forgiven' are NOT going to 'murder, rape, steal, commit all crimes'. If we commit these things, it proves we are still sinners and not of Christ. In Christ, we are ruled by the Law WITHIN. Whatever 'sins' we commit are in ignorance which is cured in time as we walk with Christ by faith. Walking with Christ by faith brings transformation so that we become more and more like Him. What about (Eccles. 25:22)??

If Sin is paid by the sacrifice of christ, then what is the purpose of repentance? what is the purpose of satan, if his primary goal is to make us sin? What is stopping us from sinning since it is paid for? How can God be Most forgiving if he requires a sacrifice?
And the ultimate question, the definition of sacrifice is to lose something, this begs the question what did God sacrifice? Didnt Jesus apparently resurrect? Then what did God lose?

To repent is to TURN AWAY FROM all that is not God, including your own preconceived and cherished notions, and to TURN TO God, not just on certain occasions, but as your moment to moment LIFE. You think it was no SACRIFICE to God to EXPERIENCE being a Man, being made sin and suffering the penalty of sin, death? With all due respect, there are many flaws in this concept. You say God became

Firstly - Can the creator not know how his own creation feels, isnt he the most wise?
2ndly - are you telling me that God came down as Man to sacrice Himeself to change a law which he created in the first place. Then how would we explain an immortal being. being mortal at the same time. it defies the 1st law of logics. Furthermore, isnt God still alive? then who died?

Since all men were corrupted by sin, being born of Adam, there was not a man among us who could act on our behalf to satisfy justice. It is God Who said that sin brings death. Dead men cannot raise themselves to life. Man NEEDED a sinless Man, a LIVING Man to appease the law of sin and death; a Man Whom God found an acceptable sacrifice on behalf of all men. @rightlydivide then surely there is contradiction in bible cos if you refer the Deut 23:3 where the Bastard and his or her 10 decedent shall not enter the congregation of the lord. Ive referred Gen 36:6-30 The pharez was born of adultery committed by Judah with Tamar. So how come the bible say Jesus the son of Most high was descend through a Bastard. Pls clarify brother.

@hish0071 Christ's sinlessness does not come through the lineage of flesh and blood but through God, His Father, Who implanted the Child in the womb of a virgin. God bore only one Son. Because the rest of us were born through man, we are all 'bastards', having satan as our spiritual father, which is why Jesus tells us that we MUST be BORN AGAIN, so that we may be born of God to have Him as our new Father. I just pray that the person of the Holy Spirit would work in the hearts of those who listened from the quotations in the Bible. The scripture is spiritual and it ought to be spiritually discerned, how can people discern it without the Holy Spirit within them? This is what the word of God speaks off: That we (all man) have sinned against God and we deserved eternal punishment in Hell. However we do not need to, if we accept that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who takes away the sins of the world.

@M45H11 Read that verse I sent you again "....7But made HIMSELF of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness..." He lowered Himself down as a man. He did not remain man forever, He went back up to Heaven and is God now. Read a few chapters out of the last book in the Bible where Jesus is always being exalted as God. There is also tons of Bible verses that show that Jesus claimed to be God, and was God.

So if God is not a man and he does not change, why would he then contradict him self and CHANGE into a MAN?
Jesus died for our sins? So if I believe, i can sin for the rest of my life because Jesus has paid for my sins? then how would God = Most forgiven? and what is the role of satan if his primary goal is for man to sin?
