Well i did do a study on the British suffragette movement and the enfranchisement of women. I'm not anti feminist. I respect and admire the efforts of women that have fought long and hard to gain an equal footing with men, which they have always deserved. I work in the IT tech support industry one of the last Male dominated industry's. For a few years it wall a all male workplace and we had developed our own work culture which included banter and a bit of horseplay. However when my company hired a woman we where told by management to change the we behave at work. If gender equality existed she should have to adjust to our work culture not us change for her.

Communism and socialism are spoken of as synonyms as well, which plain silly. Communism as practiced in global politics is male dominated, I don't think a single communist regime could be called progressive with women's rights, though perhaps I am wrong.

I think you have to make a distinction between 1st, 2nd and 3rd waves of feminism. You can't just lump all feminism into the same group. There are countries where women truly do not have rights and are stoned to death for "dishonoring" her family by being raped. So, yes, it is about equality, in my opinion. I don't agree with the extreme feminist views, such as feminine traits are more important than masculine. *Any* concept has the ability to be abused when carried to an extreme.

For a few years it wall a all male workplace and we had developed our own work culture which included banter and a bit of horseplay. However when my company hired a woman we where told by management to change the we behave at work. If gender equality existed she should have to adjust to our work culture not us change for her.

That boils down to communities acting to improve the lives of all, in ways that individuals would find hard/impossible. I think you have to make a distinction between 1st, 2nd and 3rd waves of feminism. You can't just lump all feminism into the same group. There are countries where women truly do not have rights and are stoned to death for "dishonoring" her family by being raped. So, yes, it is about equality, in my opinion. I don't agree with the extreme feminist views, such as feminine traits are more important than masculine. *Any* concept has the ability to be abused when carried to an extreme.

If you define 'nigger' as someone whose lifestyle is defined by others, whose opportunities are defined by others, whose role in society is defined by others, the good news is that you don't have to be black to be a nigger in this society

@mylampstand: John used hyper- hyperbole to get his point across in this case. I blame Yoko for his momentary lapse of coolness.. I listened to many radio interviews with John Lennon when I was much younger.. He was always polite and always bemused his often prying interviewers with his humility and self-depreciation. “The more I see, the less I know for sure.”
