  • best vocals of Art, please check out my cover, thank you !

  • This is one of the best songs ever written and performed

  • I first Elvis sing this song. Beautiful! This version is the Excellent!!!!

Like one person said "makes your hair stand". One of the most beautiful songs ever recorded.

I love all their songs. The songs of today are drowned by technology and sex.

  • BRILLLLLLLL

  • a magnus opus

  • i play poo sticks to this on a bridge

  • I've always loved, loved, loved this song. Brings back memories of my childhood definitely

  • goosebumps all down my body because of this song

  • @gingerlady85 I felt the goosebumps just as I read your comment!

  • Garfunkel sounds "FAR BETTER" than Simon!

  • @wlt777 rubbish

  • This song always makes me cry, it always has. Knowing that there is someone there for me (my soul-mate) and vice-versa, this song has so much more meaning than before....and Art's vocals are so touching, like he is singing it to a close friend, even me. Beautiful, personal and profound!

  • God blessed us when he put this song in the hands of Simon and Garfunkel. You see, we are never alone, because Our Heavenly Father is always with us. This song is so spiritual and it truly makes me feel closer to the Lord

  • epic

  • When my sister got married our neighbor sang this song and he sang it almost as good as Paul. There wasn't a dry eye in the church. It still makes me tear up.

  • truly epic. Love listening to it on the headfones full volume. From haunting quiet to belt it out emotion. Love it. Gets me all goosebumpy.

  • @kezzbag SO TRUE

  • oh my god, this song is so beautiful, it's just a definiton of the word "beauty"...

  • It stands with the song from the Moody Blues....Nights in white satin, songs for all generations

  • A person like me, distrustful, barbaric, Demonic, really... listens to this song, and suddenly, I feel like I really might :"like" other human beings... Like I want to "help" them... reach out to them and give them a big hug...

Then the song ends and..... NAH!!!!!

    LOL!

  • @Paganguy1 man you seem like a tool

  • @Paganguy1 I think that you are probably not demonic or barbaric you may be distrustful but this song touches you because you want to trust and be trusted, you want meaningful relationships with people but for most people today life lacks meaning and therefore they cannot find it even when its right in front of them.

But your comment was hilarious especially the last part "Then the song ends" lol, chin up my brother.

  • @Paganguy1 The problem, Paganguy1, is that every song ends. And so do we. So why not think of this as a sort of anthem (at least among your friends)? What harm?

  • I asked my dad for a good song feeling in a mood for oldies, When he mentioned this my first thought was "Oh God, what's this rubbish". I'm glad I listened to it now, It's beautiful.

  • @ITSJaymiiLeeBitch It has stood the test of time.and has never been surpassed in my opinion.

  • @ITSJaymiiLeeBitch je n'avais pas compris, jusqu'à aujourd'hui, jusqu'à aujourd'hui........ et ça ne change rien : ils sont grandioses !

  • One of the best vocal performances ever

  • This song was written and sung as if was about me and my life. I cry with tears of both hapieness and sadness!

  • this is what i call BIG music it raises the hairs on the back of your neck dose it not? loll peace out

  • @ododargo Yes it does. Art has one of the most beautiful voices ever.

  • classic, I love it!

  • I know this beautiful song, which a lump to my throat when I simply read the title, was written in Europe, does anyone know where? I'd really love to know as I had a picture taken with my son when he was very young in front of a beautiful bridge, Derbyshire I think it may have been, and someone in the pub said this song was written with this bridge in mind. Can anyone confirm please? Thank you :)

  • @MissyCaroline1

watched a programme last night about Simon and Garfunkel..and it wasn't written in Europe. It was originally just 2 verses and Paul wanted to keep it that way but was persuaded by Art and their arranger to write the 3rd verse...which he did in the studio. That was a first and only for Paul, he usually only wrote at home.

  • @dave56ish Thanks for the info confirming. I wonder how many people the person in the pub has told that story to!

  • got to be one of the best songs ever written. such intensity and sensitivity. i adore the very quiet high notes that art gurfunkel articulates so delicately. the rest of his voice is warm and strong. it think its fair to describe this as a masterpiece.

  • That is bloody brilliant!!

  • One of the most brilliant songs of all time...moves me and makes me want to cry every time, but in this particular video at 1:30 Art Garfunkel looks like Larry! Where's Moe and Cury?

  • THis song used to make me hold back the tears WHEN I WAS 6 FUCKING YEARS OLD, goddammit! When Garfunkel sang that last "Like a BRIIIIIIDGE OVER..."

    Omg!!!

  • I want this video on my G5200 unit.

  • Tengo 60 años y desde que la escuché por primera vez, sentimientos encontrados me invadieron, ya que es un himno a la amistad; del amigo que entrega todo sin pedir nada a cambio, además de transportar mi imaginación a donde deseé. Fabulosa y extraordinaria.

  • Art Garfunkel had an angelic voice. Could have been a member of "The Vienna Boys Choir." And his partner Paul Simon is one of the greatest lyricists in pop music. No wonder this album won 4 Grammies in 1970. The best song Simon and Garfunkel ever recorded. A spiritual song about a friend or God, carrying another during their hour of need. What a masterpiece.

  • What harmony! I love this song, always have.

  • I would like to hit the dislike button on the jerks who dislike this live

  • This vid is popular on Moscow

  • Number one song the day I was born. Very cool.

  • I should hate this song, but instead I think it's truly one of the greatest songs ever recorded.

  • @burf69 I consider it the best song written by Paul Simon and best recording by Simon and Garfunkel.

  • At the time of writing this, there were 7 people who claimed to dislike this beautiful piece of music. In my heart, I feel that it was for these people that this song was written.

  • @burf69 garfunkel one of greatest voices of all time

  • I sing this song to my Mother.

  • Un peu de notre enfance ...

  • i never forget this song i we married on their music in cebu city in 1983 god this was a precious moment for us dawn there in the philippines

  • Beautiful song!! The song will always be remembered !! Wonderful song!! Big singers!

  • I first heard this in January 1970 on a BBC television program called 'Disco 2' The images that accompanied it were of a stormy sea and in black and white. I thought it was wonderful then and the years have done nothing to alter that opinion. Wonderful !

  • Only true friends would do this

  • Perfection.

  • I love this song, it is timeless!!!

  • Listening to this is like being in love - so peaceful and content.

  • This should be considered a hymn along with those such as Amazing Grace

  • my no1 song of all time, says so many things which mean so much to so many, brilliant

  • This was one of the first 45 rpm records that I bought. It was a turbulent time in my life and it gave me a little peace, at least.

  • THIS IS WHEN PEOPLE HAD TALENT!!!!! WISH I COULD GO BACK IN TIME.

  • I think it should have been voted the Number one song of all time. To me it has the same status as a Hymn, I am sure so many people have found so much comfort from the words and the music is second to none, it is extremely spirituall.

  • ...keep your own penis clean...

  • What memories this brings back for me. I graduated from high school in 1970 and this was one of the choices that our senior class had to vote on for "our song". I knew then that this was an amazing classic, but the rest of the class voted for some stupid song that nobody can even remember now.

  • simply the best music of the 70's and before a master work of sonic art at its best. what a prolific yet simple song

  • played for my dad at his and mums joint funeral R I P mum & dad

At a dislike rate of less than 2%, I think the 'dislike' button is a waste of space on great music videos like these.

  • The Song Bridge Over Troubled Water Was Voted As The Number One Song Of The Decade For The 70's The Simplicity Of The Words And Their Performance Explains It All
