  • Oh my, what a sweet spot! This really got me itching for the morel season to begin, it should be just a couple more weeks, I hope.

    Great video!!

  • Nice, and thank you. It has been my impression that not many Texans are into morels... I won't say anything if you don't. =)

  • Always hide the evidence! Nice video!! :)

Cathy (who will be hunting morels in the Texas Hill Country when the redbuds bloom and the white bass run...)

  • how do you know when its time to pick them?

  • In the US they begin fruiting in the southern states in early spring, generally in March, and a slow progression into late spring carries the fruiting to more northern latitudes.

If you are asking when it's time to pick an individual mushroom, I usually give them a week or two to put on weight before harvesting.

I moderate at a site called morelhunters . com, one of the site features is a spring progression map. Check it out =)

  • You have an awesome patch!!!

  • Hey George, great video! You are pretty lucky to have them right in your back yard! I did find some last year in a neighbors lilac bush but they were past their prime. We haven't had any mushrooms pop up here yet in southern Manitoba. We were in the woods today but it has been very cold here so it will be a few weeks yet. We just sauteed our last bag of frozen chanterelles last week, They were still so yummy! Hope to see more video's!!!

  • i know the dude who made this video, in real life
