I'd say Melo comes second only to LeBron when it comes to scoring (among SFs), but ranks 4th overall (behind Pierce and Butler) when it comes to overall game, mainly because of his lack of defensive liability , 3pt shooting, and passing skills...

I think J. Smith, J. Howard, Marion, Artest, G. Wallace and R. Jefferson would complete my top10 SFs list... With Hedo being a sleeper at 11th :-)

Plus a bunch of great role-players: Barbosa, Hill, Bell, Diaw, K. Thomas...

They weren't bad defenders, their uptempo style meant more possessions, and more points for the opponent.

Marion is no doubtly a better defender and rebounder than Butler, but he won't ever score in bunches again like he did in D'Antoni's uptempo style cuz' he can't create his own shot and isn't a big outside force either.

He mostly scores on fast breaks, kickouts, or caviar-like assists but Caron can score in every kind of situatiuon: fast-breaks, mid-court, inside, outside.

Plus he's not sellfish either.

Marion is no go-to-guy where Caron obviously is.

It may surprise you, but putting up more points for your team doesn't make you a better scorer...

Don't get too hyped by stats, they're influenced by the number of shots you take (and so by the level of your teammates), by the pace your coach makes your team play (uptempo = more possessions = more points)...

Melo is a really great post/mid-range shooter, and he's good at finishing slashes in the paint, but that's about it...
