Just a question, do you need a high D key to hit the notes?? I'm struggling to get a Eb in the top of the Treble staff, I just want to know, cos on my old bassoon the high D key made such a huge difference, I'm looking for someone who doesn't have one to help me work out some fingerings that work!
I have an excellent fingering for high Eb for you! left hand, fingers 2, 3 and c# thumb key, right hand, finger 2 and thumb F# key, it works on all of the horns I have tried.

i know there are a handful of french pieces that have high Fs, i dont know much else higher than that. so the Soprano C you played at the end is just a novelty i suppose haha
I can get high G and F# with no problem. Its just getting above the G that makes me curious-what direction in fingering makes it happen? Besides the bocal? Ridiculous. Thanks for the info.
I tried a response and I don´t think it worked.First I use an Allgood bocal (Edmund Nielsen in NYC has them)The the IDRS bassoon fingering page is a great reference they don´t have the B fingering though, a few of mine are different too, so I can post them when I have more time. I changed them a little after the video too because of intonation. Like adding the pie and low f key to high F# really helps keep the pitch down.
Anyway, great vids Paul, excellent playing,Saludos,
WELL! what are the fingerings for that of course! That's ridiculous sir! Thanks for posting it. If you have some fingerings (not that they will work for everyone)-let us know.
Here it goes I´ll have to do this in several messages to make it easier to read. I can usually get to a high G# with my normal set up, after that I use the Allgood. Every bocal and instrument , person, is different, so you can start with these and find the fingering that gets the harmonic best for you. The secret to high F# and above is to open the left thumb keys only about a milimeter or so, just enough to pop the partial, too open you lose it.
Wooow!!awesome!!
