  • This is part of a larger lecture. A little out of context and certainly can appear to criticize religion. Not quite accurate. Listen or search for Jesus and His Religion.

  • i havent heard this guy criticise Budhism or chinese philosophies, thats coz he follows it.... he nit-picks on other religions... his arguements are bias and ill-founded

  • @imaIslandboi Budhism isnt a religion, in this video he is 'nit-picking' at 'religions'

  • @kylecomeaux321 oh really? Then explain why u have monks, explain why they light scented sticks and candles and pile up oranges… aren’t those rituals?? When you practice a ritual, you practice a belief system…. I don’t know about you but Buddhism DOES NOT seem like anything other than a religion to me….

  • @imaIslandboi Buddhism isn't a religion....Monks are not priests; monks just practice and continue Buddhist teachings..... Buddha is not seen as a god by the Buddhists but some Buddhists idolize Buddha... And ritual does not automatically mean religion. Religion is defined as "The belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, esp. a personal God or gods." Buddhist rituals are not done for that purpose but are practised to bring harmony and peace within oneself...

  • @imaIslandboi I've heard it argued as a philosophy. I do not believe Jesus favored 'religion'..what is there to religion when it is a belief. I do not "Belief"..it just Is...God said (in the whole testimant) I Am that I Am. No verbs. The Buddhist I think is seeking the perfect nirvana of the now...the Buddhist seeks truth, and the way..Jesus said, "I am..the way, the light, and The Way". I Am = the light, truth, and way. God.

  • @sponsler meant 'old testament'

  • @imaIslandboi Actually, Watts has been known to criticize religion on the whole, without any sort of contempt or condescension. He typically views religion as something that wastes time trying to name the unnameable. He didn't observe the religious traditions of the East, but did engage in the forms of meditation that he learned, and often said that they were likely closer to the truth than the more Abrahamic religions.

Nobody can speak without bias but his musings are certainly not ill-founded

  • Absolutely brilliant!

  • Has anyone posted 'Alan watts on jews' yet? Its short...hes just like 'No, Jews are bad, they aren't part of the one'

Joking, I love Jews, don't hate Sarah Silverman either

  • This man is either right....or he is just being politically correct.

  • In short the peace sign is another masonic/satanic ritualistic symbol we think is for peace, but it is not.

  • The peace sign is the broken cross, Nero Cross, or called the Witches foot. It doesn't mean peace it's more of a sign of self- righteous hypocrisy, that your mind believes in to support his or her ego to feel better about your existence within mankind.

  • "But basically the sermon is 'Be good' "

True. True. I've been going to this church lately and all I hear is that. I just can't like something that preaches.

  • Rouwah in Hebrew is "the breath that God breathed into Adam". In Arabic, "rouh (روح)" means spirit. They're similarly said... "rouh" "rouwah"

  • Alan got power even beyond the Watts !

  • I had forgotten why I like Alan Watts so much. Amazingly good.

  • He is so right. We don't need the Bible, the Spirit is with us!! So true, so true.

  • It is quite amazing what you come to when you learn to read hebrew and greek and read the original words for yourself, and have seen all that is left out. As well as add in the Aprocryphal texts, and if you are so inclined to follow Jesus in his footsteps throw in the story of reiki which places him where the bible does not. As well since ancient arabic is very similar to ancient hebrew may as well read what they say about him in the Quaran too. Suddenly, welcome to magical jesus!

  • @Caldwell8866 yes! Diggin' it.

  • @Caldwell8866 The silliest thing is that many people, mostly Christians, refuse the Quran, and feel a sense of pride and superiority over the Islamic religion. But the thing is, the Quran actually respects Jesus and Mary very much. It just doesn't call Jesus THE son of God, but rather a prophet that speaks truth.

  • Must memorize this speech for the next gaggle of proselytizers that ring my doorbell . . .

  • i can curl a 15 pound weight BOOYAH

  • :-)

I am of the same opinion.

    peace

  • @sunyatajack intuitively I have also came to the same. conclusion. Mans corruption of religion has only brought me closer to God (all)

  • @libertylives2 It seems to me that religion is a corruption of sunyata, which I consider to be a synonym (among others) for 'God'.

  • @sunyatajack I myself do not like to limit creation to be confined to words, though I an not suggesting that you are with 'sunyata', I am just making that clear with my intentions. However I am interested, what is this sunyata.

    peace peace

  • @libertylives2 Agreed about words. As the saying goes, "No tongue has soiled it." RE: Sunyata That is Sanskrit for 'Emptiness'. It is at the essence of Buddhism.

  • @sunyatajack God itself is a corruption. There is no power outside of man and woman. This is all the making of our own product and if it is not our product we have accepted it as such. Like Alan Watts says we are playing a game. He too is playing a game as he often calls himself a spiritual entertainer. Don;t take any of this stuff seriously.

  • After listening to a lot of these entries, I have reached the conclusion that this guy rocks.
