Actually the crew of Apollo 14 got lost in the highlands as they could not see great distances all the time due to the rolling terrain. They could not find their primary objective which was Cone Crater. Their time ran out and they had to head back to the LM before locating the objective.

The Lunar rover was attached just beneath the new LEM, redesigned for the Rover. The wheels, disc etc was folded in, to make it fit. So after landing, the astronauts did just a cupple of simple grips then the rest more or less unfolded automaticly. The three Rovers are still.. on the Moon.
stillablaze.... the largest piece of equipment was the descent stage of the lunar module. It is no more than 5 meters wide. The JAXA camera only has a 10 meter resolution. Of course they couldn't see the equipment, but the LRO will be orbiting the moon next year and has a camera resolution of 18 inches. I'm looking forward to those photos.
Ravenflight104 I had been informed of the size of the LM decent stage and the LRV a few weeks ago by Apolloist (they even did the math as to why Hubble and Keck Telescopes does not have the resolution to see the equipment). I had been also informed of NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) in feb\mar 08.

That calculated number is still higher as the measured value during the missions.

wow, it's so cool to see them do experiments and nuts+bolts things on the moon. there are some nice thought-provoking, never-before-seen photos of this more mundane kind of thing at the american museum of natural history right now. back during the cold war people would have wanted to see hype, but this seems very human over the passage of time.

The Lunar rover was attached just beneath the new LEM, redesigned for the Rover. The wheels, disc etc was folded in, to make it fit. So after landing, the astronauts did just a cupple of simple grips then the rest more or less unfolded automaticly. The three Rovers are still.. on the Moon.

It would take images\photo's of the 3 LRV's still left on the moon and the 6 LM decent stages also left on the moon.
The Japanese Aerospace did orbit the moon in Nov 07 and Jan 08 and took 3D imgages of the Apollo landing site but no equipment.
As their 3D system had 10m resolution.

stillablaze.... the largest piece of equipment was the descent stage of the lunar module. It is no more than 5 meters wide. The JAXA camera only has a 10 meter resolution. Of course they couldn't see the equipment, but the LRO will be orbiting the moon next year and has a camera resolution of 18 inches. I'm looking forward to those photos.

Ravenflight104 I had been informed of the size of the LM decent stage and the LRV a few weeks ago by Apolloist (they even did the math as to why Hubble and Keck Telescopes does not have the resolution to see the equipment). I had been also informed of NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) in feb\mar 08.
I to shall look forward to seeing the images\photo's. But thanks for the update :-)

I was 7 years old when they landed and watched it on TV. If I said "I still don't believe afer watching the series. " What would you have said then ? jeese ! Just can't please some ppl eh.
I also researched a lot of information from the internet, early Apollo research missions, Clavius, Wikipedia Apollo missions, Van Allen Radiation belt, Radiation effect on Humans, ISS Wikipedia, Moon Wikipedia, SAA radiation levels etc.

Hell i've been looking for the deployment of the LRV for some time now. Could never figure out how they folded\strapped it to the Apollo 15 LM now I know. All I could find is cartoon pictures ! Still ain't convinced we went to the moon though but i'm getting there.

I have just watched the whole series "Moon Machines" on Sky Discovery channel in the last 2 weeks. Having watched this series I am now convinced we DID go to the moon. This series has given me a lot more information in the 2 last weeks than the last 40 years since man landed on the moon lol. The series does go into a lot more detail regarding design and development of the Apollo LM, CM module, Saturn V rocket, LRV, Space Suits, Apollo 1 to 10 missions and numerous interviews.

I think SpreadingtheMuse is a shill. He claims to be an expert in Physics, yet chooses to ignore the fact that the Van Allen radiation belt prevents our current crummy spacecraft from delivering a human to the moon alive.
An astronaut shielded by 3 mm of aluminium in an elliptic orbit passing through the radiation belt will receive about 2,500 rem (25 Sv) per year. (2-5 Sv causes epilation or hair loss, hemorrhage and will cause death in many cases.)

If you were you would know that metal is the worst type of shielding against the type of radiation found in the van allen belts. (note the s)
Polyethylene is the preferred shielding against high energy charged particles.
You might also know that the VABs also only stretch about 20 degrees above and bellow the magnetic equator and are therefore easily avoidable.

Please also say that the NASA report with the 2500 rem value also uses a 200x20,000 miles orbit as reference. Such a satellite does about 1513 orbits in one year, spending approximately 30 minutes of each orbit in the belt (of about 6 hours time for each orbit)
Each Apollo passed the altitude of the belts in 25 minutes during a mission. That means, being hoax-friendly: 25 Sv/1513 = 0.0165249 Sv.
That calculated number is still higher as the measured value during the missions.

Also, does somebody know how much 28 hours of life transmissions from the moon weight if transported to the surface of the moon in the form of 1969 video tapes? ;-)
(I know there are more hours of transmissions, but German TV was transmitting live for 28 hours when Apollo 11 landed, with millions of Germans seeing it.)

Yes, indeed. And they used radio signals which indeed came from the moon. Or sometimes from lunar orbit, with strong differences in the Doppler shift of the signal.
The radio observatory of Bochum still has the recordings of the signals on magnetic tape, including antenna pointing.
So, by observation, something must have been emitting such signals from lunar orbit or lunar surface - can this be done unmanned?

Yeah dude - no tapes. They transmitted the live vid, and had some 16mm film cameras too. So there's lots of video, and a much smaller amount of good-quality 16mm film.

Of course -- it's called a radio. I mean, this TV signal was broadcast directly from the Moon, that's way harder.
And the time delay is only 1.5 seconds.
