I was at the East croydon and a 12 coach train came in for Brighton. There were three platorm one at every fouth door , they all were holding there sticks up at each other and then the end one was holding up a troch, what does this mean ???

@departtment its probably means that the train is departing

@departtment They are indicating to either the gaurd or driver (Doo opperation) that it is safe to close the doors.

This is normaly via a White bat (Daytime) or a White light (Nighttime, Possibly Datime as well).

How busy the platform is usually dictates how many Platform Staff will stand along the leangth of the train. The Driver or Gaurd will only obey the one standing closest to him.
