What happened to QEII? Was she abandoned? Was she torpedoed? (probable) Was she hit by another boat causing her to sink? Did she crash at the docks? Was she retired? Was there a terrorist attack? Was she crashed?

The new Queen Elizabeth will be a sister to the new Queen Victoria. The new ship will be a modified Carvival Spirit/Vista Class ship so nothing new or special. Like the QV, the new QE will not have the power reserves of either Queen Mary 2 or QE2.
Personally I'm intrigued about the recent take up on the name "Queen Elizabeth". We have the now retirering QE2, the future Queen elizabeth and of course the Royal Navy's new "Queen Elizabeth class" Aircraft carriers.

Its also not like the QE2 was last great ocean liner, the Queen Mary 2 which replaced her is an even greater ship although it cost alot more to build.
The RMS Queen Mary 2 was built as a replacement vessel to continue transatlantic crossings - the QE2 was massively refitted and palced on the cruise circuit sailing to and from Southampton. The Queen Victoria is the ship that has been built to take over the mantle of the QE2 when it leaves the Cunard fleet this November. I, as I'm sure many are, are waiting with anticipation to see what the new 'Queen Elizabeth' (Due 2010) will look like
@TheBritishWatcher You are speaking like me. Its THE trouble, when this wonderfull ships will be scrapped.
Now the QM2 is the greatest oceanliner today. I mean, there will not be come bigger and faster liner. The time therefor is gone. Now airoplans are faster and dosnt cost so mutch. Ships now are only usfull for cruising.
The dream of this wonderfull liners is gone and will never come!
