  • I need this for a theater production where we are not allowed to have open flame. where do I find the components and how do I make it?

  • how could u call it a match stick when it doesn't actually create a fire...

  • Hi, where's the circuit diagram, I would like this flickering effect for L.E.D. Fireplace i want to make.

seems you didn't much time to post your instructable yet ???

  • thats cool

  • thats awesome

  • why do all that when i have a lighter XD

  • Hmmm pretty cool but impractical.

  • eneloop batteries are great

  • i think this is cool fuck u u trash talkers

  • I've got one ot these we call them a torch ...ya fuckheads

  • its cool but useless

kinda like a swiss army knife with 100 blades

  • Seriously? WTF?

  • nice prop i guess...usless for anything else i suppose

  • Wheres the fire?

    idiots.

  • SO...how would i light my cigar?

  • Wow! What a bunch of b*tches on here talking trash!

  • cool man. Welcome to the internet, where everyone is immature and will trash you no matter what you have on the internet.

  • AWESOME.

You invented something that is completely pointless.

You do know that the point of matches is fire, right?

  • this is excellent for stage productions. you know where you cant have fire due to regulations but need to show a match lighting...

    tool.

  • Is an LED the closest they can come to fire?

Plus the match stick is fucking huge.

Think that's a bit of a give away?

  • yeah....so?....ok. :)

  • still waiting for the point..

  • Cure cancer, then LED matchsticks. That's my priority.

  • Awesome work

  • OBALAY!

  • Make an LED cigarette hell yeah

  • You made this because?

  • yeah rite....?

  • Cool :)

  • For those of you who are dissing this idea, hold on a minute.

dj, you did a great job and I would love to see the plans for, or an instructable for, this matchstick. It would be a PERFECT stage prop, where, anymore, real cigarettes and matches are no longer allowed. In fact, a great follow up to this would be a LED cigarette, that turns on when the match touches its end, and glows brighter when you suck on the filter end.

  • Agreed!

  • whats the purpose of this matchstick led??

matchstick are used to flame a candle, paper, stove..

but this matchstick led.. can this gadget do the same as real matchstick..?

if not then use flashlight its more usefull

  • so shit -_-....

  • And the point of this is...

  • That is exactly what I was going to type...

  • Me too... ...until someone mentioned that the use would be for a stage prop. Especially when there are fire codes in many theaters.

  • you can still use a normal LED light

  • neat :0, btw yeah supercaps are pretty cheap these days, arround like $3 in digikey for a powerfull goldplated one

  • you should add a sensor to blow it out, that would make that thing even nicer! Great job!

  • A supercapacitor! I've never used one. Are these widely available now?

  • Yeah sure it is windproof... what we could do easily is to add a sensor to blowout the matchstick

  • Is it wind-proof too? It might be good for survival situations! ;->

Perhaps you should include a nichrome wire that heats up and burns the user's fingers after a couple of seconds - that would make it even more realistic! ;->

    But seriously - pretty neat!

  • @WOLF2143WK I so LOLd when you said you should include a nichrome wire that heats up and burns the user's fingers after a couple of seconds!
