He believed her, but he did it FOR HER! Remember he once told her he'd even commit suicide for the right person, the person he loved? That's what he did, he knew that if he said it back, she would have stayed down there with him & died,he wanted her to live,he wanted to give her everything,he wanted to give her a life!
