That is a very good idea, plus since BF3 likes making things realistic, people should be able to kill civilians (even tho' they shouldnt. ) Penalty = Try to Avoid.

the civilian option does add another element in the game where you should have the option to shoot but still have a penalty like if you shoot more then 2 or 3 you get kicked, u loose health when a civilian is shot by you or as stated below.. some civilian will pull out weapons and shoot you and also turns other nearby armed civilians against that player. Those real world choices would add another layer of tatics and realism to the game while still making it a trade off of fun and consequence!

Then fire at your fellow colleges, you will receive a message saying "FRIENDLY FIRE WILL NOT BE TOLERATED". Problem solved.

Since you asked for our opinion, i think it's more realistic to not restart the checkpoint every time one is killed since that isn't what happens. However, the fact that even if we shoot 100 bullets into them and they do not die, is in a way non-realistic. I believe the alternative option for this situation would be for them be hiding and then run off at the sign of a bomb, this way it is difficult to kill them and by the time you check on them again they'll be gone

There should be a system where if you shoot one civ, you get a warning, then you fail the mission, because cubs have this tendency to run in front of me, in Black Ops, I usually have this happen two to three times from some retarded civ literally running into my bullets whilst I stand still, looking down sights to shoot a stationary target. They run in, get nailed by a straw bullet, then I get angry, as he caused his death, not me.

I have a hard time killing civvies in any game. There's something in my brain thats telling me yeah it's a game but like still. Take fallout for example both for 3 and new Vegas I have good karma because I have a hard time doing bad things even in games.
When I played that mission in COD, I had no idea what was happening, but I totally started shooting people all the same. It's true I did it, it was totally a level to shoot civilians. Kind of a shock tactic I think. It's not like it will make you a psychopath or anything. With any game with choice like that, you will eventually get bored and try it. Gamers like to experience all the game has to offer after all..

Been playing GTA since PS1, never harmed a civilian intentionally. Occasionally I will splatter a grandma with a convertible but thats by accident.

I do not like the idea of penalties for killing / damaging civilians. Games being challenging is important, but not above games being fun. If you're going to make a game, you should make it so every level has replay value. If you penalize players for doing what they want, you're not going to get that value... You're going to get butt hurt players who don't want to play the level again.

i agree with the penalty thing and the crosshairs should turn green or what ever and not allow you to fire like with friendlies, but if you do wind up in a fire fight with civilians running around and they run through your line of fire it should give you a warning instead of a full penalty , but i undderstand that it would be difficult to make the game weed out all the ones that were accidental casualties instead of purposely murdering civilians (probably a court marshal offense in real life)

There should be a system where if you shoot one civ, you get a warning, then you fail the mission, because cubs have this tendency to run in front of me, in Black Ops, I usually have this happen two to three times from some retarded civ literally running into my bullets whilst I stand still, looking down sights to shoot a stationary target. They run in, get nailed by a straw bullet, then I get angry, as he caused his death, not me.

I also think that its not as realistic, but I do not think that you should have the option of killing civilians. After events like the Norway shootings and kids going into schools and murdering people on rampages. I would rather people not have the option to kill civilians. I just don't think its necessary.
PS. if your with your friends playing the game and you have the option to mow people down like you wouldn't. hahaha TERRIBLE BUT TRUE!!!

I have a hard time killing civvies in any game. There's something in my brain thats telling me yeah it's a game but like still. Take fallout for example both for 3 and new Vegas I have good karma because I have a hard time doing bad things even in games.

When I played that mission in COD, I had no idea what was happening, but I totally started shooting people all the same. It's true I did it, it was totally a level to shoot civilians. Kind of a shock tactic I think. It's not like it will make you a psychopath or anything. With any game with choice like that, you will eventually get bored and try it. Gamers like to experience all the game has to offer after all..

BOOO!!!!! It's not the gamer's fault if the civilians should happen to get in the way of the line of fire. You don't see civilians become "invincible" in the wars out in the middle east now do ya? Of course not, Then again did the producer of GTA IV and other GTA games of the series take this into account when they were developed over the years? There should be a cheat code disabling the invincability of the civilians, which will make the game fun if you are having a bad day in real life.

Been playing GTA since PS1, never harmed a civilian intentionally. Occasionally I will splatter a grandma with a convertible but thats by accident.
America and its enemies have been responsible for the death of thousands of women and children in iraq. Innocent people sometimes die in war and if a game wants to immerse a player it should show this.

When a country kill civilians during a war I don't think they cancel the war... they just say "ooops!" and continue with the mission/war, thats realistic!!!

Would be awesome if civilians are added in multiplayer maps and if you accidentily shoot one you get minus points/xp.
I guess in singleplayer it should be like when you've killed 2 civilians in a row the mission should fail.
My own thoughts on this? Just allow people to shoot civilians like as if they are enemies. It's a game. I mean like, come on. come onnnn ;/

I think thats bullshit. this is why its just a fucking videogame, and fuck no screw the penalties. if the player wants to shoot the cicilians but cant because of mission failed or minus points, then dont bother with the feature. in mw2 civis jump in front of my fucking bullets and cause me to fail, and we all know the civis AI gets fucked in at least one situation so they should either put it in or leave it out, but seriously who doesnt like killing random ppl like in crackdown or just cause 2?

I do not like the idea of penalties for killing / damaging civilians. Games being challenging is important, but not above games being fun. If you're going to make a game, you should make it so every level has replay value. If you penalize players for doing what they want, you're not going to get that value... You're going to get butt hurt players who don't want to play the level again.

i agree with the penalty thing and the crosshairs should turn green or what ever and not allow you to fire like with friendlies, but if you do wind up in a fire fight with civilians running around and they run through your line of fire it should give you a warning instead of a full penalty , but i undderstand that it would be difficult to make the game weed out all the ones that were accidental casualties instead of purposely murdering civilians (probably a court marshal offense in real life)
