Music today just isn't what it used to be. There was a soul to the music of the 90's, and this of any genre. Nowadays, it seems like all music is soulless and for the sake of making a quick buck. A shame, really.
@TheBlitz1 I fell asleep at an Incubus concert at the ACC in Toronto. Can't remember what year but I do remember paying $50 for the ticket and be completely bored out of my mind, I literally (not exaggerating) fell asleep. True Story. I hate Incubus.
Remember Pokemon cards? Haha. I also remember playing Monster rancher at 5AM because I didnt like to sleep. Waking up then waiting till 7AM on the weekends so I could watch the WB. Good memories...
I remember kids who listened to this kind of music where beaten up by everyone. So the question about what music do you listen was a common reason to start a fight.
one of the best things about the 90s to me was Nickelodeon and MTV when they played practicality everything you showed...plus beavis and butthead...period
@CollectiveShit Why can't you just like your music, without talking down to the music you don't like? I know punk music is about whining about everything, but come on...
lol i pwn at cod . There is still great hip hop if your not caught up in btching about mainstream. Pokemon seriously ? I guess im a 80's kid born in 81 and grew up with real hand drawn cartoons like voltron and transformers , mask and gi joe , top cat and atom ant ect
@arrianne negative fuse sucks now when fuse started in like i think it was 03? when it constantly played music pretty much non stop it was the new mtv but then sadly if suffered the same cruel fate that vh1 and mtv suffered
Wasn't a fan at all with MTV as a kid only watched Daria, but now i totally wished it was like it was in the 80's and early 90's, just plain music. Now i want to strangle all those stupid shows they have on now. But i do like Teen mom and true life
@quiksilver78 True but I was also talking about just the fact that I was lucky enough to have my first 4-5 years in the 90s. Because electronics weren't really popular, and I had a real childhood, with playing outside all the time (instead of on the computer, like today). But you're right about the music. But at least I can appreciate it now.
@Nicole3900 Yeah sorry, I didn't mean to single you out like that but it's just a pet peeve of mine when people get nostalgic over something they never experienced first hand. In the end though, it is never too late to appreciate good music :)
anyone remember those WWJD (what would jesus do) Bracelets haha!! SUPER SOAKERS!!!!!!!!! or the NERF Bow and Arrow hahah! ya! oh man POGS!! i had the hugest pog container! had to be like 4 feet!
@doctorpapaya Agreed. I call myself a 90's kid more because I identify with a lot of 90's music (rock especially) but I was only a small child when they started so a lot of the early 90's are sort of a blur to me. I started High School in '00.
I think it should go by when you start High School as what is when most people are first getting into music, fashion, etc. (though I still consider myself a 90's kid because music from that decade has had way more influence over me than the 00's!)
@incognito84 i was born in 96.. should be sad for me. i didnt get to live through any of the good music. or i cant remember it .. i hate the crap that comes out now
@doctorpapaya I remember jamming to RHCP, coco jambo, Stone temple pilots and Alice in Chains when I was 7. Those the first tones of music that entered my mind so fuck you and your theory, Im a 90's kid and I was born in 91'.
i agree 90z music was the shit mind yu i was about 8 or 9 but i remember my uncles listen to all the different music fukin incredible compared to all this new garbage
@brennanbrown123 yup the music died a while back. If music was a human being then by the 90's it was an old crippled dude with Alzheimer's barely hanging on. I'd have to say music fully died at the dawn of the century that's when the final bit of soul was sucked out now your listening to music's lifeless corpse
Why do I love this song so much, I was born in 1984 and did not hear it until like 1996 I start CRYING when I hear this, and yes I am male. I do have depression tho. It is weird. back in 2000 I wanted to go back in time to the mid 1990's, and now in 2010 I want to go back in time to 2000? Does any of this make sense? Also, with commercials that are from the 90's, I am the same way.
the 90s: great music, i was a kid, wwe was wwf, better shows on TV (pokemon the 1st ever episodes with 150 pokemon), the basic game boy color, n64 n playstation non off the stress of games like COD n also the world trade centers were still standing (R.I.P)
@ihighlander91 lol funny cunt ur so young n64 and playstation how about pacman and frogger on the atari! and dont forget ET i remember when u made the phone and always falling down those annoying holes!

@thewhitecowboy actually MTV before they stopped actually playing music...they were playing emo crap and other shit there was barely any rap or pop being played
@dmegret83 Yeah but you have all this great music to look back on. I was coming up in the 90's and me and my friends had fun hanging out in record store trying to find good sounds. Now its all done online and that kind of fucks up the whole deal.
@thorbert I'm just going to say this because it needs to be said. STOP WATCHING MTV!!!! It's a farce. It's become corporate like everything else and has had the soul sucked out of it.
@thewhitecowboy You are totally right ... They should stop trying to decide what we should listen. This is not freedom when I have only 2 options : MTV and TMF ... freedom implies have the real choice.
80s and 90s music even got stuck in my sister's head. she's born 1997 but she even knows songs from 1992-1998 and remembers them better than lady gaga ans that stuff...that was true music then =/
Other than the smashing pumpkins and alice n chains good list of tunes (thanks you for not having Metalicca over rated radio band) {what's a radio band, only their good ones make it on the radio, when you buy the album you say shit this sucks}
There is a show coming out bringing back some of the biggest artists and songs of the 90's and early 2000's and it will put them to compete for a career revival. Big Names attached like Samantha Mumba, Hanson, Willa Ford, And Tamia. Its coming out on MTV next year i think. Paula Abdul might be a judge. Its on facebook and you look for Celebrity Comeback, there is a youtube video to, but i think that was made by some excited fan.
The funny part is people claim that 2day's music suck when in fact alot of bands from the 90's stil continue 2day so they are part of 2day's music. Stil doesnt make 2days music better than 90's. & the good bands I was talkin bout were metal
When I was a kid, in the 90's, I always wanted to travel to the future to see what I would look like. Now that we are in the future, I not so positive about it anymore. I actually want to go BACK now.
if we educate the kids of today about yesterday maby just maby the ninetys will be born again. maby not in the same way but possible in a similar spirit.
I'm A ban sperrl.. you're so smart. maby you should teach..in fact, I think u might just be the first person to ever correct my spelling.I bet your a regular einstein.. wow, thanks for correcting me, lets be freinds.
@Jayman135861 You're a horrible time and should never be talked of. Why don't you quit being so brainwashed and realize you're stupid teenage years weren't immune to being made fun of.
I think one of the reasons the mainstream music today sucks is that little girls/tweens now have a more buying power from their parents unlike the 90's hence the Mileys, Biebers and Taylor Swifts dominating the charts.
itz like a newly launched laptop that doesn't event compare to itz predecessors...
sad how the music scene has moved backwards nowadays.. everything is so commercialized now, no more freedom express good music.. 90s music was really good.. every song was unique back then, now everything sounds similar(copied from the previous best selling album).. Hope the music makers of this decade can really wake u and DO SOMETHING... juz my $0.02..
wow i think every decade leaves an impression with music, but the 2000's have nothing to show, maybe there was some good bands early but they didnt leave too much impression now, they left it in the 90's, what 2000's have to show is
jonas brothers, miley cyrus, lady gaga, and lots more
not saying all are bad though like
Salvia, Blink 182, sum 41, but they were also there in the 90's so they have that impression + im 14 so i think its sad on what i have to grow up with.
@TheToasterTV I must agree. Like I listened to 90 musics on my own, since I was a 90's kid, and everything from the 80's my parents played. But now just ugh.. Not all of it, just the stuff on the radio and mainstream, and it's just.. not so much the music itself is bad, but there's not beat . It's just it either has no meaing in the lryics, or the artist don't sing with passion. And alot of it sounds the same. Some of it's good though. But I miss it this music. Radio needs to play more of it.
all the songs were awesome besides nirvana and fiona apple, im a 90's baby, born 1990 and im now 20 so this is my music but for some reason nirvana disgusts me
Man do I miss the 90's.

Hope the music makers of this decade can really wake u and DO SOMETHING... juz my $0.02..
baileysxs 1 year ago
wow i think every decade leaves an impression with music, but the 2000's have nothing to show, maybe there was some good bands early but they didnt leave too much impression now, they left it in the 90's, what 2000's have to show is
jonas brothers, miley cyrus, lady gaga, and lots more
not saying all are bad though like
Salvia, Blink 182, sum 41, but they were also there in the 90's so they have that impression + im 14 so i think its sad on what i have to grow up with.
TheToasterTV 1 year ago
@TheToasterTV I must agree. Like I listened to 90 musics on my own, since I was a 90's kid, and everything from the 80's my parents played. But now just ugh.. Not all of it, just the stuff on the radio and mainstream, and it's just.. not so much the music itself is bad, but there's not beat . It's just it either has no meaing in the lryics, or the artist don't sing with passion. And alot of it sounds the same. Some of it's good though. But I miss it this music. Radio needs to play more of it.
