caught the EF-3 tornado near Elkhart, IL this day. was near springfield and decided to go north to what ended up being a 24 mile long track tornado. damage was insane to a house in the area.
I was north of there, near peoria. I thought about heading south but would have had to cut through the core, not my favorite thing to do. That's what I did in the 97 video and have avoided it since if at all possible
Again, I had to RE-see this awesome video, ''Momotous''...I really love the way you've bolted your camcorder right on your chase-vehicle's rear-view mirror...in such a way the lovely ''rides'' were so nice and smooth.... BTW..get this: 8/19/09...the day of this severe weather outbreak..marked 10 years to the day, 8/19/99---I got this awesome nighttimed lightning/loud thunder copied- video from Odessa/Midland TX from another ''Tstorm video bud''....awesome videos from there/then too!
Aaahhh..I was able to locate this real such treasure-trove of such a magnificent video you made here, my good YouTube Tstorm-video bud.... excellent in all parts...love your subtitles....the NOAAweather-radio..and the ''car-rides'' thru the picturesqued countryside..... and of course...the possible rain-wrapped tornado at the end. So good to see such mouthwatering videos just like this one~~!!!
I was chasing this day. Started near Rushville then dropped southeast towards Springfield for the tornado going that way. Due to driving in on the rainy side, we nearly drove into the EF-2 tornado that went on the east side of Lake Springfield. Caught it on video briefly. A lot of tree damage where the tornado went with some siding and roof damage to homes also. Not a bad day for a slight risk. Feel sorry for the people who ended up losing their home around Williamsville
If I had kept going southeast, the same would have happened to me, so I turned around, but happened to catch this one heading back north. Springfield had been my target but the storms hit the 39 corridor before I could get that far.
I have my video up now so you can see what we were running into. It definably got a bit sticky there for a while with my friend being inexperienced on navigation. That's been fixed though :-)
do you live around here? you go out to the plains and chase?

You must be closer to Springfield then. The storms were much worse south of where I was between Peoria and Lasalle.
