  • Do people not realize that you can have a k20a2 out of an rsx in an eg for 3000ish including buying the shell? You don't have to go online and buy a type r for 5k.

    Sure, those numbers are great but how long will it last if you don't tune it?

    K20 takes a little more effort to install and can be a bit spendy but it has power, torque, and reliability.

  • k's and h's are good engines.. but in a eg civic.. e prefer an NA b18 motor.. and if it doesn't make me happy.. i just buy a good induction kit.. and at the final stage i can take 250 to 300 hp's stock internals.. from 3/4 the price of a k's engine. if i had a Prelude or a acord K20 its my choice.. but i have a poor ek civic. i ll save money and buy a b18.. work it and bring from him 200 hp.. and let him stay in NA.. ;) by the way good k20a

  • To me, a k20 swap with a turbo is completely pointless. It's much easier/cheaper to swap in a B-series and turbocharge that. There's plenty of turbo B series out there making over 600whp (which is too much for the street anyway). Why waste the time, money, and headaches on doing a k swap if you're gonna go turbo? IMO a k swap only makes sense if you're staying all motor. But to each his own I guess...some people like to burn money...

  • Either way you can build a reliable B series and put down more Whp for your money than a K.....K series are for REALLY deep pockets.

  • Yeah seriously...and now that hasport made a mount kit for the v6 swap, it makes K series even more pointless. Honda Tuning mag just did an article on the details of a v6 (accord, tl, odyssey, etc.) swap in a civic eg. It put down 270whp and 250wtq COMPLETELY STOCK! And they did it for under $3,000. Now that's BANG FOR YOUR MONEY! There ain't no K series that can hang with a v6 eg. It shocked me to see how cheap a v6 honda swap was. It truly makes no sense to go K now...

  • I have a 93 prelude (H22a) with forged pistons, AEM set (headers, intake,chip) with apexi catback exhaust, greddy stage 2 turbo, 120mm wastegate...and i luv it, i will say the k20's are quick motors. :) nice vid

  • the k's have a tough bottom end as well, but if u want tourqe why not go with an h22a? it takes some work to get in there, but will only run u $4,000

  • because h22's are known to have transmission problems. and they will break down twice if not three times as fast as a k20. i have actually never heard of k20's breaking down.

  • k-series ftw! B-series are great cause their cheap but a stock k20 can handle insane amonts of boost ~30psi. k series is definately the way to go when the prices drop. However I do love b-series and I currently am rockin a d-series hatch soon to be swapped for a b cause I dont have money.

  • Hold on. i can get a b16a for $1350, complete w/ trans and everything needed to run (even an A/C compressor), build the shit out of it (pistons, rods, balanced/polished crank, cams, ported head, springs, valves, etc.) Be pumping over 300hp all motor (and have one hell of a powerband to boot), and still be under the $6500 price tag for the k20.

  • is it reliable though? comon 1.6 liters compared to a 2.0.. stock power of the k20a would probably be the same as your built b16a... also the upgrades would be easier on the k because it responds great to bolt ons...

  • Not necessarily, i could probably get a good 280hp to the wheels out of a 12/13:1 compression B16A. Or could build a 9/9.5:1 engine w/ turbo and have as much power as desired.

  • Maybe not in an all motor format, but w/ a turbo and forged internals 280+hp could be had in a daily driver. You may not be at 280 everyday (perhaps have a low boost tune of 5-7psi and get 30mpg) but w/ the push of a button it's there. If you can get a K20 for $3800 ready to go, get it by all means, it's an amazing machine. But judging the prices i have seen, the b16 is a much cheaper alternative.
