The Weberian bureaucracy, a hallmark of the West, will eventually triumph throughout the world because it is the most economically efficient way to organize a naturally inefficient (but necessary) entity. Whether the ideals of universal equality and individual freedom will prevail, it is difficult to say; more economically efficient, yes, but undesirable to powerful ruling elites such as the one found in China.

Militaristic, eugenics practising, dictatorial Spartans conquered democratic Athens.

Dictatorial Macedonians under Alexander the Great conquered the Greeks, forced them into a coalition to destroy the worlds first superpower Persia another dictatorial society.

A stupid people in a poorly led democracy can easily fall to a well educated, technologically advanced society led by a smart all powerful leader.

Do you think western civilization is destined to last forever? Of course we can lose our civilization. The Dark Ages happened. We are better to us. But that is only because we were raised in our own culture. Does that make sense? Attitude is situated. I cannot but help prefer my own culture as a home.

It will change inevitably, that doesn't mean  you will lose it. I think you can help it, but you just won't. You can't convert to other cultures but you can learn from other cultures and admire some aspects of them. BTW I'm an anthropologist.

Remember you cannot compare the West to unattained ideals (people who usually do use, ironically, western ideals). Judging nations, comparing nations, means doing so against existing records.
