  • You love finishing on that old diminished Vic - great!

  • @jmsbk12345 Much better than pentatonic :-)))) Vic.

  • @Jazzguts Oh yes definitely. I also combine Sonny's tune 'Solid' with this piece, they go well together.

  • Been working on this with my teacher - a brilliant riff. Love what you do with it! Also love Zen Guitar - a book to live life by, thanks for posting this.

  • @faustus67 Good, many people only talk bout technique and Stuff but keeping the Soul in balance is maybe the most important, greets Vic.

  • Morning Vic, my heroe ;-) Many thanks for your reactiveness and for your elaborate response. I think I'll go and install "Band in a Box". It looks quite convincing, to say the least! Well, for me now, it's time to work my scales and the lot... Cheers and all the very best. Christophe

  • @MTCBrussels Lot's of success Amigo and remember when times get rough just take a break and keep focus,in Jazz the Spirit counts, read "Zen Guitar" from Phillip Toshio Sudo it will strengthen your Spirit. Greets Vic.

  • @Jazzguts

Thanks a lot Vic for your advice, esp. for the reading of "Zen Guitar". I take good note of the reference.

In the meantime, my objective will be to post (e.g. this summer) my own improvisation on Tenor Madness. Too be followed. Your comments will be most valuable, of course.

    Kind regards,

    Christophe (targuiplayer@yahoo.com)

  • Hello Vic, I'm discovering your video and I must say I am impressed. A lot of finesse and sensitivity in your impro!

    Could you please tell me:

    1) what scales you use while improvising?

    2) what accompanying system/software is yours?

    Many thanks in advance.

    Christophe

  • @MTCBrussels Well brother you're asking a lot here, pass me your address then I'll send the bill, ha ha just kidding. I'm using Band in a box as accompaniment software (good investment check out on Internet) scales- Bb mixo Eb mixo sometimes B melodic (altered over Bb7 when moving back to Eb7) when dim appears E dim (whole-half) and on turn around Bb mixo- Ab melodic over G7 (alt) Cm dorian and Gb melodic over F7 (alt), success, Jazz is hard work be prepared, greets Vic.

  • Great playing ..Vic.. Very cool ideas !!

  • @SIRONEDRAGON Thanks Ken,you're one of the few that check out my older Stuff a good thing you don't fall in the trap of just Rabbit chasing new Video's while there's so much valuable Info here on the Tube already, greets Vic.

  • 5 stars

  • Could you tell me what did you use to record video and audio at the same time??

    It sounds great...

I just bought a Zoom Q-3 video recorder, but the audio part doesn't sound good enough.

  • Thanks Boulez,Imovie program on the Mac Os-x with built in camara , guitar and backingtracks mixed on a folio notepad mixer and stereo signal sent direct t the PC audio-port,greets Vic.

  • Wish I could play like that that, man. Great!

  • Thanks Daniel,I go with Larry Carlton: Hard work gets the job done, greetings Vic.

  • try the chords, It's fun really. Swing beat, don't forget that.

    Bb7, Eb7, Bb7, Bb7, Eb7, Eb7, Bb7 Bb7, C-, F7, Bb7, F7. Repeat.

don't forget that chords swing beat, best played with the piano.

  • That's killer man. Great tone. And a really smooth flow.

  • Thanks Suicide, for your visit and ears, all the best,Vic.

  • Man! So nice! You are doing it... I beg for a little "something wrong", but that's just me. Really sweet playing.

  • Thanks James, I used to have a teacher called "Eef Albers" (incredible player in jazz-fusion) he was a perfectionist and I guess that brushed off on me, there's no half-heartedness in Jazz,it's all or nothing,Greets Vic.

  • muy bueno

  • Muchas Gracias, javovo3, es un placer para tocar por todo los aficionados,Saludos Vic.

  • Great job! You obviously get it...

  • buen tema y bien resuelto felicidades

  • nice, not %100 my style, but definatly some good technique there (the beging part made me sceptical, but later I was impressed)

  • Man I'm glad everybody has his own style else guitarplaying would start to be considered a boring "book keepers" trade, take care,Victor.

  • thanks victor, nice backwartsweeps and scale choice. what is the scale in the end?

  • Hi Pat,I can't tell you becauase I'm in a library(on vacation)and they don't want any noise here,when I'm home I'll tell(everytime I improvise something else)Gr Vic.

  • I had to tell you that answer,it's a sequence in Octotonic(one of my favourite scales) Gr vic.

  • nice playing man great! what kinda guitar is that? es-335 of some sort

  • Thank You,this is a Epiphone Rivera with ghanged pickups,seymour Duncans,greets Victor.

  • Classy riffing! Hey Victor... who are your "favorite guitarists?" 5*****

  • Am I glad I've met you man,someone who's really involved(and a great guitarist).

A difficult question, well let me have a go, Wes Montgommery,Pat Martino,Grant Green,Kenny Burrel,Joe Pass, Emily Remler,Ernest Ranglin(jamaica),John Scoffield, just to name a few but I'm always listening, there are so many that I must remain humble and try to learn each day, greets Victor.

  • Super Victor!

  • Nice 1 Victor--Lovely playing getting better every time

    Paul.

  • Hi Brother, To see you jamming like this swinging thru the chords and between riffs makes my finger tingle. Tenor Madness great number, I think I will soon brush the dust of my Sax and start warming-up on my arpeggios and back into the music playing. Great sound Vic, until soon and keep-on swinging, John

  • Start brushing the spiderwebs off that Sax and polishing it with some Brasso, but the main thing remains put it in your mouth and blow till the break of dawn. The only thing is those 2 dogs of yours they'll start howling along with the notes you play. Thanks for your nice comments brother, greetings Vic.

  • Superb again, what else can I say?

  • What's the sound of one hand clapping?(Zen) The fact that you're listening is more than enough, greets Victor.

  • Thanks for reminding me to record this one soon ... well done Victor!

  • Thanks Dick,I'll be looking out for your version,I'll keep keep my ears pealed.

    greets Vic.

  • Great Picking Vic I like to watch you facial expressions you know when you enter a difficult passage and the eyebrows go up when you realize that it worked. Like the man says very dancable well adapted from the original horn arrangement.

  • Thanks Steve that you enjoyed this, really enjoyed your knowledge about the Northsea festival you do your homework man. The remark you made about "Chords" you're right. How can a person stick to powerchords his whole life, that's like saying just let me stay poor.greets Vic.

  • hey victor. really great job. love the phrasing.

  • Glad you enjoyed this, you know you can play so much ideas on a JazzBlues that it scares you sometimes, thanks for commenting.
