I fly an E-Flight F-16 Thunderbird and the "Flaperon" concept is awesome. I decided to apply the same concept to my Parkzone P-51; and they work great to. Perfect for STOL...Short Take Off & Landing. Flaps do serve a purpose. It's simple a matter on anyone programs their radio. My DX7 & F-16 is set for 75% Flaperon and 100% Flaperon with 2 degree pitch up on the elevator. I don't have true speed numbers...but the flaperon's put my F-16 in a very nice Angle of attack for landing.
Dont get me wrong I give you props for the modification. I should of got a vid of tonight's flights me and another guy were flying in 15mph winds we had them hovering with no throttle at all. Would get too full elevator just watching it really slowly descend straight down. I was about to attempt a harrier landing but I dont use the gear on mine so if I hit throttle at the end I would bust the prop or more.
I have read that flaperons and flaps on the T-28 are worthless this vid almost proves it. The poster did slow down his plane for short fields. But it took like apprx. 75 degrees of flaps!!! for something you can do by just doing a longer lower approach.
:) Flaps do improve spot landings. Flaps are not supposed to be flown around all the time but for landing. I would have to disagree. Flaps serve a purpose for certain types of planes. You don't have to install them on your plane it's a matter of an opinion I suppose.
Im buying the T-28D Trojan BNF because Its cheaper to get everything already in the box besides the radio which i have already. I just have to save enough money!!
