well played if anything it's a bit fast, I was hoping it would be a bit more British and lilting. Definitely think pirates lifting steins full o 'grog
haha, reading the comments makes my day...everyone talks about how they suck and they all have terribly atrocious spelling..musicians are supposed to be smart...anyway, i played this in high school, it was fun...we played it very well, our band was well balanced as well...
hye i play the tenor sax part...can anione tell me the fingering for low G (on below 2 leger lines) and the fingering for low A (the one on the second leger line) THANKS SO MUCH!
yea there is no fingering for a low G nor is there a way to play a low A in tune, but if you really needed to get the low A, then you could finger a low Bb and then stick your foot in the bell. I'm a tenor player too, check out my vids and comment!
a very jolly littel ditty , dum dum dee dum de dum da dum dee dum da dum dum , twiddle bum dee da drieumph bum bum twiddle dee drumph ba treumph phwump! bump bump.. conductorr seemed like a nice guy too...all i could manage on my cello was c major scale and sad song by tchaikovsky.
our top band in middle school played it and i play euphonium and i played the euphonuim solo in 8th grade im about to be a freshman in high school. we played this song for the honor band contest in texas and won 2nd place in state. but we played at 100 only not that fast...
Wow. We just played this a few months ago for our festival and I have to say, you guys blow our band our of the water. Our trumpets could barely stay together. And the clarinets at E are amazing.
So far as I remember, our judges at festival liked it okay. They probably are a little more experienced at judging ensembles than a soon-to-be seventh grader. Judging from your other comments, I hope you play your instrument better than you spell.
nvm and about ur first comment (i just now got it) i don't mean anything bad about ur band i just think trumpets are pretty cool and was sad that they couldnt stay together cuz like I said theyr cool
Hey little 'sevvy': if you don't really like the way it's played here, than leave. You don't have to watch it and you really don't have to waste your time and comment. Hater comments are immature, rude, and overall disrespectful.
Personally, I like the way that they've played it and I can spell.
You people need to calm down!!! I just meant that when trumpets can't stay togenther it's sad!! And it really is!! I love trumpets!! The instrument is beautiful and it can be damaging to a band when they don't stay together!! I never meant anyones band was bad and I've tried to put that across like five times but like you said I cant't spell. And if hater coments are so rude then why are you making them???
Man, my senior year in high school we played this in All-Region Symphonic Band. As a trumpet player, I can say that this is one of my all-time favorite concert pieces.
actually, the tempo my band took seems to be a little too fast. This is an english March and we are definitly a bit too quick to match the criteria for that tempo. Good thing the judges didn't pick up on it.
true..not enough dynamics..you're all playing loud everywhere..i'm playing this song too..and actually..it's not too fast...actually, i think this is the speed we're going at too
Ugh!!..I remember having to play this song, and believe me when I say it wasn't a piece of cake,..me and most of my classmates dreaded playing this everyday..but in the end we pulled it off for our concert! You guys played it good too!
the trumpet tone is too edgy but it might jus b the recording....and the dynamic contrast could be worked on a little better....but nonetheless this sounds pretty good!
i love sailing music

I actually liked that the low brass stood out quite a bit, but their articulation needs a bit of work.
Overall nicely done, but I didn't hear a lot of dynamics so maybe that's something to work on in the future.
Still a job well done.

I like this. And it's a fun song to play. At Admiral Benbow I pertend I'm a pirate and I hobble around. But not really, because that's strange.
Anyways, good job Band! :)

I don't know what kind of tenor you have, but my t. sax only goes to a low b flat (below the staff)

i think the band was in't all together but great my 8th grade band is attempting this but were taking it at every eight note gets a swing =[
mcspazi 3 years ago
thats terrible. You should never swing a piece of repertoire such as this it is degrading to the ensemble and this monumental work.
jaskiewicz123 3 years ago
no, thats not what i meant, i mean every eight note gets a beat because were taking it down so were all together when we play it at normal tempo.
mcspazi 3 years ago
we played this at camp this summer! I was 1st clari, 3rd chair.
nice brass section!
tmdclarinet10 3 years ago
The brass is a bit heavy especially the tuba, their articulation is a bit sloppy

thank you too!

There needs to be a range in dynamics, definatley but this is superb for a high school, you show how nice classical music can be.

What is up with no dynamic contrast. Ugh!!! The trio should be soft, not harsh. This is not that great.

Is Michael Rubenstein any relation to Arthur Rubenstein?

If the answer was yes, would it make any difference.

Yes, whatever side of the nature/nurture debate one chooses. A gift is a gift, regardless of the giver.
