  • This video went viral on Malabo

  • nobody cares about criminal media anymore

  • phxfreddy <--- troll

  • Obama is the first US dictator! ....he is several GIANT STEPS BACKWARDS!

...my god you idiot will believe anything.. Try Ron Paul if you want Open Source politics

  • interesting...

funny how open-source and democracy are so similar...

  • The grand irony is that Obama is completely cathedral-like. Even more-so than Bush was. And he's a perfect demonstration of WHY we need openness and transparency in our leadership.

  • Obama has his source code open to the public, but is programed by men behind the curtain.

  • I believe open source to be: revealing all information in order to expand and perfect.

obama open source? it is a nice idea for every government to do this, it creates transparency and it shifts from using only your own knowledge to using your own plus everyone else his.

it proved to be succesfull for many companies, the first I can think of are T-mobile and Nuon (battle of concepts).

I am curious about the downside...

  • Libertarianism is Open Source................Obama is Authoritarianism...........and this is antithetical to open source

  • From what I have heard, Libertarianism is for everything becoming free-market. Using a completely capitalistic approach including patents and the like to protect groups from unfair practices: ie change 1 sentence in a book; sell it as your own.

But free/open source software is against that kind of practice. Nothing is owned so nothing can be stolen, take freely and give back freely.

Open source can't be labeled, the closest match IMHO is: Willing Socialism with an unusual free market streak.

  • This guy just wanted to mention that he found out what open source is. Talking for the sake of talking... great.

  • oh come on...he's just pround of his comparison he thought of in the middle of the night...hahaha

  • yup

  • Riiiiight... How... Exactly? Obama wants to include us in our government. I don't see how that's tyrannical.

  • The irony here is quite think considering how the previous President acted. I can't say that Obama will be everything he promises, but tyrant isn't a term applicable to Obama.

  • I'm a keen Linux Ubuntu user from Finland and i hope Obama gives great boom and support to Open Source software. We don't need MS dictatorship.

  • I love it.

  • free the penguins!

  • absolutely not true, it is people like you whom are selfish and me me me types whom have put this country where it is starting with you and Mr.Bush. To clarify somethings here, we as a country should embrace open source software such as Ubuntu and OpenOffice in schools because it will free up tons of cash being paid to microsoft. So it will work as cost saving solution. So open source is not a bad idea and it is not socialism is a way to better humanity as a whole. Greedy Bastards!

  • Oh it figures why your so upset is that whole Opensuse thing. Well the fact that you support Opensuse says it all. This particular distro and it's parent company are in bed with Microsoft to pretty much destroy Gnu/Linux. It is great that you are donating your time. No one is saying here you should get everything for free, we are saying Open Standards and charge for service not products. You think the Open Source community does not work hard? I sure as hell think they are and do!

  • Great that you support open source. However, the open source ethos are not socialist. Either is Obama. However, if socialism means that we look after the sick and the old and the young of our society I vote for it. But thats not what open source is.

  • But of course in those "Scandinavian/European countries" they mysteriously can.

  • even with the income tax their standard of living is still much higher then the average american.

But this has nothing to do with socialism, it is all about science: if you were going to invent a new type of car, wouldn't you need the blueprints of 'old cars' as study-material? but if they hide these blueprints, then you would first spend years of reverse-engineering old stuff before you could improve and add new stuff. To invent and improve, you need the source(code). and lots of brains.
