This is an amazing video...you should make more to raise awareness about critically endangered species. I have a house in St. Croix, and we love the reefs down there, but it is always sad when I go back and notice a decline in a particular species of fish, coral or invertebrate. However, there are university programs at work on the island to curtail the effects of industrialization and tourism. Keep up the good filming!
I was snorkeling in Key West 7 years ago and saw one with 6 barracuda following right behind it. Our guide was next to me, she grabbed my arm and yelled "HOLY S#@*T!" over and over. She said it was the first one she's seen in her 10 years guiding snorkeling tours. It wasn't 15 though. Wish I had a camera handy :(
did you just jump over the enclosure to film that? That's like the man who was killed when he stepped into the tiger habitat at a zoo. What happened after you stopped filming?
@IslandMultimedia I saw one of these last year when i went to the Bahamas. It was almost as big as this one. My buddy and me jumped in and scared the shit out of it. It soon ran away.. lol.
The teeth are pretty serious, they use them to dispatch schools of fish like a hedgesaw from hell. We had a sawfish tied up to implant a transmitter and it put holes through our rub-rail by swinging. Very scary and impressive!
well....you saw the saw

I agree, A340. Magnificent animals that have been around hundreds of millions of years. Hopefully they will be with us for a long time to come.

@IslandMultimedia I know even, the 'common' sawfish is critically endangered. How ironic.

They are in the same taxonomic Class as sharks, Chondrichthes, the cartilaginous fishes. They are a type of ray.
