It is for moments like this that I want to become good at drumming. (even if just as a casual amateur) That dude has a very sweet way of making a living!
I love these old style costuming before Vaudeville/Victorian ever infected tribal fusion. It wouldn't bother me as much if people just dissociated "Tribal" from "Victorian." I suppose it's the consequence of having fallen in love with Rachel Brice's style pre-2005 and being change-phobic.
I totally agree. I'm glad I wasn't the only one noticing the switch to a Vaudeville style of Fusion costuming. I just love the tribal influence. I add a little Vaude but I always dress more tribal.
nooo way! Sadie is much better at drum solo, all Rachel is doing is belly rolls and layerings and hip drops etc, that is not drum solo if anybody knows Sadie and other artist that are not Tribal Fussion they have better technique, but Rachel is better at dancing other stiles not Drum Solo...
The interesting thing, when I was studying with BOBBY Farah, he told us the way we use up the floor space (if we were to ink our feet) would scribe beautiful arabesque patterns.
Tribal fusion dancers use a minium of floor space, I just noticed with Ms. Brice's style, just interesting. that is all. Her posture reminds me of those beautiful Hindu Temple sculptures!
@molarmama5 Minimal floor work was a really big thing in tribal fusion up until a few years ago. Not so much any more. Even Rachel doesn't stand in one place any more except on rare occasions.
It BECOMES EASY when you practice daily as I used to do. All pro-athletes,and dancers are athletes, must workout every single day. It becomes like bio-feed back for your body. Before camcorders, I would have my guy use a motorized SLR. I studied every shot for my posture. That was 1979. you must be truly dedicated.
Sorry, I left out musicians, thanks for the reminder. Practice, practice, practice!

I love how careless her shimmies are. It's nothing for her to just shake those hips all day long......

@nlopatosky The precise chest pops and shoulder movements. We call it 'ticking' because you 'tick-tick-tick' on the beat.

Some clubs are really cramped for floor space, and my friend Debra would be very frustrated by that fact. This was back in 1980. HA! Times do change!
