  • Hey, very nice video. would you mind teaching us some recipes for making a good meal out of the deer meat? something Japanese would be perfect.

    thanks.

  • @nihontoman I have some "Deer dishes" videos in my channel. My wife makes them alternately. We love the cutlet most. Thanks.

  • Snowless here in Minnesota for the first half of the winter. The other day, we finally got snow- 4.5".

  • Nice vid! Where can u buy those bags that u put the meat in?

  • @islandsoljahz At a home center. They are for storing rice seed for agricultural purpose. Thanks.

  • Are you allowed to hunt on the other islands?

  • @bsred733 The hunting license is different prefecture by prefecture. So when I want to hunt in other prefectures than Hokkaido island, I need to take each prefectural license. The license is valid through the season and it I will cost me around $200 for each prefecture. But it is not very sure because I have never hunt outside this island. Thanks.

  • Wako I have the exact same model of snowblower. Mine is over 10 years old and still performs very well. Honda is good.

  • @SlinkingTiger Yes. Honda is good.

  • Seems like you got the snow Norway had last year. Quite happy about not having that much this year.

  • how are you guys coping with the record snow fall in Hokkaido? Ive read that you had the most snow in history

  • @freestylmx311 The traffic is always very slow to go hunting. I always see around 5 car crashes during going to the hunting field. Snow shoveling is very hard for us personally. Thanks.

  • I would love to learn how to age meat. I think that your video taught me that it needs to be kept a little above freezing for two or three weeks, in a dry environment. Is that all there is to it?

  • @ScottsUtubeWorld What you say is exactly what I do. Thanks.

  • Great video! I love the insight into your life!

  • the way she lifts the bag is like a nurse gloving a surgeon. Did you marry a nurse

  • @sanantoniospurs9 She just didn't want her kitchen messed up with meat stuff. Unfortunately she was not a nurse and don't know how to nurse me very well. Thanks.

  • how do you eat this?

  • @TrackEmDownKennels I have some videos "Deer dishes". Thanks.

  • i love your stag gallery! how many years of hunting did it take to amass that collection?

  • @Urudrim I have 100 stag trophies in my house. Maybe around 40 in the garage. My trophy making experience is 7 years. Of course they are all my gettings. Thanks.

  • Adult deer, child deer... Not anymore.

  • Your meat is well hung.

  • Are you hanging them to dry such that they are preserved?

  • @JesusFuckingChrist84 The dried surface prevent the inside from being rotten. It will keep edible for 2 more weeks kept in the fridge. Thanks.

  • Can I have some of that meat please? Thank you! :)

  • cool vid, Thanks! Im learning from you.

  • wow I love this video, always wonder what you did with the deer meat, ever try to make deer Jerkey with the meat, Dehydrate it?

  • @Iseekoutthetruth I know some Japanese hunters make jerky. But I have never tried it. I don't have strong teeth to bite and chew it. Thanks.

  • Thanks for showing this. I always wanted to know on how you store your meet to make them taste at their best. Do you get any gamey smell from them? Deers we get in my country is of diff kind and is usually smelly and we use rosemary and maybe some mint herbs to kill of the smell. I personally use a lot of herbs especially on lambs for marinating overnight. Perhaps because its always hot and sunny here. And we need special storage cooler/freezer that cost a lot :( Thanks for all your videos.

  • You must have tons of meat in your freezers! lol

  • aren't you afraid that the exaust of your car can contaminate your meat?

  • @paolowolverine No. I am not such health conscious. And the air in my garage must be cleaner than you think. Thanks.

  • Can you make more deer dishes I love those

  • @Marco95772 My wife just makes them alternately 3 days a week. I have some "Deer dishes" videos. She ever tried some different dishes. But every other dishes were terrible. Thanks.

  • Do you ever cold or hot smoke your venison?

  • @ALAPINO I ever did hot smoke much. But now I am bored with it honestly speaking. And it took me much money and time. The meat must be soaked in a bottle of red wine, many vegetables, and many spices for a weak before smoked. Thanks.

  • @virtuovice I see. Thanks for sharing, Wako.

  • Woah, that's quite a bit of meat.

  • I love how you use stag racks to hang everything :) putting them to good use

  • How many deer do you kill during hunting season in Japan?

  • @zivanovic018 5% hunters get 95% deer. I hunt 80 days during 6 month season and get 70 deer in average. In them 50 are stag. Thanks.

  • Hy there, I am a little bit confused. You are alowed to kill as many deers as you want ? Also , I see you leave a lot of meat on the carcasses. Is that meet without any valor to you or why don't you take more ( at least more from the back legs)?

I am watching your videos for long time, and I like the great reviews you make. Keep it coming . All the best.

  • @kalinix79 I am allowed to kill as many deer as possible to reduce the much overpopulated deer. If I wanted, I could get 5 deer a day easily. But I don't because I am basically a trophy hunter. But sometimes my friends ask me for deer meat. Then I get necessary amount of deer with full might. Anyway I don't need the front thigh muscles so to say "Rump". They are bulky and heavy to carry back. And they are fibrous. I understand what I take from a deer is just good for us. Thanks.

  • who's the vegetarian that gave this a thumbs down -_-

  • Looks very tasty, my friend = ) You have an extraordinary collection of racks. Well done Wako! ~Wolf

  • I like this video very much. It takes us beyond the hunt and through the process of preparing the meat for eating. I especially like your opinions about which parts you like more than others and the size comparison between male, female and young deer. Very generous of you to give to friends and coworkers, they are very lucky.

  • how exactly do you age the meat? just hang it in a cold, dark room for a couple of weeks, or does it require more attention?

  • @wigglos I happen to use the net bags. One of my hunting friends hang it directly on hooks. In my case I must turn over the meat in the bags every 3 or 4 days to make all the surface like jerky evenly. That's all. One week for a young deer. 2 weeks for a regular deer. 3 weeks for a big stag. I don't care about fungus on its surface at all. Thanks.

  • @virtuovice so you cut off all the dry parts after the aging? Or use it as is? I don't hunt deer, but we put a couple of sheep in the freezer every year at home. usually it goes in the freezer immediatly, but I'm interested in your way also. Thank you

  • @wigglos Yes. My wife cuts off all the dry portions. Then the amount of the meat goes 2/3. I believe for the frozen meet this way works. It's because I regularly stay in the field for a couple of days. And during that period the meat gotten on the first day got frozen in my car. Thanks.

  • I'm not sure if you already have, but if you have the time would you be able to do a video on your top 10 knives for hunting and general usage (i.e. cooking, handy work etc), as I know you have a very extensive knife collection which have been well tried and test.

    Cheers pal

  • wow, that is a lot of meat!

  • making my mouth water, what kind of dishes do you make with your deer meat?

  • @SamuelSavage777 Please search for "deer dishes" in my channel. You will see some dishes served by my wife. Thanks.

  • What about the rest of the carcass?

  • @Ievgen1985 The crows get it.

  • @docnightfall good food)))

  • @Ievgen1985 I left them in the field. But It must be done in the forest. Within a day it goes skin and bones by foxes, bears, crows, and eagles. We seem to have much less hunting culture than western countries. Maybe we have just a couple of stations on this large island where they accept the carcass. Thanks.

  • @virtuovice In Ukraine, it is impossible. Licence for deer is $ 1,000. It is very expensive. I do not speak English ... sorry

  • Hey Wako, great batch of deer meat there. Does the Japanese Government impose a restriction in the commercial sale of such meat, to licensed butchers etc?

Brilliant video and very informative, keep them coming!

  • @Supernova031 I cannot sell my meat because of the food sanitary law. Only the licensed butchers are allowed to sell it. I think I was hanging 7 deer meat in this video. Our family will consume 2 deer in 7 ones. 5 deer will go to my friends and coworkers after aging. They prefer aged meat much. Thanks.
