gotta love all those hip hop posts on jamals videos. it would be nicer though if people would also comment on the hip hop videos stating where the samples come from not the other way around. cuz the hip hop producer are the ones paying tribute not jamal. but well i guess some some of them keep it secret on purpose so no one steals "their" samples. i just think more people should know about jamal.
@11jupitercowboy8 Yes he does. However, he treats his trio as an ensemble, so there are arranged passages as well. Check out his many versions of Poinciana for example.

Does Ahmad Jamal actually improvise his solos? There are so many different little sections and stuff in his arrangements and the band is in on it.
