1. Doesnt he played into the original version with 5 base strokes? As far as I count i count u use 2 or 3 base strokes but it sounds like the same.

2. How long do u practise a day?

@mrsojayco in the beginning/end of the song i have set the snare wires to off state. in the verses, i have the loose tension and in the choruses i have the full tension, switching between them (my mike portnoy sign snare has three wire states). yes, i have two floor toms :)
