  • Very strange music, but I like it

  • Is this from a DVD/ VHS? Or, what might someone recommend as the best live Gong dvd/ vhs?

  • Comment removed

  • Reldditmot; Thank you for sharing this with us!!

  • the commentator says the drummer is Rachid Houari - he played drums & percussion on a lot of their early LPs.

  • @autodidactbreather It does not look much like Pip Pyle from other pics on the web, nor from how I recall him, but that was at a later point, in the National Health Days, late 70s. So I think you heard it right.

  • To answer the drums question, that should be Pip Pyle on drums - his face looks familiar from a National Health album and he was their drummer in that era. Sadly Pip as well as other Gong great drummer, Pierre Moerlen are now passed on.

  • whats the song in 4:00?

  • @TheRedStones Starting at 4:40 the song is "Perfect Mystery" which did not appear on record until 1974's "You".

  • NEVER HEARD THIS VERSION OR EVEN SEEN THIS HIDDEN GEM THAT COMES OUT TO THE LIGHT NOW. WOW!! THANKS FOR POSTING IT WHERE CAN I GET A COPY?

  • crazy

  • Excellent! Haven't seen anything as early as this before...A sort of Magick Brother - Camembert transition band. Rashied Houari on drums. Thank you for posting. I've got to go now, Cops at the door!

  • Tritsch is on Facebook. Who's on drums?

  • Nice!

Sounds like the first piece they were playing eventually became "Guitar Zero."

Plus, they played a rough version of "Perfect Mystery" almost 3 years before it was released!

  • Anyone here that could provide a short translation of those interviews?

  • A great creative band...

  • erano parecchio fuori per i tempi, molto alternativi

  • top 3 French band...

  • @elephanta2 Gong could be considered maybe 40% French...

  • I know that, I thought that the comment like yours will come, haha. They are one of Canterbury bands and Daevid Allen is Australian, Gili Smith is Walish, Steve, Tim and others are the same but it is still possible that they are looked on a French band. In fact, we do it in my country.

  • Ah, we WERE all young once upon a time ago...

  • Old school, The way I like it !

  • the first punks!

  • @BennyGaberMusic .... abso-bloody-lutely!

  • Sort of like the Mothers of Invention without the melody and humour.

  • Oh wow

the "Never fight another war" chant. They use it again on their new album "2032" ......because wer'e still at war.

  • It seems the Gilli Smyth is experimenting with actual singing, which as far as I know she completely given up by the time of Camembert Electrique.

  • david we saw you the first time with Soft machine near St tropez?" "ouch what's this? a nail?!very dangerous!!!!Ounce I was half naked and did a painting of my blue legs""!!! ...

Soft machine what does it mean to you?? hum.......Iits also un ..camembert!!!!lol !!

merci Shaun for an early Gong!!!
