  • They're trained to draw the line ppl!

  • There must be a limit to "hand-made"!!! Painting that golden line by hand is pretty risky

  • Freehand painting dominance right there folks

  • The definition of true CRAFTSMANSHIP!

  • Hats off to the man painting the line on. Freehand, insane.

  • This Phantom is for HK

  • These cars are built the way all cars used to be built. I would love to own a Phantom simply to appreciate the level of care and the craftsmanship that went into making it.

  • YES! the peninsula Hong Kong! Lobe all those green Rolls rolling on our streets

  • porsche line up is better than this

  • @vinekl haha im sure :)

  • u kno u can scrape it off, it doesnt matter messing it up, but u put new green layer then yellow just takes a bit longer

  • that guy making the line looks like he just escaped from prison,

  • love the wood trim - amazing quality and the guy doing coachlines by hand too - just perfect :)

  • People who say that computers build cars better are living in the ivory tower. Take the new Mulsanne as an example, the rear windscreen is a step that computers cannot do because the step of having the glass completely embedded by the metal bezel is very complex. The purpose of hand building cars is that humans do it more precisely. It is not just about that privileged feeling.

  • @chuntohk Computers do build stuff better. It's just that some tasks are quite complex to do, and it's not economically feasible to build a machine for that job. For instance, when they are making the clay prototype, there's no way that a human could get the symmetry right for both sides. While a machine gets it right without a problem.

  • There really is no point of hand building it. Computers can do it so much finer and make it look even better. I understand that, sure, you get the feeling of hundreds of man hours worth of work when yo buy it, but if it was computer built, it would be so cheaper for a better car. I know some people like it, but I just think it's a waste or work.

  • You just don't get it. Go buy a Chevy or a Toyota and let us appreciate the final product.

  • You have no clue what you are talking about

  • You're right! Amazing!

  • I want one

  • i work there and ill tell you the brakes are huge!its just the car making them look small! each door takes around 3 hours to build! its awesome watching it being built!

  • clearly you don't work there ... if the doors took that long to build there would be a problem!!

    (1 hour)

  • how would it be a problem????how would you know?ive seen it been done and i oversee that all the wood from the woodshop is sent to them, so get your facts straight!

  • if it took 3 hours to build a door it would only be possible to build 5 cars a day, currently it is 8 Ghost alone...not including Phantom!

  • U could have just asked how.this is over come by having a team of guys in the PAD are(pre assemb doors) who overlap constantly and yes these times are now coming Down to fit in with projected production plans.just ask questions if u wana know!

  • I live in America. If I came toGreat Britain would you give me a tour? I saw London in 1973 when my Submarine docked at Portsmouth and I said I'd like to return. :)

  • I always wanted to know how big the brakes were lol. there small.

  • geez i bet they spend as many man hours on a door as GM spends on a car.

  • Simply the BEST!

  • I see the Mercedes maybach everyday, but i only saw the phantom 2 times.

  • amazing..

  • I hope the pin striper gets paid good, cause thats probably the hardest job there.

  • nice car. man, that guy making the line on the car must be really pressured. i'd be scared to death trying to do that, knowing if i messed up....man :D

  • @SlackBore Yeah, I was holding my breath just watching him!

  • Tsa d\ er rr re rR treJlF?

  • 1:49

  • is he painting it at 1:49?!? wat a pro!!!

  • thats really hard work

  • i know aye crazy stuff! way worth its price tag!

  • Rollsroyce are handmade beautys

  • yah!

  • WTF mage in hong kong?

  • no its an extremely luxury hotel that bought like 20 of these as there private cars to scoffer vip guest in, but rolls royce is made in the uk

  • lol, it's made by hand, no wounder it's so expensive!

  • alot of cars are made by hand that arent as expensive.

  • its the limited production and of coarse mostly the name

  • does this mean that there are chances of everything coming off over time , as they are not done by machines, and depends on the mood of the guy who was screwing up.

  • Those guys are not auto workers, those guys are true masons creating objects of art.

  • the craftmanship is unreal. it is only when you see videos like this that you truly appreciate the work that has gone into creating a piece of art.

  • dame i love rolls royce

  • dam

  • I love Rolls Royce, and I think its great that these people are so focused on making everything as perfect as possible... but if I were there I wouldn't be able to help myself but to jump out and scare everyone, especially the guy with the paintbrush.

  • that dude has a real steady hand!!

  • The silence explain everything.

  • VW owned them until 2002, I messed up and forgot that VW is still working on the bentley motor cars. I forgot that they stopped ever since the Rolls Corniche.

    My mistake.

  • VW is a proud owner of both Rolls and Bentley, even if all the parts are made elsewhere, it's not a piece of cake to construct a highly praised luxury car. It obviously takes tons of time.

I was at the rolls website 2 days ago to learn more about the process, and they put 6 hours alone into polishing the finishes (in between coats of paint), and making it absolutely perfect. That doesn't include the time it takes to put the primers and paint!

    Incredible.

  • VW does NOT own Rolls Royce. BMW does.

  • those lazy BITCHES make 65$ per hour !

    WTF ?!?!?

  • no wonder they cost so much huh

  • It's worth it.

  • Maybe if its made of Platnum

  • wow there all hand made

  • of course they are, they're rolls royces

  • that guy is a pro at drawing lines. he makes it so straight

  • What a quiet place to work! I go to libraries on a daily basis that are 10x louder than this.

  • Wow! I wish I had the talent and skill to create something beautiful like that!

There's nothing like fine handcraftsmanship. Elegant, timeless, class.

  • When it said Peninsula Hong kong, I just remembered when i went to Hong kong, Peninsula had Phantoms for their limo service

  • Just like my Allegro Vanden Plas

  • wow i didnt know they went to that much work to make that car wow.

  • I didnt appreciate the cars until i saw this either...

  • Awsome car..... Really!

  • Is it Indian 's company now ?

  • its british. the car is still made in england so its still british. the indian ompany only gets a piece of the sales money . its like an invesment they did

  • naw styll BMW

  • Well most of the parts actually are made in Germany such as the engine, it then gets shipped to England to be put together.

  • BEAUTIFUL!!

  • the silence......

  • THE PERFECT CAR

  • Are there aftermarket disappearing hood ornament kits? The Phantom has the hood ornament that slides down into the grille when you turn off the car. That seems like it'd be a great feature to retrofit to older Rolls-Royces, too..

  • wow!!!!!!

  • these cars will always be british.. dosnt matter were there built.. the class and style has english written all overit.. just like bmw could never be anything but german

  • Wiki-"Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is a BMW subsidiary, responsible for the Rolls-Royce automobiles since 1997."

And I think wikipedia is American.

  • I love the idea of the nav screen behind the clock

  • bmw owns mini

  • and!!??!!

  • bmw owns both rolls woyce and mini

    vw owns bentley

ford owns jaguar and land rover, th elatter of which they acquired from bmw

before this, both rolls royce and bentley belonged to the british vickers group

  • I hate that BMW bought Rolls. It should be privately owned, as is Bentley, MINI, and Jaguar-Land Rover

  • uhh isn't jag owned by ford along with land-rover?

  • yeah, I made a mistake. Ford should own Jaguar-LR. But the others should be privately owned.

  • do your research, Bentley is owned by VW....

  • LOL.

BMW owning Rolls Royce is way better than Ford owning Jaguar and Land Rover!

    Now it's like this:

    Volkswagen: Bugatti, Bentley, Lamborghini, Audi

    Tata: Jaguar and Land Rover

    BMW: MINI, Rolls Royce

  • Read what it says ASSEMBLEY. This car is made in Munich by BMW and assembled at Goodwood.Did you note how quiete the place was !!.They need it to be finish built in the U.K. to create a false image.

  • Its is not made in Munich.

The aluminium space frame is welded in Dingolfing, the car is painted , trimmed and finished in Goodwood. This includes all the wood, which is built from tree trunks and all the leather which is built from bulls. Many of the components come in from German companies and many from other countries.

  • Impressive

  • I have been inside the Rolls Royce factory which is deep underground near goodwood. And it really is silent. Germans you see. You can see the skill unvolved. Amazing craftmanship going on there.

  • Sorry mate but RR are put together by the Brits

  • Yeah, the workers are a mixture of British and German.

For some of the jobs BMW fly there own men in.

  • I See, we should never have sold all out top car companies, but at least we have got aston Martin back.

  • I am not that keen on Aston Martin's personally but I do have one that my girlfriend drives about. A Vantage Roadster 2007.

    Well at least its ours!!!

  • Very nice, better car than Mercedes

  • Not really. I prefer my SLR.

Besides Mercedes invented the supercar with the 300SL remember?

  • Not a match for my machine mate, my transport is powered by 4 RR RB-211-524 turbo jets each engine producing 62,000-LBS of thrust p sq inch per engine would suck your slr in and blow it away.

  • i dont know much about jet engines so I dont know whether you are being sarcastic towards my comment or you really do have some jet powered thing.

  • For an eleven-year old, you've done very well. I hope you wil have a chance to film a real live Phantom, rather than filming photographs from magazines. I share your love for the marque, and got my driver's licence in a 1934 RR in 1962!

  • Well considering they are producing on average a bolt an hour... I don't think much noise would be generated from that lol.

  • It seems that the factory is just as quiet as the car itself. I could fall asleep making that thing.
