a lot of people don't understand the true reason why the twin towers are not and will never be rebuilt... especially in this economy, it ain't gonna happen. and i quote donald trump "it took 30 years to rent up the space in those buildings" and those twin towers were getting threats since the day they were built. larry silverstein couldn't afford to repair the complex and fireproofing alone costed him MILLIONS. in this economy, we can't even afford the freedom tower = we're in trouble.

Rumors I've heard which compile with the information of the 1999 fireproof upgrade was that there were meetings between larry silverstein and others about demolishing the twin towers. He wanted to demolish them, but said it would cost over 3 BILLION dollars to build the scaffolds to tear down the twin towers AND THEN tear down the scaffolds. The only way to bring those towers down without wasting BILLIONS of dollars was to terrorize the complex, which gave Larry a compensation of $7,000,000,000.

Just make them looking more modern and less rectangular, that's way, everyone is happy. They would look like a homage to the original towers and be modern enough for the Government to be satisfied.

Rather than these weird, strangely shaped towers that look like they belong in Dubai, not New York.
