The model in the video is Beth Anderson. Nick could not remember her name but gave her accolades. I understand Nick was not big into videos, He did a great job on this one. It captures and expresses the song quite well. I never thought about sticks being paint brushes. He is one of my favorite artiest.
@MalaTemporaCurrunt Andy Summers is and was a damn guitarist. I loved the fact he played a tele. The Police made their mark in music. Andy is also the balance that Sting needs. He is way too serious otherwise.
I just heard this song for the first time 2 days ago, and I have been reminded of how much I love pop music, like this, from the 80s. I wish people still made music like this. There's still some good music, maybe like The National or The Bird and The Bee, but it seems not as much.
anyone remember the 'rock of the eighties' movie w/brad pitt, this young and skinny w/ designer glasses w/'..... Davis , commedienne, but not Brooklyn's Gena?
Great song and fun video! Wouldn't it be great to have a 'magic storyboard' like the one Nick uses in this vid? I could have some real fun with various exes and other miscellaneous tools I know!
@boatingbob this video would go well w/ "Take on me by A- ha". There is /was a grphic arts mag called' 'HOW' which showed the techniques used to animate TOM, which won academy award as i recall rdrd I believe. was in La
The trip back to my early teens continues....Dad brought this back from a trip to the UK for me in 83/84. I must be the only person in Australia to own this fantastic LP!? Yes-" LP" kiddies! This was and is a great album. and what a ripper song. BRAVO
That was a class album. I remember being vaguely embarassed about loving it so much when all my mates were into heavy metal! he's still banging out some decent tunes - check his myspace, top stuff.
This was such a nice record. Brilliant! It captures still my feelings i had around this time. It is like an emotional timemachine. The album of 1983 for me.
There never was video made for 'Take that Situation' and ironically that was Nick's biggest hit as a solo artist. It reached number 11 in July 2003. He never was a fan of the music video and I guess this confirmed his misgivings on the media.
Classic from early '84. Not the last track to be released from his debut solo album - that was When it started to Begin. This one was a gem, but ironically his first flop. Remember listening to it on BBC Radio 2 in the afternoon and I live in Dublin!
As far as I remember this was released as double A-side single with 'When it started to begin' in November 1983. The package also included 'Stolen Tears' a magical cutting from the Miracle sessions. Great songs performed by amazingly accomplished musicians and production by Geoff Emerick.
This missed out on the Top 50 and heralded Nick's wilderness years. He's still making fantastic music - Check out his MySpace page, he regularly updates it with new tunes and new versions of old favs.
MY freind and I bought Haircut 100 in the summer of 1982. Since then I have nearly all of Nicks work and like this album alot. When I hear it reminds me of great times of the past and present, since I still listen to it. Check out bands reunited on VH1 to see Nick perform with Haircut again.

Who is the model in this video. Her eyes are just gorgeous. I wonder if Nick put a ring on her? He should of.

I've also been surprised that so many great artists/ bands didn't make it as big here in the US.

Never knew this video existed. Loved the song since I bought the LP in 1983. This really should have been a top 10 hit in the US.

What a talent; although his music is extremely pop it's also extremely sophisticated and creative; that ultimately will bring about your demise.
